HL-L8350CDWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible workgroup needing a dedicated color printer with an MP tray and documented native four-digit job release.

The main tradeoff

It has no scanner, and the 800-sheet configuration requires the optional lower tray or a different CDWT configuration.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a native Windows Ethernet setup print color Legal duplex with four-digit panel release and 300 included sheets?

Qualifies with the compatible native driver, suitable paper and panel release. Exact US operating options support Legal automatic duplex; both color and monochrome Letter output are rated up to 32 ppm.

Does the normal CDW configuration include 800 input sheets?

Fails: CDW standard input is 300 sheets. The 500-sheet lower tray is optional here; the CDWT configuration has different included equipment and dimensions.

Does single-pass print technology give it a single-pass document scanner?

Fails: the single-pass statement describes the color print engine. HL-L8350CDW is print-only and has no scanner or original feeder.

A dedicated color printer for a compatible workgroup

The Brother HL-L8350CDW is a discontinued color laser printer with wired and wireless networking, automatic print duplex and two standard paper inputs. It is a dedicated printer rather than an all-in-one. That can fit a workgroup that already has a separate scanner and wants color document output with native protected-job release. The exact CDW suffix matters because the CDWT version includes additional tray equipment.

The specification's single-pass description refers to the electrophotographic color print method. It does not establish a document scanner, an original feeder or single-pass capture of two-sided originals. Likewise, a direct USB port that prints a file produced by another Brother scanner does not make this machine capable of creating that scan itself.

The standard paper total is 300 sheets

The HL-L8350CDW includes a 250-sheet cassette and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. Their stated plain-paper capacities use 20 lb / 80 g/m² stock. Documented ordinary input includes Letter, Legal and A4. The separate MP input is useful for appropriate envelopes and special media, but its paper-weight, type and loading restrictions still apply.

The 500-sheet lower cassette is optional for CDW and standard on the separately named CDWT. Thus 800 sheets is an expanded CDW configuration, not the ordinary included total. The distinction also changes cabinet height and weight. A reader requiring 800 sheets in the box should identify the actual supplied configuration rather than qualify the shorter CDW from the expansion headline.

US automatic duplex has its own paper list

The original US operating chapter lists Letter, Legal and Folio when selecting automatic two-sided printing in the Windows native and BR-Script drivers. Its specific media table repeats that list. Appropriate stock, binding orientation and paper source must also be selected. Ordinary A4 input does not by itself qualify automatic A4 duplex in this regional assessment.

The exact CDW columns rate one-sided printing up to 32 Letter or 30 A4 pages per minute in both monochrome and color. Automatic Letter duplex is separately up to fourteen sides, or seven sheets, per minute. A generic A4 duplex-speed label in the shared table does not override the more specific US media and operating lists. These remain manufacturer declarations rather than personal timing results.

Four-digit release is a native print-job routine

The Secure Print instructions explain sending a password-protected document from the driver, selecting the user and job at the machine, then entering the registered four-digit password. The job clears after printing and when power is turned off. This is a particular stored-job routine, distinct from administrator passwords, Setting Lock or ordinary network security.

USB, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi provide compatible native printing arrangements. AirPrint is documented separately for ordinary wireless-network printing, and Wi-Fi Direct is a distinct peer route. Neither is automatically credited with every native protected-release feature. Historical cloud-service names in the brochure are not a promise that those services still operate, and original OS lists should be checked against the intended computer.

Color consumables and installation

The original supplies table declares approximately 2,500 black and 1,500 each cyan, magenta and yellow pages for the inbox and standard TN-331 set. TN-336 replacements are approximately 4,000 black and 3,500 each color under ISO/IEC 19798. The drum, belt and waste box are separate maintenance items. The guide also explains that Auto color detection can interpret faint backgrounds as color; selecting Mono for known monochrome content can avoid that particular unnecessary color use.

The US body measures 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 inches and weighs 47.5 lb with supplies, with 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz power. Leave loading, rear-path and service access beyond the closed body. An attached system-requirements PDF actually names MFC-6800 and was excluded from feature evidence. Choose this earlier printer for its verified color output, media arrangement and compatible native controls, with the exact configuration and software checked.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact CDW columns rate both monochrome and color one-sided Letter up to 32 ppm and A4 up to 30 ppm. Letter duplex is separately up to 14 sides / 7 sheets per minute. A generic A4 duplex speed label does not override the US operation and media lists.

Paper handling

250-sheet cassette plus 50-sheet MP tray give 300 standard plain-paper sheets on the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary input is documented. US automatic print-duplex operating options are Letter, Legal and Folio. Optional lower 500-sheet tray is excluded; it is standard on CDWT, a different configuration.

Computer and mobile connections

Included Hi-Speed USB, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and separately documented Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint network printing is documented; Mopria is unestablished in read exact sources. Front USB direct-file printing is separate from a computer scanner and accepts only documented formats.

Supplies and declared yields

Inbox and TN-331 replacement yields are approximately 2,500 black and 1,500 each CMY; TN-336 replacements approximately 4,000 black and 3,500 each CMY under ISO/IEC 19798. DR-331CL drum, BU-320CL belt and WT-320CL waste box are separate maintenance items. Mono driver selection can avoid unnecessary color use under the documented content-detection conditions.

Electrical edition and setup

Discontinued exact CDW model. US 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Body 16.1 × 19.1 × 12.3 in. and 47.5 lb with supplies, distinct from the taller/heavier CDWT. No exact recurring monthly recommendation is established in the read sources. Leave loading, rear path, cable and service space.
