The Brother MFC-L3770CDW suits a compatible small-office desktop that needs color output and frequent capture of two-sided originals. Its 50-sheet ADF has positively documented single-pass duplex scanning, while automatic print duplex handles a separate output routine. The practical limits are page size, the smaller glass and the 1,500-page recommended monthly maximum. This is a color LED all-in-one, not a claim of laser-beam imaging.
Brother marks the exact model discontinued. Use its documented configuration as an earlier reference rather than a promise of present availability, condition or universal software compatibility. Printing, copying, color scanning and analog fax are all established, but each still needs its proper paper, computer or telephone setup.
Legal feeder scanning is different from Legal glass
The original guide accepts ADF originals up to 8.5 × 14 inches on its specified paper basis. Its automatic two-sided scan instructions explicitly name the MFC-L3770CDW and require the ADF, with the correct long-edge or short-edge binding choice in ControlCenter 4. The exact brochure identifies the mechanism as single-pass. This is stronger evidence than assuming duplex scanning from a duplex-printing headline.
The glass is smaller: the guide gives a maximum 8.5 × 11.8 inches, while the brochure rounds its length to 11.7 inches. Neither establishes a Legal flatbed. Letter and A4 originals fit the documented flatbed dimensions, while ordinary Legal stacks use the feeder. Remove staples, avoid damaged originals and follow the loading directions rather than treating the ADF as a path for any physical object.
Two included input paths total 280 sheets
The standard cassette holds 250 sheets, and this exact model’s multipurpose tray adds 30 sheets of the stated 20 lb / 80 g/m² plain paper. Both paths cover Letter, Legal and A4, giving 280 included ordinary-page sheets. The MP tray’s separate envelope allowance is three suitable envelopes, not 30. Nearby models with a one-sheet manual slot do not have this same supplied input arrangement.
The US automatic print-duplex media list specifies Letter, Legal and related Legal lengths. A generic duplex speed label elsewhere mentions A4, but that should not override the actual US media list to promise A4 duplex in this configuration. One-sided print speed is up to 25 Letter ppm or 24 A4 ppm in either black or color. A duplex sides-per-minute figure is a separate condition, not that simplex headline.
Desktop functions, mobile printing and held jobs
The actual system-requirements sheet supports desktop printing and scanning over USB, Ethernet or Wi-Fi with compatible software. Its Server rows are printing-only. Native Windows Secure Print uses a per-job four-digit password followed by release at the printer. That is a specific driver workflow; it should not be promised as a feature of every phone app or every alternate print driver.
AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are documented. A desktop scan arrangement and separate mobile printing can share the ordinary Wi-Fi network, without claiming that every mobile app exposes every scan setting. NFC touch connection requires a compatible NFC-equipped Android device under the brochure’s stated conditions. The original list also names cloud services whose continued operation is not established here; an old service logo is not a current availability guarantee.
Volume, supplies and room for maintenance
The recommended monthly maximum is 1,500 pages, separate from the 30,000-page maximum duty cycle. The original supply declarations distinguish approximately 1,000-page starters from TN223 standard and TN227 high-yield replacements. Under ISO/IEC 19798, TN223BK is declared at 1,400 pages and its colors at 1,300; TN227BK at 3,000 and its colors at 2,300. Drum, belt and waste-toner parts are separate maintenance items, not additional toner capacity.
The US edition specifies 110–120 VAC. The loaded body is 16.1 × 20.0 × 16.3 inches and 53.9 lb; allow tray, feeder and maintenance clearance beyond that closed footprint. These are maker specifications, not hands-on performance results or current ownership costs. Choose it when supported single-pass document capture and color printing fit the workload. Require a different documented glass size or recommended volume when those limits determine the choice.
