The Brother DCP-8150DN is a discontinued monochrome laser machine for printing, copying and color computer scanning. It fits a compatible wired office that needs a full Legal glass, a fifty-page feeder and automatic black output duplex. The deciding distinction is input handling: its feeder scans one side at a time. Telephone fax and an internal wireless radio are absent.
The exact model sits between materially different DCP variants in the shared guide. DCP-8110DN has a shorter glass and smaller feeder, while DCP-8155DN adds automatic two-sided original capture. Neither neighboring column is substituted here. DCP-8150DN has the Legal glass and fifty-page feeder, with its own loaded weight and supplied toner declaration.
Full Legal glass and ordinary feeder capture
The glass accepts originals up to fourteen inches long, useful when a suitable bound or individual Legal original belongs on the platen. The separate feeder also accepts appropriate simplex Legal originals. Its fifty-page capacity is stated on a 20 lb paper basis; that does not make every thick or irregular original appropriate for automatic feeding.
The actual scanner table excludes DCP-8150DN from automatic input duplex. The scan-button operation likewise makes its two-sided option DCP-8155DN-only. A two-sided printed document therefore remains a different capability from capturing both original sides automatically. The original also separates optical glass and feeder resolutions from the much larger interpolated number.
Computer capture and native protected jobs
Included Hi-Speed USB and 10/100 Ethernet support compatible desktop printing and scanning. The ControlCenter routine selects the exact model, file destination and document size; network capture also selects the destination computer. Original Server rows are network-print-only, rather than a promise of full desktop scanning on every platform. Native setup also requires the installed scanner driver and a configured network address.
The panel's Secure Print routine releases supported stored data using a four-digit password. That print-release password is distinct from a destination-computer PIN used in scanner setup. AirPrint is separately documented on a suitable shared network: the actual infrastructure diagram permits the printer's Ethernet cable to a wireless router. It does not add a radio or transfer the native PIN and desktop-capture workflow into AirPrint.
Included paper and actual output measures
The cassette holds 250 sheets and the multipurpose tray another fifty on the stated plain-paper basis. Both support Letter, Legal and A4. The optional 500-sheet lower tray is excluded from the 300-sheet base total. Suitable envelopes use the separate instructed multipurpose path and media settings.
The exact US automatic print-duplex list is Letter, Legal and Folio. Ordinary A4 feeding does not extend that regional list. One-sided output is rated up to forty Letter pages per minute, with Letter duplex separately up to eighteen printed sides or nine sheets per minute. These are maker declarations, not personal measurements. No exact numerical recommended monthly volume is established in the read sources.
Supplies, body and the deciding upgrade
The included toner declaration is approximately 3,000 pages, distinct from DCP-8110DN's smaller inbox figure. TN-720 replacement is approximately 3,000 and TN-750 approximately 8,000 Letter/A4 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate DR-720 drum declaration is approximately 30,000 pages at one page per job. These figures do not establish current running cost or remaining life.
The body measures 19.3 × 16.3 × 17.6 inches and weighs 35.5 lb with supplies. The US original specifies 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Leave Legal-lid, feeder, paper-path, cable and service room, and verify usable native software and installed trays. If automatic original duplex is essential, compare an exact model including that scanner rather than expecting the shared manual to upgrade this one.
