DCP-8110DNIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible wired offices scanning single-sided Legal stacks and printing two-sided monochrome documents.

The main tradeoff

Shorter glass and no automatic two-sided feeder capture; neighboring-model trays and scanner hardware are excluded.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it scan single-sided Legal originals in color over Ethernet while printing Legal documents automatically on both sides?

Yes, with compatible native software and configured network scanning. Legal originals use the 35-sheet feeder; the US print-duplex routine supports Legal.

Can I require Legal capture on both its feeder and its glass?

No. The feeder accepts Legal, but the DCP-8110DN glass is only 11.8 inches long.

Will it automatically scan both faces of a document stack?

No. Its exact scanner column is simplex. Automatic feeder duplex is a different model’s feature.

A wired document MFP with a smaller scanner arrangement

The Brother DCP-8110DN is an earlier monochrome laser reference for a compatible USB or wired-network office that also needs copying and color scanning. Its useful combination is a 35-sheet document feeder, 300 sheets of included print input and automatic two-sided output. The deciding limitation is document capture: its feeder reads one face at a time, and its glass is shorter than the glass on the DCP-8150DN and DCP-8155DN in the same manual.

Brother’s replacement chart lists the DCP-8110DN as discontinued. It should be considered as an earlier documented model, with software and the actual machine condition checked independently. Its monochrome output does not prevent color scanning, but neither the scanner nor the five-line display turns it into a color printer. Fax is not one of this DCP model’s functions.

Keep the feeder and glass sizes distinct

The automatic feeder accepts suitable originals up to 8.5 by 14 inches, including Legal. Its 35-page declaration uses the stated ordinary paper and handling conditions. Fan and align a suitable stack, load it face up and adjust the guides. Books, fragile sheets and other unsuitable feeder originals belong on the glass instead.

The glass is limited to 8.5 by 11.8 inches, accommodating Letter and A4 rather than full Legal length. Legal acceptance through the feeder cannot enlarge that glass. The original explicitly reserves automatic two-sided feeder scanning for the DCP-8155DN branch. The DCP-8110DN therefore does not meet a requirement for automatic duplex capture or a single-pass scanner.

For computer scans, install the applicable scanner driver and select the correct machine in ControlCenter 4. The guide explains saving a PDF to the computer and using the SCAN key to select a destination computer on the network. Network capture needs the documented TCP/IP configuration, rather than merely a working print queue.

USB, Ethernet and AirPrint are separate arrangements

The included computer connections are Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. The original computer-function tables positively pair both with printing and scanning for supported desktop systems; some server entries are printing only. Check the exact computer environment before assuming every operating-system branch offers all functions.

The support index also links an AirPrint guide. Its appropriate arrangement uses Ethernet between the printer and a suitable wireless router, with the Apple device on that shared network. The printer does not thereby acquire built-in Wi-Fi. AirPrint’s printing instructions are not evidence that its scanner or native password-release controls are available through the same mobile application.

Use the included feeds and regional duplex routine

A 250-sheet cassette and fifty-sheet multipurpose tray make 300 ordinary sheets at the stated weight. Both support Letter, Legal and A4 within their size ranges. The optional lower tray in this family is for the DCP-8150DN and DCP-8155DN, not the DCP-8110DN. Do not count a neighboring variant’s expansion as this model’s standard or optional input.

The USA/CAN automatic print-duplex table lists Letter, Legal and Folio in suitable plain, thin or recycled stock. Ordinary A4 feeding remains a separate capability. Envelopes use the multipurpose tray and its instructed media routine, with up to three suitable envelopes rather than the fifty-sheet plain-paper count.

The declared one-sided engine rate is thirty-eight Letter pages per minute. The forty-page branch belongs to the other models. Duplex output is declared at eighteen printed sides, or nine sheets, per minute; none of these figures establishes a recommended monthly workload.

Password jobs, supplies and placement

The applicable native software guide explains assigning a four-digit password to a stored print job and releasing it through Secure Print at the panel. It is a temporary job queue: data is cleared after printing or power-off. Keep that driver-dependent routine separate from AirPrint and from administrative access restrictions.

The DCP-8110DN original specifies approximately 2,000 pages of inbox toner, compared with 3,000 for the neighboring models. TN-720 replacements are approximately 3,000 pages and TN-750 approximately 8,000 under ISO/IEC 19752; the DR-720 drum declaration is approximately 30,000 at one page per job.

The body is approximately 15.9 inches wide, 16.3 deep and 16.7 high, weighing 34.4 pounds with consumables. The USA/CAN original specifies 110–120 V AC. Leave document-cover and maintenance room. A documented duplex-scanning MFP is the appropriate alternative for routine two-sided originals.
