Brother MFC-L2710DW: compact monochrome output with a simplex feeder review

A compact all-in-one with a specific scanning limit

The Brother MFC-L2710DW fits a home office or small office that prints and copies in monochrome, captures color originals and still needs an analog fax function. Its useful combination is a 250-sheet cassette, a 50-page automatic document feeder and both wired and wireless computer connections.

The main tradeoff is the simplex feeder. Automatic two-sided printing is documented, but automatic two-sided scanning is not available on this exact model. If unattended capture of both sides is part of the job, choose a model whose own scanner specification positively supports it rather than relying on the duplex label alone.

Use the correct original size and route

The actual USA guide gives the ADF an input range through 8.5 × 14 in. This supports suitable one-sided Letter, Legal and A4 originals. Its 50-page capacity uses the specified 20 lb paper basis, and the original’s weight and condition still need to meet the guide’s feeding restrictions.

The flatbed is shorter, at up to 8.5 × 11.8 in. Letter and A4 fit that route; a complete Legal page does not. An original that cannot safely pass through the ADF needs an appropriate glass size, not just a printer whose paper tray handles Legal output.

The shared family specification includes other models with automatic duplex scanners, larger memory or a color touchscreen. MFC-L2710DW has the documented 64 MB, two-line display and GDI printing arrangement. It does not inherit the 2750-series duplex scanner or a neighboring model’s faster print rate.

Choose the computer arrangement before the mobile protocol

USB supports local computer printing and scanning with compatible desktop software. Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi provide documented network print and scan routes. The original computer table distinguishes those desktop functions from specified Server systems limited to network printing. Verify the exact scanner driver and required application before changing computers.

The exact product lists AirPrint and Mopria for its wireless-network arrangement. Wi-Fi Direct is separately supported. A USB cable does not supply a network mobile protocol, and a mobile printing feature does not guarantee every scanning option in every phone application. Historical cloud-service names should not be treated as current service promises.

Analog fax requires a suitable telephone connection in addition to the selected computer arrangement. Ethernet alone does not provide the phone line, and an old compatibility list does not establish every present telephone service or VoIP configuration.

Keep included paper and duplex sizes together

The cassette holds up to 250 sheets of 20 lb plain paper and supports Letter, Legal and A4 among its ordinary sizes. A separate manual feed takes one sheet at a time for suitable envelopes and other media. It is an occasional special-stock process, not another full loaded tray.

The USA automatic-print-duplex list includes Letter, Legal, Folio and named regional Legal sizes. A4 is supported for ordinary input but not listed in that actual regional duplex table. The manual’s separate A4 speed reference cannot substitute for positive support when A4 automatic duplex is essential.

Match volume and supplies to the routine

The exact model is rated up to 32 one-sided Letter pages per minute or 30 on A4. Duplex is separately 15 sides per minute, or 7.5 physical sheets per minute. These are Brother’s declarations, not our measured tests. The recommended monthly maximum is 2000 pages; the separate 15000-page duty cycle is not the normal workload recommendation.

The listed original package contains starter toner around 700 pages and a separate DR730 drum around 12000 pages under the maker’s conditions. TN730 and TN760 replacements differ, and optional subscription promotions have their own enrollment and cancellation terms. A trial offer is not proof that the printer requires compulsory ongoing enrollment.

The USA body measures 16.1 × 15.7 × 12.5 in. and weighs 26 lb, with 110–120 V operation specified. Leave room for the lid, feeder, paper and servicing. Choose it for the documented simplex scanning routine and monochrome output; choose an actual duplex-scanning model when both sides of a stack must be captured automatically.
