A useful fit for

A compatible small workgroup producing color documents and supported native password-held jobs through a wired desktop arrangement.

The main tradeoff

It has no scanner or built-in Wi-Fi. The larger input tray is optional, and the exact US automatic-duplex paper list is narrower than ordinary input.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet provide color Legal duplex, 300 included sheets and protected native print release?

Standard duplex on a wired color printer

The Brother HL-4150CDN is a discontinued color laser printer with USB and included Ethernet. It fits a compatible small workgroup making color documents and ordinary black pages through a wired desktop arrangement. Automatic two-sided printing and 300 included ordinary sheets are real standard features. Scanning and built-in Wi-Fi are different functions this exact model does not include.

The surviving product page contains conflicting generic cells that say no automatic duplex and a one-sheet multipurpose feed. Its exact model description, original brochure and operating guide instead confirm standard automatic duplex and a fifty-sheet multipurpose tray. Those precise, mutually supporting sources control this assessment. The neighboring HL-4570CDW's radio and faster Letter rate are excluded.

Real included input and regional duplex media

The cassette holds 250 sheets and the multipurpose tray another fifty on the stated 20 lb plain-paper basis. Both support Letter, Legal and A4. The separate 500-sheet lower tray requires an additional purchase, so it is excluded from the 300-sheet base total. Suitable envelopes use the instructed multipurpose path; glossy stock has its own single-sheet qualification.

The exact US automatic-duplex media list accepts Letter, Legal and Folio with appropriate stock. Ordinary A4 feeding does not enlarge that regional list. A document that needs automatic duplex and an exact size must meet both conditions in the same arrangement. Envelope handling is a separate normal routine, rather than a promise of two-sided envelope printing.

Computer ports, flash printing and held jobs

Hi-Speed USB and 10/100 Ethernet are included computer-printing routes. The original controller has 128 megabytes and PCL6/BR-Script 3 support. A front USB flash-memory socket can print supported files without a computer, but it is a different connection from the host USB cable and has explicit format restrictions. Its presence does not give this print-only machine a scanner.

Native Secure Print holds a supported password-protected job until the operator selects the user and job and enters the password at the panel. Protected data clears after printing and at power-off. Finite spooling memory can also produce an out-of-memory message. Secure Function Lock, ordinary reprinting and network security are separate controls; no unverified AirPrint or Mopria bridge is attached to that native release routine.

Output rate and color consumables

The exact original rates one-sided output up to twenty-five Letter pages per minute in both black and color, separately from twenty-four at A4. Letter duplex is separately up to fourteen printed sides per minute, not fourteen completed two-sided sheets. These are maker declarations rather than personal measurements. No exact numerical recommended monthly volume is established in the read sources.

Replacement TN-310BK is approximately 2,500 pages, with TN-310 cyan, magenta and yellow approximately 1,500 each. High-yield TN-315BK is approximately 6,000, with the three colors approximately 3,500 each under ISO/IEC 19798. Drum, belt and waste-toner box are separate maintenance items with their own conditions. These declarations do not establish a distinct inbox yield, current running cost or remaining life.

Space and the deciding limitation

The exact unit measures 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 inches. Its 46.3 lb unit declaration is distinct from the carton figure, but the read source does not establish the loaded-supply basis, so loaded weight remains unassigned. The original US electrical specification is 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz.

Leave cassette, multipurpose, rear-path, cable, toner and maintenance room beyond the closed body. Verify usable native software and the actual earlier unit's configuration. If color document capture or an internal wireless radio is essential, choose an exact model documenting that hardware rather than interpreting a family guide or a front flash socket as equivalent.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 25 one-sided Letter ppm in both monochrome and color, separately from 24 A4 ppm. Original duplex declaration up to 14 printed sides per minute at Letter; do not treat it as 14 completed two-sided sheets. No exact numerical recommended monthly volume or maximum duty established.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet MP tray on stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis. Both accept Letter, Legal and A4. The optional 500-sheet lower tray is excluded. Exact US automatic duplex accepts Letter, Legal and Folio with supported stock; ordinary A4 input does not extend that list. Suitable envelopes and single-sheet glossy stock use the instructed MP routine.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Hi-Speed USB and 10/100 Ethernet, 128 MB and PCL6/BR-Script 3. No included wireless radio in exact HL-4150CDN interface column; HL-4570CDW wireless is excluded. Front flash-memory direct printing is a separate socket and file-format routine. Native password-held printing is confirmed; AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct remain unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

TN-310BK replacement approximately 2,500 pages and TN-310C/M/Y approximately 1,500 each; TN-315BK approximately 6,000 and TN-315C/M/Y approximately 3,500 each under ISO/IEC 19798. Separate DR-310CL drum approximately 25,000, BU-300CL belt approximately 50,000 and WT-300CL waste box approximately 50,000 with distinct usage conditions. Separate inbox yield is not established.

Software and support

Native Windows Secure Print stores a supported protected job until the user selects it at the panel and enters the password. Jobs clear after printing or power-off; finite spooling memory can produce Out of Memory. Secure Function Lock and ordinary reprint are separate functions. No invented password length or unverified mobile protocol bridge.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact unit body 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 in. The 46.3 lb unit declaration is distinct from 56.2 lb carton, but loaded-supply basis is unestablished, so loaded weight remains unknown. US original 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Leave MP feeding, cassette, rear path, toner access, cables and service space. Verify usable native software and actual earlier unit.
