HL-L2340DWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible home-office desk needing shared wireless monochrome output without multifunction hardware.

The main tradeoff

There is no included Ethernet or scanner, and A4 simplex support does not establish US A4 automatic duplex.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it use Wi-Fi and AirPrint while providing Legal automatic duplex and 250 included sheets?

Qualifies on the documented ordinary wireless network, with suitable paper and settings. The printer remains monochrome and print-only.

Can this model plug directly into Ethernet?

Fails: the exact included interfaces are USB and wireless. A wired network port from another family member is not included here.

Does its 10,000-page duty figure satisfy a 3,000-page recommended monthly workload?

Fails: the maker recommends up to 2,000 pages per month. Maximum duty is a separate durability declaration.

Wireless printing without multifunction hardware

The Brother HL-L2340DW suits a compatible home-office desk that needs shared monochrome laser output without a scanner or fax. Its 250-sheet cassette and automatic print duplex handle ordinary documents, while Wi-Fi avoids requiring a USB cable for every printing device. The deciding limits are the missing Ethernet interface and the US duplex paper-size list. A family name or generic network-protocol table should not hide those boundaries.

Brother identifies this exact model as discontinued. Its source-backed specifications remain useful for evaluating earlier equipment, without claiming current availability, condition or compatibility with every new operating system. It is print-only: neither the iPrint&Scan application name nor generic Print/Scan wording in a current network table adds physical document-capture hardware.

USB, ordinary Wi-Fi and a separate direct route

The included interfaces are Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and wireless networking, with Wi-Fi Direct separately documented. AirPrint is positively named for suitable mobile printing on the shared wireless network. USB desktop printing is a different arrangement and does not become an AirPrint route simply because the printer also contains a radio.

There is no included Ethernet connection. If a desk must use a wired computer network, choose an exact model that establishes that port. The original brochure lists older operating systems, mobile apps and cloud services; confirm the compatible driver and service actually needed now. An old cloud logo is not evidence that a retired service still operates, and Wi-Fi Direct is not a synonym for an Ethernet bridge.

Automatic duplex with regional paper limits

The US support specification lists Letter, Legal and Folio for automatic two-sided printing. The cassette also accepts A4 for ordinary printing, but that separate fact does not establish A4 automatic duplex in this regional configuration. A generic duplex speed label mentioning Letter or A4 should not override the actual US media list. Use the correct driver, paper and duplex settings for the documented arrangement.

The main cassette holds up to 250 sheets of the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain paper. A separate one-sheet manual feed accepts suitable envelopes and heavier media with the appropriate loading and output instructions. It is useful for occasional special jobs, but it is not a second stack tray. Neither the cassette headline nor the ordinary duplex support promises automatic two-sided envelope handling.

Keep page speed separate from routine workload

The exact original model branches rate the HL-L2340DW at up to 27 one-sided Letter ppm or 26 A4 ppm. Automatic duplex has a different sides-and-sheets condition. These are manufacturer declarations, not results from hands-on timing here. Avoid combining the simplest one-sided headline with a different paper size or two-sided job to imply a throughput the maker did not state.

The recommended monthly range is 250–2,000 printed pages, separate from the 10,000-page maximum duty cycle. The maximum is not a substitute for choosing a printer suited to a recurring workload. An office expecting 3,000 pages every month should compare an exact model with a sufficient recommended range rather than relying on the higher durability headline.

Supplies, desk space and a sensible match

The supplied starter toner is declared at approximately 700 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. The exact brochure identifies TN-630 replacement toner at approximately 1,200 pages and TN-660 at 2,600, with a separate DR-630 drum declaration around 12,000 pages under its usage conditions. These figures distinguish starter and replacement supplies; they do not establish remaining life, current consumable prices or a cost per page for an individual machine.

The US edition specifies 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The body measures 14.0 × 14.2 × 7.2 inches and weighs 15.0 lb with supplies. Allow paper-loading, manual-feed and service clearance beyond the closed body. Choose it when compatible wireless monochrome duplex printing fits the work. Require a documented Ethernet or multifunction model when wired networking or document scanning is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact original model branches specify up to 27 one-sided Letter ppm and 26 A4 ppm. Duplex has a separate sides/sheets rating; generic Letter/A4 speed labels do not expand the US duplex media list.

Paper handling

The 250-sheet cassette on a 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis supports Letter, Legal and A4. One-sheet manual feed accepts suitable envelopes and heavier media. US automatic print duplex supports Letter, Legal and Folio; A4 is not assigned from ordinary input alone.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Hi-Speed USB 2.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and separately documented Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint works on a suitable shared wireless network. No Ethernet, scanner or currently operational retired cloud service is inferred.

Supplies and declared yields

Approximately 700-page starter under ISO/IEC 19752; TN-630 approximately 1,200 and TN-660 approximately 2,600 pages under the same standard. Separate DR-630 drum approximately 12,000 pages with usage conditions.

Electrical edition and setup

US 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Body 14.0 × 14.2 × 7.2 in. and 15.0 lb with supplies. Recommended 250–2,000 printed pages per month is separate from the 10,000-page maximum duty. Confirm driver compatibility and operating clearance.
