Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it print and scan Legal duplex over Ethernet, including single-pass color capture, Legal glass and 300 included sheets?
Qualifies with the compatible native desktop arrangement. The exact model supports Legal print duplex, Legal single-pass ADF scanning and a separate Legal flatbed. Output remains monochrome; analog fax uses a suitable phone line.
Explore this need in the finder →Are 800 input sheets included in the normal configuration?
Fails: standard input is 300 sheets. Reaching 800 requires the optional 500-sheet lower tray.
Explore this need in the finder →Will its color scanning satisfy a color-printing requirement?
Fails: the exact print engine is monochrome. Color capture is a scanner capability, not color toner output.

The Brother MFC-8910DW is a discontinued monochrome laser all-in-one with a useful combination of Legal-size glass and single-pass duplex document feeding. It can print, copy, scan in color and send or receive analog faxes, but its output engine remains monochrome. The exact model is worth distinguishing from other machines in the shared guide because their document handling, supplied toner and loaded weights differ.
The strongest reason to consider this earlier platform is a compatible office routine involving two-sided Legal originals. The source evidence supports both sides being scanned simultaneously rather than merely showing that the printer can print on both sides. That can reduce manual handling of suitable stacks. It does not establish the condition of any surviving machine, current software compatibility or a current recurring-volume recommendation.
Two Legal routes, with different handling
The ADF holds up to 50 suitable originals and the original specification allows duplex originals through 8.5 × 14 inches. Brother's exact MFC-8910DW description explicitly identifies simultaneous scanning of both sides, establishing the single-pass mechanism. That is independent of automatic print duplex. Choose the correct scan settings, original type and binding orientation in the compatible desktop software.
The glass also reaches 8.5 × 14 inches. It is therefore a genuinely separate Legal capture route, useful when an original should remain stationary rather than travel through the feeder. Books, delicate items and unsuitable sheets still need the manual's loading precautions. The existence of Legal glass does not make every object safe to place under the cover, just as feeder capacity does not guarantee reliable feeding of damaged or mixed originals.
Included trays and regional print-duplex limits
The standard paper arrangement is a 250-sheet cassette plus a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. On the declared 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain-paper basis, that provides 300 sheets for documented Letter, Legal and A4 input. A lower 500-sheet cassette is optional. The 800-sheet expanded configuration must not be used as the normal included capacity, and adding that cassette changes the physical installation.
The US automatic print-duplex list is Letter, Legal and Folio. Ordinary A4 input alone does not establish A4 duplex in this regional configuration. One-sided Letter printing is rated up to 42 ppm. Automatic Letter duplex is separately up to 18 sides, or nine sheets, per minute. These different units and modes are manufacturer specifications, not a personal timing test or a promise of completed duplex sheets at the simplex headline.
Keep desktop scanning and mobile printing distinct
USB, Ethernet and ordinary Wi-Fi provide documented native desktop printer and scanner arrangements with compatible original software. The historic system table includes its own restrictions, including limited Server functions; it is not a universal current-computer promise. Analog fax also requires a suitable telephone connection rather than being supplied by the Ethernet cable.
The Secure Print control releases stored print data after entry of a four-digit password. That native protected-job routine is kept separate from AirPrint printing on an ordinary network. A phone app is not automatically credited with every desktop scan or protected-release control. Wi-Fi Direct is documented separately for peer printing, and ordinary network scanning is not borrowed into it without exact support evidence.
Exact-column supplies and cabinet measurements
The MFC-8910DW's original inbox toner declaration is approximately 3,000 pages, not the smaller figure shown for some neighbors. Replacement TN-720 is approximately 3,000 pages and TN-750 approximately 8,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate DR-720 drum declaration is approximately 30,000 pages at one page per job under its conditions. These are declared yields, not remaining-life estimates or current operating costs.
The US edition specifies 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Its aligned original drawing and table give a body 19.3 inches wide, 16.3 deep and 17.6 high, weighing 36.8 lb with consumables. Leave additional cover, feeder, cable and service space. A product-linked system-requirements PDF actually names DCP-8155DN, so it was not used to assign this machine's functions. The exact original guide and MFC-8910DW record provide the relevant evidence.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
US original rates one-sided Letter printing up to 42 ppm. Letter automatic duplex is separately up to 18 sides / 9 sheets per minute. These are manufacturer declarations, not observed performance.
Paper handling
250-sheet main cassette plus 50-sheet MP tray give 300 standard sheets on the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain-paper basis for Letter, Legal and A4. US automatic print duplex accepts Letter, Legal and Folio. Optional lower 500-sheet tray is excluded from included capacity.
Scanning arrangement
50-sheet ADF and Legal-size 8.5 × 14 in. glass. Exact MFC-8910DW product description positively states simultaneous capture of both sides; original specification gives duplex ADF originals through 8.5 × 14 in. Color scanning is separate from monochrome printing.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB, Ethernet, ordinary Wi-Fi and separately documented Wi-Fi Direct. Native desktop printer/scanner functions depend on the compatible original software arrangement. AirPrint printing is positively documented; Mopria is unestablished. Wi-Fi Direct computer scanning is not borrowed from ordinary network scanning.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact MFC-8910DW column supplies approximately 3,000-page inbox toner, unlike some neighboring family models. TN-720 approximately 3,000 and TN-750 approximately 8,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752. DR-720 drum approximately 30,000 pages at one page per job under its conditions.
Electrical edition and setup
Discontinued exact model. US 110–120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Original drawing and aligned columns establish 19.3 in. width, 16.3 in. depth, 17.6 in. height and 36.8 lb with consumables. Recurring recommended monthly volume remains unknown in the read exact sources. Leave cover, feeder and tray clearance.
