Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it print color Letter documents on ordinary Wi-Fi with native protected-job release and 250 sheets?
Yes, with a compatible router and native driver. Its documented infrastructure wireless, cassette and actual password-release routine support that arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Will its duplex setting finish both sides automatically?
No. The original documents manual stack reloading, and its BR-Script driver does not support that manual-duplex feature.
Explore this need in the finder →Does single-pass LED technology provide a single-pass document scanner?
No. Single-pass describes the print engine; this printer has no scanner hardware.
Explore this need in the finder →A wireless color LED printer with manual duplex
The Brother HL-3070CW is an earlier color printer reference for a compatible desktop or network that needs ordinary color documents from a 250-sheet cassette. The deciding tradeoff is two-sided output: its documented routine requires a person to turn and reload the pages. Wireless connectivity and a protected-job feature do not turn it into an automatic-duplex or multifunction machine.
The original calls the imaging technology single-pass electrophotographic LED. LED is the accurate engine description, and single-pass refers to the printed color page rather than a document scanner. The HL-3070CW is print-only, with no scanner, copier or fax hardware.
Use the exact US identity and connection branch
The inherited specification link selects Other countries. An independently observed exact US specification page confirms the same model’s American reference, and the actual operating guide explicitly separates the US 110–120 V power branch from 220–240 V regional editions. This avoids treating an English page or a shared model name as enough evidence of the electrical configuration.
The HL-3070CW controller includes sixty-four megabytes of memory, PCL6 and BR-Script 3. Hi-Speed USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and IEEE 802.11b/g wireless LAN are documented. These entries differ from the HL-3040CN column, which has less standard memory and lacks the wireless and page-language branches.
Confirm the actual native driver and router compatibility before depending on this older wireless arrangement. Infrastructure and ad-hoc modes are documented; ad-hoc is not proof of Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint and Mopria are left unestablished from the read operating sources. The front direct-file and camera routines are separate from the computer USB connection and do not add scanning hardware.
Keep the cassette loaded and feed special sheets individually
The ordinary cassette accepts up to 250 sheets of the stated plain stock, including Letter, Legal and A4. There is no multipurpose paper tray or optional lower paper tray in the exact specification. The separate manual slot takes one suitable sheet or envelope at a time; it should not be counted as another ordinary stack.
For envelopes, the operating instructions open the rear output path, lower the two designated gray levers and feed one envelope with the printed face up. The driver’s envelope size and media setting must match the job. Return the levers to their normal position when finished, and remove each envelope as instructed. This routine requires access behind the printer as well as the closed cabinet footprint.
Duplex depends on manual reloading and the driver
The original’s manual-duplex routine prints the even-numbered pages first, then requires the user to replace the stack in the right order and orientation for the odd-numbered pages. It gives separate instructions for cassette and manual-slot handling. Appropriate plain, recycled or thin stock matters; curled or unsuitable sheets can interrupt the second pass.
The BR-Script driver does not support this manual-duplex feature. A generic duplex heading should therefore not be read as automatic two-sided hardware or universal availability in every driver. Frequent unattended two-sided printing calls for a printer with a documented automatic duplex unit.
Password release is real, but temporary
The supported native Secure Print setting sends a password-protected job to memory. At the panel, the user selects the user and job, enters the password and releases printing. The data is deleted after one print or power-off, and a full spool area can produce a memory error. It is a temporary protected-output routine, not a permanent file store.
The declared one-sided engine rate is up to seventeen Letter pages per minute in either color or monochrome, separately from sixteen A4 pages per minute. Wireless transfer and the document can affect the actual job time. No monthly recommendation is inferred from those engine figures.
Supplies and body measurements need their original basis
The original describes approximately 1,000 pages for each supplied starter toner. Its non-European TN-210 replacements are approximately 2,200 black and 1,400 per color under ISO/IEC 19798. The separate drum declaration is approximately 15,000 pages at one page per job, with belt and waste-box declarations of approximately 50,000.
The cabinet measures approximately 16.1 inches wide, 18.3 deep and 9.8 high. The web’s 48.5-pound figure is carton weight; the original’s 41.9-pound unit figure does not explicitly settle loaded-consumables weight. Neither is used as a loaded-weight limit. Allow extra feed and maintenance room when comparing it with a documented automatic-duplex alternative.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Up to 17 one-sided Letter / 16 A4 ppm in color and monochrome. No automatic-duplex rate or recommended monthly volume assigned.
Paper handling
250-sheet ordinary cassette, stated 20 lb / 80 g/m². Letter/Legal/A4 supported. Separate one-sheet manual slot; no multipurpose tray or optional lower tray. Suitable envelopes follow the rear-path/gray-lever routine one at a time. Output duplex is manual stack reloading.
Computer and mobile connections
HL-3070CW: 64 MB standard memory, PCL6/BR-Script 3, Hi-Speed USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and IEEE 802.11b/g infrastructure/ad-hoc wireless. Ad-hoc is not Wi-Fi Direct. Front direct-file USB is distinct from computer USB. BR-Script does not offer the documented manual-duplex feature.
Supplies and declared yields
Supplied starter toner approximately 1,000 pages each. Non-European TN-210 black approximately 2,200 / each color approximately 1,400 Letter/A4 pages under ISO/IEC 19798. DR-210CL approximately 15,000 at one page/job; BU-200CL and WT-200CL approximately 50,000.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US page independently confirms market. Actual Spanish original explicitly specifies US 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz, separately from 220–240 V editions. Body W 16.1 × D 18.3 × H 9.8 in. Carton 48.5 lb is excluded; original 41.9 lb unit weight lacks a clear loaded basis and remains unassigned.
