The Brother MFC-L2690DW combines monochrome laser printing and copying, color scanning and analog fax. Its 50-sheet feeder handles suitable Legal originals, while the main cassette holds up to 250 sheets. Automatic print duplex is useful for ordinary two-sided documents, but the scanner is a different mechanism: this exact model does not receive the automatic duplex scanning features assigned to the MFC-L2750DW and related variants.
A compatible wireless desktop is its clearest fit. The exact model includes USB and Wi-Fi, with Wi-Fi Direct for a separate peer-printing arrangement. It does not include Ethernet. That matters when an office requires a wired printer or scanner, and the neighboring LAN-capable models in the shared guide cannot supply the missing socket.
Legal originals use the feeder
The ADF accepts suitable originals through 8.5 × 14 inches. Its up-to-50-sheet capacity uses the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² original-paper conditions. The glass is shorter, with a maximum of 8.5 × 11.8 inches. A full Legal original therefore uses the feeder, while appropriate shorter fragile items, books or photographs can use the glass under the loading instructions.
The exact scanner table and operating qualifications reserve automatic two-sided capture for specified 2750 and 2759 variants. The MFC-L2690DW's documented route is simplex. Turning and feeding an original yourself is not single-pass capture or an automatic reversing feeder. Color computer scanning is supported, but the toner output remains monochrome; those are separate requirements.

The original scan-to-PC instructions explicitly include MFC-L2690DW. Over an ordinary network, the user selects the destination computer, and ControlCenter software provides the scan settings. USB provides a separate compatible local desktop arrangement. Historical computer-support lists include their own operating-system and Server restrictions rather than promising every function on every later computer.
AirPrint and Mopria printing are documented separately. They can coexist with desktop scanning over ordinary Wi-Fi, but a phone app is not credited with all native scan controls.
