Brother HL-L2315DW: 24 ppm wireless monochrome printing with duplex review

A specific 24 ppm wireless variant

The Brother HL-L2315DW is a compact earlier monochrome laser for ordinary black-and-white documents. Its useful combination is a 250-sheet cassette, built-in Wi-Fi and automatic two-sided printing. The deciding limits are equally concrete: it is print-only, its declared one-sided Letter speed is 24 pages per minute, and it has no documented Ethernet arrangement.

Those details matter because Brother’s shared family table includes several similar names. HL-L2315DW appears among the automatic-duplex models, while another 24 ppm variant does not. Other family members have different print rates or interfaces. Use the exact model list rather than treating the whole series as one interchangeable printer.

Build the everyday routine around the cassette

The main tray holds up to 250 sheets of 20 lb plain paper. Its supported ordinary sizes include Letter, Legal and A4. A separate manual feed slot takes one sheet at a time for suitable envelopes, labels, letterhead or other documented stock. That slot is a special-media routine, not another full cassette or a reason to advertise 251 sheets of normal loaded input.

The manual path supports heavier media than the ordinary cassette. Select the correct paper type and follow the rear-output instructions when using the documented straight-through path. The fact that an envelope fits the manual slot does not make it suitable for automatic two-sided printing.

For this USA edition, the automatic-duplex media list specifies Letter, Legal and Folio. A4 is supported as an ordinary input size but is not in that exact duplex list. The general speed table’s reference to Letter or A4 duplex measurement does not override the regional paper restriction. A buyer who requires A4 duplex needs a source that establishes it for the actual edition.

USB, a wireless network, or Wi-Fi Direct

A USB connection supports a local computer printing arrangement. Infrastructure Wi-Fi allows a compatible computer to reach the printer through the wireless network, while Wi-Fi Direct is a separately documented peer connection. These are different setup choices; having Wi-Fi Direct does not establish that every mobile application will support every print option.

The exact product’s connection list does not establish wired Ethernet. The family support table includes conditional headings for wired models, so that generic heading cannot add a LAN port to HL-L2315DW. If a wired office network is essential, choose an exact model whose interface list positively includes Ethernet.

The surviving product page contains general mobile-service disclaimers, but the read exact-model material does not positively establish AirPrint or Mopria for this configuration. We leave those protocol requirements unconfirmed. Check the required application and current driver before relying on an older printer for a new computer or mobile workflow.

Duplex speed and monthly work are separate

Brother rates HL-L2315DW at up to 24 one-sided Letter pages per minute. The separate duplex figure is 13 sides per minute, or 6.5 physical sheets per minute. These manufacturer declarations describe different routines and are not our own measured results. Wireless operation and document type may affect actual throughput.

The recommended monthly maximum is 2000 pages, while the listed maximum monthly duty cycle is 10000. The larger number is a durability comparison, not an invitation to make 10000 pages the routine workload. A sustained job above the recommended range calls for a model whose own recommendation covers it.

Check supplies and physical access

The original package lists starter toner around 700 pages and a separate DR630 drum around 12000 pages under the maker’s stated conditions. A used package may contain different or partly consumed supplies. Neither figure establishes a current cost per page or how soon that particular unit will need maintenance.

The USA body measures 14 × 14.2 × 7.2 in. and weighs 15 lb, with a 110–120 V AC supply specified in the support reference. Leave room for paper, the rear exit and service access. Brother marks this exact model discontinued, so the review is an earlier reference for a compatible installation or a specifically checked older package. Choose an all-in-one when scanning or copying is part of the job.
