MFC-9130CWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible desk needing native protected color documents, one-sided Legal capture and telephone fax while accepting manual handling of two-sided work.

The main tradeoff

This exact CW has neither Ethernet nor automatic print/scan duplex. Neighboring 9330/9340 interfaces and duplex mechanisms are excluded.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can native Wi-Fi combine all functions, color Legal feeder capture, PIN release and 250 included Legal sheets within 1,500 monthly pages?

Qualifies with compatible native software, suitable paper and separate telephone setup. Exact one-sided Letter output is declared up to 19 ppm in both colors.

A color LED all-in-one with important CW limits

The Brother MFC-9130CW is a discontinued color LED all-in-one for a compatible desk needing printed documents, color capture, copying and telephone fax. It includes ordinary Wi-Fi, USB, a thirty-five-page simplex feeder and a 250-sheet cassette. Its recurring recommendation is 300–1,500 printed pages monthly, separate from the larger maximum-duty declaration.

The LED engine is stated explicitly in the original, even though the product title uses the broader laser category. This exact CW has neither Ethernet nor automatic print duplex. The neighboring MFC-9330CDW and MFC-9340CDW in the shared guide add different functions. Their ports, output duplex and automatic reverse-side capture are not inherited here.

One-sided Legal batches and shorter glass originals

The feeder reaches fourteen inches for ordinary one-sided Legal originals, with a thirty-five-page capacity on the stated 20 lb basis. The separate glass stops at 11.8 inches, supporting Letter and A4 rather than Legal. Color capture is positive, but neither the touchscreen nor a duplex setting belonging to another model changes those physical routes.

Native ControlCenter’s PDF routine chooses the actual model and sends the captured file to a computer folder. The touchscreen route can choose a network computer and its file settings. The two-sided scan control is expressly restricted to MFC-9340CDW in that operation. Optical glass and feeder resolutions also remain distinct from the much larger interpolated number.

Native Wi-Fi capture and protected documents

The original computer table supports compatible desktop printing and capture through USB or the applicable ordinary wireless interface. Windows Server rows are network-print-only. Appropriate native drivers, usable Wi-Fi configuration and the intended destination are necessary parts of the arrangement; a broad application name does not establish every modern platform feature.

The actual software guide documents native Windows Secure Print with a separate four-digit password for each document. At the touchscreen, choose the user and stored job, enter the password and release the copies. Data clears after printing or power-off. That native protected routine is separate from AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct printing, which do not establish the same document-password or desktop-scanner workflow.

Telephone fax uses its own documented line setup, rather than the Wi-Fi radio. PC-fax functions also have platform restrictions. A front flash-direct print port belongs to neighboring variants and is explicitly absent on this CW. Old cloud-service names should not be treated as promises of present service availability.

Included input without automatic two-sided output

The cassette holds 250 ordinary sheets on the manufacturer’s stated paper basis and supports Letter, Legal and A4. The separate manual slot handles one sheet at a time, including suitable envelopes through the instructed straight-through routine. Its existence does not supply a second full paper tray or an automatic duplex path.

Both primary and original specification explicitly exclude automatic two-sided printing on MFC-9130CW. Producing two-sided work therefore involves operator handling rather than a documented automatic routine. If unattended two-sided output or originals are essential, choose a configuration that positively establishes those mechanisms instead of relying on the shared family name.

Exact Letter speed and separate color supplies

One-sided output is declared up to nineteen Letter pages per minute in black and color, rather than the neighboring models’ twenty-three. These are manufacturer declarations, not personal measurements. Maximum duty of 30,000 does not satisfy a recurring requirement above the stated 1,500-page recommendation.

Included cartridges are declared at approximately 1,000 pages in each color. TN-221 standard and TN-225 color high-yield replacements have different ISO/IEC 19798 yields; there is no corresponding high-yield black row. The separate drum set, belt and waste-toner box have distinct conditions. The loaded body is 16.1 × 19.0 × 16.1 inches and 49.6 lb, with US 110–120 VAC requirements. Allow original, paper-path and maintenance access and verify historical software before relying on this earlier unit.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact 9130CW up to 19 one-sided Letter ppm in black/color, not 9330/9340 up to 23. No automatic duplex rate transferred from neighbors. Recommended monthly 300–1,500 differs from 30,000 maximum duty; scan/copy numbers not used as print speed.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet cassette at 20 lb / 80 g/m² supports Letter/Legal/A4; separate single-sheet manual slot handles suitable envelopes/special stock. Exact 9130CW automatic output-duplex dash/No, not 9330/9340. Manual feed straight-through output is separate from automatic two-sided printing. Output 100 ordinary sheets or one face-up under source conditions.

Scanning arrangement

35-page simplex ADF at 20 lb reaches 14 in for Legal; glass maximum 11.8 in Letter/A4 only. Exact 9130CW automatic ADF-duplex dash/No, not 9340. Color capture positive; optical glass 1200 × 2400 and ADF 1200 × 600 separate from 19,200 interpolated. ControlCenter PDF routine selects exact model; touchscreen to File uses actual network computer, with 2-sided control expressly 9340-only.

Computer and mobile connections

Standard Hi-Speed USB, ordinary 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and separately documented Wi-Fi Direct. Ethernet and direct flash USB expressly absent on 9130, unlike neighbors.192 MB/3.7-inch touchscreen/PCL6 and BR-Script. Native desktop USB/Wi-Fi printing and scanning positive; Server rows network-print-only. Primary narrative positively AirPrint; Mopria trademark footnote not positive support.

Supplies and declared yields

Included black/cyan/magenta/yellow approximately 1,000 pages each. TN-221BK replacement 2,500; TN-221C/M/Y 1,400; TN-225C/M/Y high-yield 2,200, with no high-yield black row, under ISO/IEC 19798 Letter/A4. Separate DR-221CL set approximately 15,000 at 1 page/job; BU-220CL and WT-220CL approximately 50,000 under original conditions. No current cost/remaining life inferred.

Software and support

Exact actual US-English Software Guide native Windows Secure Print sets a separate four-digit password for each document; touchscreen selects user/job/password. Data clears after printing or power-off. Ordinary Wi-Fi native plan is separate from AirPrint/peer printing without established native PIN or desktop-scanner bridge. Telephone fax uses separate documented line arrangement; cloud names not guaranteed current.

Electrical edition and setup

USA/CAN original 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Exact loaded body 16.1 × 19.0 × 16.1 in., 49.6 lb with consumables, not 9330/9340 heavier rows or carton. Allow lid, ADF, cassette, manual/rear-output, cable and maintenance access; confirm usable native software, Wi-Fi and separate telephone setup.
