DCP-L2520DWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible small-office wireless desktop handling individual Letter or A4 originals and monochrome documents.

The main tradeoff

There is no ADF, Legal glass or included Ethernet; automatic print duplex does not automate handling of originals.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an ordinary Wi-Fi setup provide AirPrint, monochrome Legal duplex output and Letter color flatbed scanning with 250 sheets at 2,000 pages per month?

Qualifies with compatible desktop scanner software alongside separate AirPrint network printing. Legal is a supported print-duplex size; the selected scan original is Letter and fits the glass. The monthly recommendation reaches 2,000 pages.

Can I load a stack for automatic document feeding?

Fails: DCP-L2520DW has a flatbed scanner without an ADF. Its duplex feature moves printed paper, not a stack of originals.

Can it meet a standard Ethernet connection requirement?

Fails: exact included interfaces are USB and Wi-Fi. Ethernet is not included on DCP-L2520DW.

A flatbed wireless machine for individual originals

The Brother DCP-L2520DW combines monochrome laser printing and copying with color flatbed scanning. It is a discontinued three-function model with a 250-sheet cassette and automatic print duplex. Its most important handling limit is simple: there is no automatic document feeder. It suits a compatible desktop that captures individual suitable originals on the glass, rather than an office expecting unattended stack scanning.

The exact US product record positively establishes wireless networking, despite the DCP-L2520DW being omitted from a shared specification's wireless model list. Brother's actual US wireless setup instructions also name the model and explain its WLAN Setup Wizard. Those exact operating sources resolve the omission; the missing name in a family row is not treated as proof that the real wireless hardware does not exist.

Scanning and two-sided output are different jobs

The glass accepts originals through 8.5 × 11.8 inches, covering suitable Letter and A4 work but not a full Legal page. Place each original under the manual's loading instructions and leave room for the cover to open. A book or fragile item may benefit from stationary capture, subject to the relevant restrictions, while a large loose-sheet stack requires repeated handling.

The product page explicitly says there is no duplex scanning. It also describes making two-sided output from one-sided copied originals. That changes the output arrangement; it does not supply automatic capture of both faces of an original. Color computer scanning is supported, but the print and copy engine remains monochrome. Neither feature should be inferred from the other.

Paper sizes and a Letter-specific speed

The cassette holds up to 250 sheets on the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain-paper basis. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary input is documented, and the separate manual slot takes one suitable sheet or envelope at a time. It is not another stack tray, and the exact product lists no optional paper trays. Use the relevant media and feed instructions for anything other than ordinary office paper.

The US automatic print-duplex list is Letter, Legal and Folio. The exact US speed is up to 27 one-sided Letter pages per minute, with Letter duplex separately up to thirteen sides, or 6.5 sheets, per minute. An inherited 26 A4 ppm lead is not converted into a Letter rate. These declarations describe different modes and conditions rather than personal timing tests.

Ordinary Wi-Fi scanning beside AirPrint

The exact product establishes standard USB and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi with network printing and scanning. Its AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct printing features are also positively named, while Ethernet is not included. The WLAN instructions explain selecting the network, checking the connection report and installing the appropriate printer/scanner package. A network password is a setup credential, not evidence of PIN-held print release.

The original basic guide explains selecting a destination computer for scan-to-file and using ControlCenter for the scan settings. That compatible desktop arrangement is kept separate from AirPrint printing and from a peer-mobile Wi-Fi Direct connection. Historical operating-system lists and Server restrictions should be checked against the intended computer. Old cloud-service names are not promises of current service operation.

Workload, consumables and installation

The recommended monthly range is 250–2,000 pages, separate from the 10,000-page maximum duty declaration. The exact box record declares approximately 700-page starter toner. The original US guide lists TN-630 replacement toner at approximately 1,200 pages and TN-660 at approximately 2,600 under ISO/IEC 19752. The DR-630 drum is a separate approximately 12,000-page maintenance declaration under its conditions.

The exact US support power range is 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz; the product page's inconsistent generic 100–240 V cell is not adopted. The body measures 16.1 × 15.7 × 10.5 inches and weighs 21.2 lb with supplies. Leave glass-cover, tray and service space. Choose it for compatible monochrome output and individual color capture when its real flatbed workflow, rather than an imagined feeder, fits the task.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact US specification gives up to 27 one-sided Letter ppm, with automatic Letter duplex separately up to 13 sides / 6.5 sheets per minute. Older 26 A4 ppm lead is not converted to a Letter rate. Recommended monthly range 250–2,000 pages is distinct from 10,000 maximum duty.

Paper handling

250-sheet cassette at stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² capacity basis, plus one-sheet manual feed for suitable envelopes or other media. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary input is documented. Specific US automatic duplex sizes are Letter, Legal and Folio; no A4 duplex is assigned from an older regional speed lead.

Scanning arrangement

Color flatbed scanner through 8.5 × 11.8 in.; no Legal glass and no automatic document feeder. Exact product explicitly says no duplex scanning. Two-sided output from one-sided copied originals does not establish automatic two-sided original capture.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact US product establishes included 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB, network printing/scanning, AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct printing. The US-family spec wireless row omits DCP-L2520DW, but exact product and actual US WLAN setup instructions resolve that omission. Ethernet is not included. Mopria and native PIN print release remain unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact product declares approximately 700-page starter toner. Original US guide lists TN-630 approximately 1,200 pages and TN-660 approximately 2,600 under ISO/IEC 19752, plus separate DR-630 drum approximately 12,000 pages under its conditions.

Electrical edition and setup

Use exact US support 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz rather than the product page’s inconsistent generic 100–240 V cell. Product body is 16.1 × 15.7 × 10.5 in.; exact support identifies 21.2 lb with supplies. Leave glass-cover, tray and service access.
