Color documents from a dedicated LED printer

The Brother HL-L3270CDW is a discontinued color LED printer with a 2.7-inch color touchscreen and 256 MB standard memory. It is a dedicated output device: there is no scanner glass, original feeder, copying function or fax. Its useful role is producing network color documents from compatible desktops and supported mobile printing arrangements.

The LED identification matters when reading the exact technical record, even though a source row calls it a color laser printer. It does not turn the machine into the similarly named HL-L3290CDW multifunction model. Nor do NFC touch connection and an application with “Scan” in its name provide missing capture hardware.

Ordinary input and US duplex sizes

The main tray holds up to 250 plain sheets on the declared 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis. A single-sheet manual feed offers a separate path for suitable envelopes and other supported stock. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 input is documented. The manual slot is not a second stack cassette, so it is not added as another full tray in an included-capacity comparison.

The US automatic two-sided media list is Letter, Legal, Folio, Mexico Legal and India Legal. A4 ordinary input and an A4 duplex-speed declaration elsewhere do not override that list. Use the appropriate source, media settings and binding for the intended output, with special-media handling rather than assuming every accepted sheet can enter automatic duplex.

The touchscreen releases native protected documents

The original Windows Secure Print operation assigns a four-digit password to each document. On this exact touchscreen model, the operator opens Secure Print, selects the user and job, enters the password and releases the document. Secure data is deleted after printing and when the machine is turned off. This is a specific held-document workflow, beyond a general statement about network security.

Hi-Speed USB, 10/100 Ethernet and ordinary 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi are included. AirPrint and Mopria provide documented ordinary-network mobile printing, while Wi-Fi Direct is a distinct peer arrangement. NFC touch setup and cloud security features should not be treated as substitutes for the native driver routine. Check usable software for the actual computer, and do not presume every phone application exposes native protected release.

Read speed and workload in their stated units

Brother rates one-sided monochrome and color output up to 25 Letter or 24 A4 pages per minute. Automatic Letter duplex is separately up to eight printed sides, or four physical sheets, per minute. The headline speed therefore does not mean twenty-five completed two-sided sheets, and none of these specifications is a personal timing result.

The recommended monthly maximum is 1,500 pages. The separate 30,000-page maximum duty figure should not replace that recurring-work recommendation. For a requirement of several thousand pages every month, the duty headline alone does not establish a fit, regardless of whether the tray can be refilled often enough.

Four toners and separate maintenance components

The inbox toner declaration is approximately 1,000 pages in each color. TN-223 black replacement toner is approximately 1,400 pages and each color 1,300; TN-227 black is approximately 3,000 and each color 2,300 under ISO/IEC 19798. The DR-223CL drum, BU-223CL belt and WT-223CL waste container are separate items with their own stated usage conditions. Source yields are not current running costs or remaining-life estimates for an individual machine.

The exact body measures 17.3 × 18.1 × 9.9 inches and weighs 40.3 lb with supplies. That width should be taken from the HL-L3270CDW branch rather than a narrower neighboring model. The US edition specifies 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Leave manual-feed, rear-output, cable and service access beyond the closed cabinet when planning a usable installation.
