The Brother MFC-L6700DW is a discontinued monochrome laser all-in-one for a compatible workgroup needing substantial ordinary input and fast document capture. It includes a 520-sheet cassette, fifty-sheet multipurpose tray, Legal glass and seventy-page single-pass document feeder. Its print-and-copy output is black; captured originals can retain color.
The advertised 12,000-page cartridge is a replacement option. The exact carton-contents line and original supply table instead declare approximately 3,000 pages for the included toner. This distinction affects what the original package supplies, without establishing any present purchase price or running cost. The separate DR-820 drum is also different from the DR-890 arrangement of MFC-L6750DW.
Legal capture through two different physical routes
The original feeder range reaches 8.5 × 14 inches, and the exact product positively states that both sides are scanned in one pass. Its seventy-page capacity uses the stated 20 lb paper basis. This provides a genuine automatic single-pass Legal capture route rather than an inference from the duplex-printing unit.
The separate glass also reaches fourteen inches for suitable individual or bound originals. Native ControlCenter automatic capture loads the feeder, selects two-sided scanning and chooses long- or short-edge binding. Color, file and destination controls remain part of the computer-scanning routine. The glass and ADF have different optical resolutions; the much larger interpolated figure is not an optical specification.
One native arrangement can support the full office routine
Hi-Speed USB, Gigabit Ethernet and ordinary Wi-Fi support compatible desktop printing and computer capture. Standalone copying and telephone fax have their own document and line arrangements. The original computer table distinguishes these desktop functions from Server rows that provide network printing only. Verify usable native software rather than assuming every current system supports the old software suite.
Native Windows Secure Print sets a four-digit password separately for each document. The operator selects the user and job at the touchscreen and enters that password; data clears after printing or power-off. AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are separate documented print routes. They do not establish that same protected-job or computer-scanner workflow. NFC and the rear host interface belong to MFC-L6800DW in the shared guide. The front flash-memory port provides a separate document routine.
570 included sheets and a narrower duplex-size list
The cassette and multipurpose tray together hold 570 sheets on the specified plain-paper basis. Both support Letter, Legal and A4. Optional lower trays can reach 1,610 sheets, but their capacity is excluded from the included configuration. Suitable envelopes use the separate instructed multipurpose routine, with its own thickness and output-path conditions.
The exact US automatic print-duplex list includes Letter, Legal, Folio, Mexico Legal and India Legal. A4 ordinary input does not automatically enlarge that regional list. Use the instructed media and driver settings rather than treating every input size as equally compatible with automatic duplex.
Recurring workload, speed and the installed cabinet
The recurring recommendation is up to 5,000 pages monthly, separately from maximum duty of 100,000. One-sided output is declared up to forty-eight Letter pages per minute; Letter duplex is separately twenty-four printed sides or twelve sheets per minute. Published capture rates use Letter originals at 300 dpi with advanced features off. These are manufacturer declarations, not personal measurements.
TN-820, TN-850 and TN-880 replacements have different ISO/IEC 19752 yields. The DR-820 drum declaration changes with pages per job and does not reveal remaining life. The loaded cabinet is 19.5 × 16.8 × 20.4 inches and 40.5 lb, with US 110–120 VAC requirements. Leave Legal-lid, feeder, paper-path and maintenance space. A workgroup needing more recurring volume should use an alternative with an explicitly higher recommendation.
