Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible USB desktop produce monochrome documents and color-scan Legal on the glass, with 300 sheets and four-digit print release?
Qualifies in the documented native desktop arrangement. The exact DCP-8060 has Legal glass, a separate simplex feeder, 250-plus-50-sheet paper input and common four-digit stored-print release.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the common DCP-8065DN guide establish automatic print duplex for DCP-8060?
Fails: the exact original print-duplex branch is DCP-8065DN only. Its mechanism is not included in DCP-8060.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the standard DCP-8060 meet an Ethernet scanner requirement?
Fails: Ethernet hardware is optional on DCP-8060. The neighboring DN model’s built-in network arrangement does not apply to the ordinary configuration.

The Brother DCP-8060 combines monochrome laser printing and copying with color computer scanning. Its Legal-size flatbed and 50-sheet simplex document feeder can suit a compatible local desktop that handles full-length originals. The standard cassette and multipurpose tray also provide 300 sheets of ordinary input, giving a practical distinction from smaller machines with only a one-sheet manual slot.
This is an earlier equipment reference, and Brother's exact Canadian record marks the model discontinued. The US original guide separately establishes the relevant operating and power details. It covers DCP-8060 alongside DCP-8065DN, whose duplex and built-in network equipment are different. The suffix qualifications therefore matter more than the common manual cover.
Two full-length original routes
The ADF accepts suitable one-sided originals through 8.5 × 14 inches and holds up to fifty under the specified ordinary-paper conditions. The glass also reaches 8.5 × 14 inches. That gives a genuine stationary Legal route when an appropriate original should not pass through the feeder. Books, delicate items and unsuitable sheets still need the original loading and cover precautions.
The exact copy and scanner tables assign automatic two-sided capture to DCP-8065DN only. DCP-8060's documented feeder route is simplex. It should not satisfy a requirement for an automatic reversing or single-pass scanner. Color files are supported even though printed and copied output is monochrome, and fax hardware is not added from generic software language.
The MP tray changes the paper routine
The cassette holds 250 sheets and the MP tray fifty on the maker's stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain-paper basis. Documented Letter, Legal and A4 input is supported in both ranges. The optional lower 250-sheet cassette is separate from that 300-sheet standard total. Suitable envelopes and other media require the MP path and its specific settings rather than being treated as an ordinary plain-paper stack.
Automatic print duplex is explicitly assigned to DCP-8065DN in the original print table. It is excluded from this DCP-8060 configuration independently of the scanner limitation. The US guide rates one-sided Letter printing up to 30 ppm, while the exact Canadian table separately lists 28 A4 ppm. An A4 factual lead is not converted into a Letter rate, and neither declaration is a personal timing result.
Local USB functions and a protected print key
Hi-Speed USB and IEEE1284 parallel are standard. Ethernet equipment is optional on DCP-8060, while the original built-in network chapter is qualified for DCP-8065DN. A shared LAN cable description does not supply a network socket in the base configuration. The exact computer table positively supports compatible USB desktop printing and scanning, with its original operating-system conditions.
The common control-panel instructions explicitly name both models and describe a Secure key that prints stored data after entry of a four-digit password. That is a print-job release routine, separate from Secure Function Lock's user restrictions. It is recorded within compatible native desktop software rather than transferred to an undocumented mobile or optional-network arrangement. Check the intended computer before depending on older scanner software.
Supplies and the physical installation
The guide declares TN-550 toner around 3,500 pages and TN-580 around 7,000 using 5% Letter/A4 coverage. These older figures are not relabeled ISO/IEC yields. The DR-520 drum is separate, with an approximately 25,000-page declaration under its conditions. The original part-life counter is only meaningful when reset at actual replacement; it does not independently prove the remaining life of a surviving unit. An exact recurring monthly recommendation remains unknown here.
The US original specifies 100–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The body measures 20.9 × 17.7 × 18.7 inches, but the 35.5 lb declaration excludes drum and toner, leaving loaded weight unknown. Leave Legal-glass cover, feeder, paper-loading and service clearance. The original also describes locking the scanner for transport. Choose the machine for its verified local monochrome and Legal capture routine when automatic duplex and included Ethernet are not required.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
US original rates one-sided Letter printing up to 30 ppm. Canadian exact table separately gives 28 A4 ppm. An inherited A4 number is not converted into a Letter rating. No exact recurring monthly recommendation is established in the read sources.
Paper handling
250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet MP tray give 300 standard sheets at stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain-paper basis for Letter, Legal and A4. Optional lower 250 is excluded from standard input. Original automatic print-duplex branch is DCP-8065DN only, not DCP-8060. Suitable envelopes use the documented MP path.
Scanning arrangement
50-sheet simplex ADF and full Legal glass through 8.5 × 14 in. Exact original scanner/copy tables explicitly assign automatic duplex to DCP-8065DN only. Color computer capture is supported despite monochrome printing and copying. No fax hardware is assigned from generic software terminology.
Computer and mobile connections
Included Hi-Speed USB and IEEE1284 parallel. Exact DCP-8060 Ethernet equipment is optional; original built-in network functions belong to DCP-8065DN. Compatible USB desktop scanning is positive in the computer-function table. Common Secure key instructions name both models and release stored print data after a four-digit password, separate from function lock.
Supplies and declared yields
TN-550 approximately 3,500 pages and TN-580 approximately 7,000 at 5% Letter/A4 coverage, not ISO/IEC declarations. Separate DR-520 drum approximately 25,000 pages under stated conditions. Original part-life counters depend on accurate reset at actual replacement rather than proving remaining life by themselves.
Electrical edition and setup
US original specifies 100–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Body 20.9 × 17.7 × 18.7 in.; stated 35.5 lb excludes drum/toner, so loaded weight remains unknown. Canadian exact record marks the model discontinued. Leave Legal-glass cover, feeder, tray and service space; scanner lock matters during transport.
