Color documents with a clear one-sided boundary

The Brother MFC-L3710CW fits a compatible small office that wants color documents, standalone copying, color scanning and conventional fax without treating automatic two-sided work as essential. Its 50-page feeder is useful for a suitable stack of one-sided originals. The deciding limitation is that this exact model has neither automatic duplex printing nor automatic duplex scanning. Those are two separate missing functions, even though higher models in the shared manual provide them.

The imaging engine is electrophotographic LED. It belongs in the toner-based laser-class category, but calling it a laser-beam engine would misstate the manufacturer’s technology. Brother marks the exact model discontinued, so use the specifications as an earlier equipment reference and verify the actual machine and compatible software before depending on it.

Choose between the feeder and the shorter glass

The ADF accepts up to 50 sheets under the stated 20 lb paper conditions. Its supported originals measure 4.1–8.5 in. wide and 5.8–14 in. long, allowing suitable Legal documents. Load a clean, prepared loose stack and use the appropriate document settings. Automatic reverse-side capture is unavailable; a two-sided original needs a different handling process or a different scanner.

The glass accepts up to 8.5 × 11.8 in. in the operating guide, while the original brochure rounds the length to 11.7 in. Both descriptions support Letter and A4 rather than a full 14 in. Legal original. A bound or fragile Legal page that cannot travel through the feeder therefore needs a larger glass. Color scanning and copying are positively documented, so colored annotations can remain in a scan file without confusing that capability with the printer’s paper-size limits.

Included input and the correct speed comparison

The normal cassette holds up to 250 sheets of the specified 20 lb plain paper, including Letter, Legal and A4. The manual feed slot takes one suitable sheet or envelope at a time. The 30-sheet multipurpose tray in the shared guide belongs to the 3770 configuration and is not included on the 3710. Count the actual 250-sheet input when comparing included capacity.

The US specification rates the exact model at up to 19 one-sided Letter ppm in black or color, separately from 18 ppm on A4. The 25-ppm Letter branch belongs to other models. Published scan images per minute are another operation and should not replace print speed. A generic web-table field listing duplex paper sizes also does not override the explicit No for this model’s duplex printing.

Wireless scanning and password-held Windows jobs

USB and infrastructure Wi-Fi have positive desktop printing and scanning support in the exact system-requirements sheet. Its Server rows are wireless printing only, so successful network printing does not prove scanner software on that operating system. The original Mac entry supports scanning but limits PC-Fax to sending. Check the actual driver and system before relying on those historical software combinations.

AirPrint and Mopria are documented for a suitable wireless setup, with Wi-Fi Direct available as a separate printing route. Ethernet, NFC and a front USB direct-print port should not be borrowed from neighboring models. For supported Windows jobs, Secure Print holds data until a four-digit password is entered at the machine. The original procedure requires a separate password for each document and deletes held data when power is turned off. That is a specific driver workflow rather than a universal mobile printing promise.

Volume, consumables and physical placement

Brother recommends up to 1500 printed pages per month and separately lists a 30000-page maximum duty cycle. The larger number is not the recommended routine load. The US package includes four approximately 1000-page starter toners under ISO/IEC 19798. Replacement TN223 and TN227 cartridges have separate black and color yield declarations; the drum set, belt and waste-toner box are also separate maintenance items. No current price or remaining-life estimate is assumed.

The actual operating diagram gives 16.1 in. width,18.7 in. depth and 16.3 in. height, with 49.5 lb weight including supplies. Allow room to load originals, extend paper handling and service the machine. If unattended two-sided output or automatic reverse-side scanning matters to your work, choose an exact configuration documenting that particular function and the required document size.
