The Brother HL-L8250CDN is a discontinued dedicated color laser printer for a compatible wired workgroup needing automatic duplex and native protected jobs. It includes USB, Fast Ethernet and 300 sheets of ordinary input. There is no scanner, copier or telephone fax, and the wireless interfaces of nearby CDW variants are excluded.
The preserved lead’s regional specification is actually labeled Other countries, so that label is retained honestly. The exact Brother US product record and actual USA/CAN operating guide establish this US reference. The surviving generic product table also contains no-duplex and smaller-capacity entries that conflict with the original operating specifications. Those conflicts are resolved with the exact model columns and actual duplex instructions.
300 ordinary sheets before the optional lower tray
The cassette holds 250 sheets and the multipurpose tray adds fifty on the stated 20 lb paper basis. Both support Letter, Legal and A4. Adding the optional 500-sheet lower tray reaches 800, but that hardware is excluded from the included total. The shared guide expressly distinguishes a second tray supplied with the taller T package.
Special stock has different handling. Glossy paper is limited to one multipurpose sheet under the original instructions, and prepared envelopes use their separate routine. Neither ordinary-sheet capacity nor the printer’s automatic duplex unit establishes automatic envelope duplex. Match media, source and paper settings to the actual loaded stock.
Legal duplex and precise speed declarations
The USA/CAN automatic two-sided paper list includes Letter, Legal and Folio. Ordinary A4 input does not enlarge that regional duplex list. Suitable stock and the native driver settings must agree with the intended paper path. A size appearing in a general duplex-speed declaration is not treated as overriding the actual media instructions.
The exact HL-L8250CDN is rated up to thirty one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and color, separately from twenty-eight A4 pages. The neighboring HL-L8350CDW’s thirty-two Letter figure is excluded. Letter duplex is separately fourteen printed sides or seven sheets per minute. These manufacturer declarations are not personal measurements or a basis for inventing a recurring monthly recommendation.
Native four-digit document release
The original Secure Print routine stores a protected document rather than printing it immediately. At the panel, the operator chooses the user and job, enters the registered four-digit password with the arrow and OK controls, then releases the copies. Stored protected data clears after one printing or when the machine is turned off.
A full spool can produce Print Data Full. Those storage conditions are part of the actual native routine. USB and Fast Ethernet provide compatible native desktop output, while USB flash direct printing is a separate use. Broad mobile wording in the product record does not establish a particular native mobile password workflow, and no precise unsupported mobile protocol is added to the matching plans.
Controller, print engine and separate supplies
The exact controller has 128 megabytes and a two-line display; an optional memory module can expand the total. The print-method description uses single-pass for its laser engine. That wording does not establish a scanner or automatic original capture. Similarly, compatibility with a TIFF file scanned on another Brother device does not mean this printer captures documents itself.
Included black toner is declared at approximately 2,500 pages and the colors at approximately 1,500. TN-331 and TN-336 replacements have different ISO/IEC 19798 yields. Drum, belt and waste-toner items have separate conditions, including a pages-per-job basis for the belt. These quantities do not establish current running cost or remaining life.
The loaded body is 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 inches and 47.5 lb, with US 110–120 VAC requirements. Leave cassette, multipurpose, rear-output and maintenance access. Verify usable historical software and installed options; included wireless or captured originals require a differently equipped alternative.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Exact 8250CDN up to 30 one-sided Letter ppm in mono/color and 28 A4 ppm, not 8350’s 32 Letter. Automatic duplex separately 14 sides / 7 sheets per minute; Letter declaration retained without A4 permission from generic speed line.2400 dpi quality-class claim differs from 600 × 600 resolution. No monthly recommendation/duty invented.
Paper handling
Included 250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet MP at 20 lb / 80 g/m², total 300, both Letter/Legal/A4. Optional lower 500 reaches 800, but only 8350CDWT includes second tray in shared table. Exact USA/CAN automatic output duplex Letter, Legal, Folio, suitable 16–28 lb. Glossy paper uses one MP sheet; prepared envelopes have separate instructions, not automatic envelope duplex.
Scanning arrangement
Dedicated four-color laser printer with no scanner, ADF, copy or fax hardware. Print-method single-pass wording describes the print engine, not automatic original capture. TIFF files scanned by other Brother devices in direct-print compatibility do not imply this unit scans.
Computer and mobile connections
Included Hi-Speed USB and 10/100 Fast Ethernet. Exact 8250CDN wireless column is dash; ordinary Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Direct belong to 8350CDW/T.128 MB plus optional 256 MB module gives 384 MB; two-line display, PCL6/BR-Script 3. USB flash direct print separate from host USB. Exact US primary broadly mentions mobile without a confirmed precise protocol plan.
Supplies and declared yields
Included black approximately 2,500 and CMY approximately 1,500 pages. TN-331BK/CMY standard 2,500/1,500; TN-336BK/CMY high-yield 4,000/3,500 under ISO/IEC 19798 Letter/A4. Separate DR-331CL approximately 25,000; BU-320CL 50,000 at 5 pages/job; WT-320CL 50,000. No current supply cost or remaining life inferred.
Software and support
Native Secure Print selects user/job and registered four-digit password with panel arrows/OK; data clears after one printing or power-off. Full spool produces Print Data Full. Native Windows USB/Ethernet protected route is positive; do not infer a wireless or native mobile password bridge. Verify usable historical driver and actually selected paper source.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US primary plus actual USA/CAN manual cover/110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz establishes US edition; original retained c=us_ot page honestly says Other countries. Actual viewed body 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 in., 47.5 lb with supplies, not taller/heavier T package. Allow cassette, MP, rear-output, cable and service clearance; confirm any actual optional lower tray.
