MFC-9320CWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

An established compatible office producing one-sided color documents and scanning suitable one-sided Legal originals.

The main tradeoff

Automatic print duplex and automatic duplex scanning are explicitly absent; Legal originals fit the ADF rather than the shorter glass.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can this earlier Ethernet color all-in-one scan a one-sided Legal batch in color with 250 print-input sheets?

Qualifies through the documented simplex ADF and supported desktop software. Its exact one-sided Letter print rating is 17 ppm, separately from the scanner’s routine.

Can I require automatic two-sided Letter printing?

Fails: the exact operating specification says automatic duplex printing is unavailable. Manual duplex is a different process requiring user handling.

Can a Legal original that cannot enter the ADF fit completely on the glass?

Fails: the actual glass limit is 8.5 x 11.7 in. Legal support is through the ADF, not the flatbed.

Color output without automatic duplex

The Brother MFC-9320CW is an earlier color all-in-one for a compatible office document routine. It prints, copies, scans and faxes, with a 35-page automatic document feeder and a 250-sheet paper cassette. Its deciding limitation is that both ordinary printing and feeder scanning are one-sided automatic routines.

The original operating specification explicitly lists no automatic duplex printing and no duplex scanning. Manual two-sided printing is supported, but requires a person to handle the paper. It does not satisfy a requirement for unattended automatic duplex output or automatic capture of both sides of an original.

The actual engine is LED

Brother’s USA guide identifies electrophotographic LED imaging, and the original product description confirms LED technology. It is a toner-based laser-class printer, but we do not claim that it uses a laser beam. The “single-pass” wording attached to its print engine is not evidence of a duplex scanner.

The original guide positively confirms color and monochrome copying and scanning. Some surviving generic product fields instead say black-and-white or sheetfed; those do not override the exact operating guide’s color scanner and actual glass dimensions. No tested print-quality, color-accuracy or reliability result is claimed here.

Legal originals require the feeder

The ADF accepts suitable one-sided originals through 8.5 × 14 in., with up to 35 staggered pages on the stated 20 lb basis. Follow the original type, weight and condition restrictions. A document that is stapled, damaged or otherwise unsuitable should not be fed merely because its dimensions fit.

The glass is shorter, at up to 8.5 × 11.7 in. Letter and A4 ordinary originals fit, while a complete Legal original does not. Use the glass for suitable originals that cannot travel through the feeder, with the ADF empty. A Legal feeder specification cannot be assigned to the flatbed as well.

Color scanning, color copying and the two-line monochrome display are independent features. The display’s lack of color does not prevent color document capture. Conversely, a color engine does not add automatic two-sided handling to either paper output or input scanning.

Separate the cassette from the manual opening

The cassette holds up to 250 sheets of 20 lb plain paper, including Letter, Legal and A4 in its ordinary size list. The manual feed takes one sheet at a time for suitable envelopes and other documented stock. The exact specification has no 50-sheet multipurpose tray and no optional lower cassette.

This matters when comparing other MFC names: a larger model’s paper path or optional tray cannot be added to MFC-9320CW through a shared brand description. Keep the included 250-sheet normal input and the occasional manual-media routine separate. Suitable envelopes are also not automatically two-sided media.

Use its actual computer and supply arrangement

USB, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g wireless support the documented desktop print and scan software. The original Server rows are limited to network printing. Verify the exact driver and application for a present computer rather than relying on a historical OS category. Ad-hoc wireless is not Wi-Fi Direct, and the read sources do not establish AirPrint or Mopria.

The front USB direct interface and PictBridge function are separate from the computer cable port. The control-panel Secure key releases held print data after a four-digit password with compatible software. Analog fax needs a suitable telephone connection, rather than just a network cable.

The declared one-sided rate is 17 Letter pages per minute in color or black, compared with 16 on A4. These are maker figures, not measured results. No numerical recommended monthly maximum is established in the read sources. The original guide lists roughly 1000-page starter toner, separate replacement yields and separate drum, belt and waste-box maintenance items.

Brother marks the exact model discontinued. The USA guide specifies 110–120 V and a 16.9 in. wide, 19.3 in. deep and 15.8 in. high body in its front/side drawing; the support web table reverses those horizontal axes. Allow additional access space. Its 44.3 lb weight excludes drum and toner, so do not treat it as the complete loaded weight. Choose this earlier reference for a deliberately compatible one-sided color workflow.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original USA guide gives up to 17 one-sided Letter ppm in black or color; exact US support separately gives 16 A4 ppm. Manual two-sided output requires handling; there is no automatic-duplex print rating.

Paper handling

Included cassette holds 250 sheets of 20 lb plain paper, including Letter/Legal/A4. Manual feed is one sheet. Exact specification explicitly has no MP tray or optional lower tray; do not borrow a 50-sheet path from another MFC.

Scanning arrangement

Actual 35-page ADF at 20 lb accepts one-sided originals up to 8.5 x 14 in. Glass is up to 8.5 x 11.7 in. Automatic duplex scanning is explicitly unavailable. Color copy/scan confirmed in original USA guide despite malformed product-page fields.

Computer and mobile connections

USB, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g wireless are documented; infrastructure/ad-hoc is not Wi-Fi Direct. AirPrint/Mopria remain unestablished in the read exact sources.

Supplies and declared yields

Original guide declares starter toner around 1000 pages and TN210 replacement yields around 2200 black/1400 each color under ISO/IEC 19798. DR210CL drum, BU200CL belt and WT200CL waste box are separate items.

Electrical edition and setup

USA guide specifies 110–120 V AC. Its front/side drawing shows width 16.9, depth 19.3 and height 15.8 in.; the support web table reverses width and depth. The actual drawing determines these axes. Guide weight 44.3 lb excludes drum/toner, so loaded weight remains unknown.
