Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can USB support all functions, color Legal feeder capture and 250 included sheets at 21 Letter ppm?
Qualifies with compatible native software, suitable stock and the separate telephone arrangement for fax. The Legal feeder route is simplex.

Fails: the included connection is USB. The networked family members’ interface is not part of this model.
Explore this need in the finder →Can both a required feeder and glass accept Legal originals?
Fails: the feeder accepts Legal, but the glass maximum is 11.7 inches long. Each required route must fit the selected size.

The Brother MFC-7340 is a discontinued monochrome laser all-in-one with USB connectivity. Its useful fit is a compatible single-computer office needing black output, color document capture, standalone copies and separate telephone fax. The 250-sheet cassette and thirty-five-page feeder support ordinary paperwork, but included networking and automatic output duplex are not part of this exact model.
The precise identity resolves misleading generic cells on the surviving page. Its detailed description and original scanner section confirm color capture and a separate glass, while generic cells say monochrome scanning and sheet-fed style. Those conflicting generic cells are excluded. The shared guide's networked and wireless family variants also do not change the USB-only MFC-7340 configuration.
Legal originals use the feeder
The thirty-five-page ADF declaration uses staggered loading on a 20 lb paper basis. It accepts suitable simplex originals up to fourteen inches long. The separate glass is up to 8.5 by 11.7 inches, supporting Letter/A4 originals and appropriate bound material. It is shorter than Legal, so a requirement for both Legal feeder and Legal glass fails.
Native computer scanning is positively documented. The actual WIA routine selects the local scanner, chooses feeder or flatbed, then sets picture type, paper size and other controls. Optical glass and feeder resolutions are distinct from the much larger interpolated figure. Automatic two-sided original capture remains unestablished; a feeder alone does not supply that function.
USB speed and exact model boundaries
The included USB interface is compatible with the USB 2.0 specification but limited to twelve megabits per second. That compatibility label does not make it the faster Hi-Speed transfer mode. The original desktop function table supports local printing and scanning through this applicable connection, with telephone fax using its separately documented phone arrangement.
The exact machine has sixteen megabytes of memory. Ethernet belongs to the explicitly listed N models, and wireless hardware plus BR-Script support belong to MFC-7840W. Native protected PIN release, AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct remain unestablished for this model. An app name or a network chapter elsewhere in the shared guide cannot fill those missing exact-model capabilities.
Ordinary stock and manual two-sided output
The cassette holds 250 sheets on the stated 20 lb plain-paper basis and accepts Letter, Legal and A4. A single-sheet manual path handles suitable envelopes and other instructed media. Opening the rear output provides the documented straight-through route for appropriate thicker stock. Paper type, weight and orientation still follow the actual instructions.
The two-sided driver routine is manual. It prints even pages, asks the operator to straighten and reload the sheets, then prints odd pages. That intervention is materially different from automatic output duplex. The original rates one-sided output up to twenty-one Letter pages per minute, separately from twenty at A4; the faster twenty-three Letter figure belongs to other models.
Supplies and honest installation figures
The starter toner declaration is approximately 1,000 pages. Replacement TN-330 is approximately 1,500 Letter pages and TN-360 approximately 2,600 under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate DR-360 drum declaration is approximately 12,000 Letter pages under its conditions. No exact numerical recommended monthly volume is established in the read US sources, and no current running cost or remaining-life estimate is invented.
The original body diagram gives 16.9 inches wide, 15.6 deep and 12.0 high. Its twenty-two-pound figure explicitly excludes drum and toner, so it is not used as loaded weight. The USA/Canada original specifies 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Leave feeder, lid, paper-path, cable and maintenance room. Verify usable native software and telephone setup; if network capture is essential, select an exact model actually including that interface.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Up to 21 one-sided Letter ppm and 20 A4 ppm for exact MFC-7340. Do not borrow MFC-7440N/MFC-7840W 23 Letter ppm. No numerical recommended monthly volume or maximum duty established in the read exact US sources.
Paper handling
250-sheet cassette on the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis plus one-sheet manual path. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 supported. Suitable envelopes use the manual path and instructed rear straight-through output. The actual two-sided routine prints even pages, asks the operator to reload, then prints odd pages; automatic duplex is not included.
Scanning arrangement
35-page staggered simplex ADF at stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² basis, with original length up to 14 in. Separate glass maximum 8.5 × 11.7 in. supports Letter/A4, not Legal. Color computer capture is positive; generic monochrome-scan and sheet-fed-style cells conflict with actual original hardware and are excluded. Automatic input duplex and single-pass capture are unestablished.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB interface compatible with USB 2.0 specification but limited to 12 Mbit/s, rather than Hi-Speed transfer. Exact MFC-7340 has 16 MB; included Ethernet belongs to other N variants and Wi-Fi/BR-Script to MFC-7840W. Native protected PIN release, AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct remain unestablished.
Supplies and declared yields
Approximately 1,000-page starter toner; TN-330 replacement approximately 1,500 Letter pages and TN-360 approximately 2,600 under ISO/IEC 19752. Separate DR-360 drum approximately 12,000 Letter pages under its usage qualifications. No current cost or remaining-life estimate.
Electrical edition and setup
Original exact body diagram 16.9 × 15.6 × 12.0 in. The original 22 lb / 10 kg figure explicitly excludes drum/toner; the surviving US table does not establish a different loaded basis, so loaded weight stays unknown. USA/Canada original 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Leave feeder, lid, tray, rear-path, cable and service room; verify usable native software and telephone setup.
