MFC-L2705DWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible small offices handling single-sided originals and automatic Letter/Legal monochrome output.

The main tradeoff

No automatic two-sided feeder capture or color output; mobile and native controls remain separate.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it handle color scans of single-sided Legal stacks over Ethernet, fax and automatic Legal printing duplex?

Yes, through compatible native software and the separate telephone arrangement. Legal capture uses the 35-sheet feeder, while US automatic print duplex accepts Legal.

Can the feeder automatically scan both sides of each original?

No. The exact model’s feeder is simplex; automatic duplex scanning is reserved for another model.

Can I require color printing because it has a color scanner?

No. It scans in color but prints monochrome documents.

A compact mono MFP with several real connection choices

The Brother MFC-L2705DW is a discontinued monochrome laser reference for a compatible home or small office that needs printing, copying, scanning and fax. It combines a 250-sheet cassette with a 35-sheet document feeder and automatic two-sided printed output. The deciding limitation is original handling: that feeder captures one face at a time. Automatic print duplex should not be mistaken for automatic two-sided scanning.

The exact US product record names the MFC-L2705DW and marks it discontinued. Its specific features include USB, Ethernet, ordinary wireless networking, AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct. Those are useful choices, but each still needs its actual driver, application or network arrangement. An old model reference does not establish current stock or universal software compatibility.

Color scanning does not imply color printing

The product’s explicit feature section describes color scanning, and the model-qualified scanner table independently confirms color and monochrome capture. A generic black-and-white scanning row on the product page conflicts with those positive details, so it is not used to erase color-scanner support. Printed output remains monochrome.

The thirty-five-sheet feeder accepts suitable originals up to Legal length. The flatbed accepts Letter and A4 within its maximum 8.5-by-11.8-inch area. A Legal page fitting the feeder does not fit the full glass. The family table reserves automatic duplex scanning for the MFC-L2740DW, so this model does not satisfy automatic two-sided or single-pass capture requirements.

The actual Basic User’s Guide explains computer PDF capture with ControlCenter 4 and a SCAN-key workflow that selects the destination computer on a network. Install the applicable scanner software, choose the right machine and verify the destination folder. A working printer queue alone is not the whole scanning setup.

Keep native, AirPrint and peer printing expectations separate

The exact family table supports native printing and scanning over USB, Ethernet and ordinary wireless for applicable desktop systems. Some server entries provide printing only. The thirty-two-megabyte controller and two-line display are the correct MFC-L2705DW branch; the larger memory, touchscreen and page-language entries belong to other named variants.

AirPrint is positively listed for compatible devices on a suitable wireless network. Wi-Fi Direct is separately documented as a peer printing choice. Neither feature proves that a mobile application exposes all native-driver duplex, envelope or scanner controls. The direct-printing plan therefore does not borrow computer scanning from the ordinary network plan.

Fax follows the original telephone-line setup and receive-mode instructions. The guide discusses an altered compatibility setting for some VoIP arrangements, which is a conditional troubleshooting measure rather than a guarantee that every telephone service works.

Use the main cassette for everyday sheets

The included cassette holds up to 250 sheets of the stated ordinary stock and accommodates Letter, Legal and A4. A separate manual slot takes one suitable special sheet or envelope at a time. It is useful for leaving everyday paper in the cassette, but it is not another full stack of ordinary input.

The USA/Canada automatic print-duplex routine specifies Letter, Legal and Folio. Ordinary A4 feeding does not establish automatic A4 output duplex. Envelopes use the manual feed and open rear path; the original explains lowering the designated green levers and matching the media settings. Allow room for that operation behind the cabinet.

The exact model-qualified rate is up to thirty one-sided Letter pages per minute. Letter duplex is fifteen printed sides, or seven-and-a-half completed sheets, per minute. Those declarations do not define scanning speed or a recommended monthly workload.

Supplies and installed condition finish the assessment

The actual US/Canada supply list identifies TN-630 replacement toner at approximately 1,200 Letter/A4 pages and TN-660 at approximately 2,600 under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate DR-630 drum declaration is approximately 12,000 pages at one page per job. Inbox toner yield is not established from the read sources and is not borrowed from a neighboring package.

The exact shared model entry lists 24.9 pounds with supplies and 110–120 V AC power. Numeric body dimensions are left unknown because the relevant embedded diagram was not read. Check the actual unit’s software, supplies and working clearance. A documented automatic-duplex scanner is the useful alternative for regular two-sided originals.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 30 one-sided Letter ppm. Letter duplex up to 15 sides / 7.5 sheets per minute. No numerical recommended monthly volume established.

Paper handling

250-sheet ordinary cassette, stated 20 lb / 80 g/m², plus separate one-sheet manual slot. Ordinary Letter/Legal/A4. USA/Canada automatic output duplex Letter/Legal/Folio. Envelopes use the instructed rear path and green levers.

Scanning arrangement

35-sheet simplex feeder accepts Legal; glass up to 8.5 × 11.8 in. accepts Letter/A4. Exact positive color-scan feature and family scanner table take precedence over conflicting generic product black-and-white row. Automatic feeder duplex is MFC-L2740DW only.

Computer and mobile connections

32 MB and two-line display. Included USB, 10/100 Ethernet and IEEE 802.11b/g/n ordinary wireless. Actual USB/network computer scan-to-file operation. Separate AirPrint shared-network and Wi-Fi Direct printing plans do not borrow native capture or controls.

Supplies and declared yields

TN-630 approximately 1,200 / TN-660 approximately 2,600 one-sided Letter/A4 pages, ISO/IEC 19752. DR-630 approximately 12,000 at one page/job. Exact inbox yield unresolved.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US product reference; shared original specification positively names 2705 and gives 110–120 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with 24.9 lb including supplies. Numeric body dimensions remain unknown because the embedded diagram was not read. Fax requires its documented telephone setup.
