HL-L2325DWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A modest black-and-white document routine using Wi-Fi or a direct computer cable.

The main tradeoff

There is no scanner or wired Ethernet connection, and the US duplex-size list differs from the simplex-size list.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an earlier monochrome Wi-Fi printer duplex Letter with 250 included sheets for 2,000 pages per month?

Qualifies with earlier models enabled. Its recommended maximum is 2,000 pages per month; the 15,000-page duty cycle is a separate limit.

Can I require wired Ethernet?

Fails: the exact model supports Wi-Fi and USB, but not the Ethernet connection assigned to other models in the shared table.

Can it scan a color document to my computer?

Fails: this is a monochrome print-only unit. A mobile app name does not add scanner hardware.

A focused black-and-white document printer

The Brother HL-L2325DW suits a small document routine that needs automatic two-sided printing without a large multifunction body. It prints in monochrome, connects by USB or Wi-Fi and has a 250-sheet main tray. The deciding limits are straightforward: there is no scanner and no Ethernet connection for a wired office network.

Brother now marks this exact model discontinued. It remains useful as an earlier reference for someone maintaining an existing unit or assessing a specifically sourced older package. That status does not make the documentation disappear, but neither a surviving product page nor a historical price verifies an available offer.

Check the US duplex paper list

The standard tray accepts Letter, Legal, A4 and other listed smaller paper sizes. For the reviewed US configuration, the actual automatic-duplex specification lists Letter and Legal among its supported sizes. A4 appears in the simplex tray list but not that US duplex list. Do not combine a general regional FAQ with another country's duplex setting when an exact paper size is essential.

The included tray holds up to 250 sheets of 20 lb plain paper. A separate manual feed accepts one sheet at a time for envelopes, letterhead or suitable special media. It is not another 250-sheet cassette. The manual-feed weight limit is higher than the normal tray limit, and automatic duplex has its own narrower paper-type and weight requirements.

For occasional envelopes, the manual feed avoids emptying the main paper supply. It does not make envelopes an automatic-duplex routine. Someone regularly switching between two stocked paper types would benefit from a printer with separately documented multiple trays rather than counting this single-sheet slot as a second normal paper source.

USB and Wi-Fi serve different setups

A USB connection provides local computer printing. Built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi supports a shared wireless-network arrangement, and the maker also documents Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint and Mopria belong to the supported network mobile-printing setup; they are not features carried through a USB desktop cable.

The shared family specification can be misleading if read without its model labels. Its Ethernet line applies to HL-L2370DW, HL-L2370DWXL and HL-L2379DW. It does not apply to HL-L2325DW. Choose this exact printer for wireless or local USB use, not for an Ethernet cable requirement borrowed from another member of the family.

Understand the speed and workload figures

Brother declares up to 26 one-sided pages per minute for Letter or A4. The separate automatic-duplex rate is up to 15 sides per minute, or 7.5 physical sheets per minute. Those are maker ratings under their stated conditions, not measured results from our own print jobs. The specification also warns that wireless operation and document content can affect speed.

The recommended monthly maximum is 2,000 pages. The 15,000-page maximum duty cycle is a different durability comparison figure, not the recommended everyday workload. A household or home office expecting sustained output above the recommendation should assess a printer whose recommended range covers that work instead of relying on the larger duty-cycle number.

Supplies and space need practical checks

The stated package includes a starter toner cartridge rated for approximately 700 pages and a DR730 drum unit rated around 12,000 pages. Replacement TN730 and TN760 toner options have different declared yields. Toner and drum are separate consumables; their page declarations do not establish a current cost per page or guarantee the remaining life of a used unit.

The body measures 14.0 ×14.2 ×7.2 in and weighs 15.9 lb with supplies. Allow additional room for cables, paper loading and rear access rather than treating those dimensions as the complete operating clearance. The US reference specifies 120 V AC at 50/60 Hz.

Choose HL-L2325DW when compact monochrome printing, Letter/Legal automatic duplex and a modest wireless workload fit. Choose an appropriately documented multifunction model if scanning or copying is essential, and an actual Ethernet-equipped model if the network must be wired. Those are hardware differences that software installation cannot supply.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 26 one-sided pages/minute for Letter or A4. The separate duplex claim is 15 sides/minute, 7.5 sheets/minute. Wireless operation can be slower.

Paper handling

250-sheet included tray at 20 lb plain paper; one-sheet manual feed for envelopes/special media. US automatic duplex lists Letter/Legal, not A4.

Computer and mobile connections

USB and built-in Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Direct. The shared specification assigns Ethernet only to HL-L2370DW/XL/HL-L2379DW, not HL-L2325DW.

Supplies and declared yields

Included starter toner about 700 pages and DR730 drum about 12,000 pages. TN730/TN760 are replacement toner options; declared yields are not costs.
