The Brother MFC-L6900DW is a discontinued monochrome laser all-in-one with an 80-sheet single-pass duplex feeder, Legal-size glass and a 570-sheet standard paper arrangement. It fits a compatible workgroup that handles repeated two-sided originals as well as black document output. Its recommended monthly maximum is 10,000 pages, a more useful recurring-workload figure than the much larger maximum duty declaration.
Color scanning and the 4.85-inch color touchscreen do not make the print engine color. The exact model can print, copy, capture color files and handle analog fax, but each function needs its proper arrangement. A suitable telephone line remains separate from Ethernet or Wi-Fi. A surviving discontinued-product record does not establish present condition, availability or software compatibility.
Single-pass feeding and a real Legal flatbed
The exact product description says the duplex feeder scans both sides in a single pass. The operating guide permits suitable ADF originals through 8.5 × 14 inches and gives the exact MFC-L6900DW up-to-80-page capacity on ordinary 20 lb / 80 g/m² originals. The two-sided ControlCenter routine explicitly requires the ADF and the appropriate long-edge or short-edge binding choice.
The glass separately reaches 8.5 × 14 inches. That provides a genuine stationary Legal route for appropriate originals that should not be fed. Books, fragile items and unsuitable sheets still require the loading precautions. The product's up-to-100-ipm duplex monochrome scanning rate uses Letter originals at 300 dpi with advanced features off. It counts captured images under those conditions, not printed sheets or every color-scan setting.
Standard input is 570 sheets
The main cassette holds 520 sheets and the MP tray fifty, giving 570 included plain-paper sheets on the stated capacity basis. Both support documented Letter, Legal and A4 input. MP envelope capacity is separately up to ten suitable envelopes. Paper type, weight and loading settings remain important rather than assuming every medium has the same stack capacity.
The 1,610-sheet lower-tray expansion and 2,650-sheet tower arrangement require optional equipment. They are not the standard carton. Additional trays also change the physical installation. The specific US automatic print-duplex list includes Letter, Legal, Mexico Legal, India Legal and Folio; ordinary A4 input or a generic A4 speed label does not override that regional media restriction.
Native security is separate from a mobile app
The exact original system table supports compatible desktop printing and scanning through USB, Ethernet and ordinary Wi-Fi. Server rows provide their more limited network-printing arrangements. Gigabit Ethernet also requires appropriate network devices and cabling. Check the intended computer and driver package rather than treating an original system list as universal support for later software.
The native Windows Secure Print operation sets a separate four-digit password for each document, followed by selection and release at the panel. Jobs clear after printing and at power-off. That routine is separate from NFC badge authentication, administrator restrictions and AirPrint or Mopria network printing. A phone app is not automatically credited with every native scan control or held-job feature, and Wi-Fi Direct is kept as a distinct peer-printing route.

One-sided Letter printing is rated up to 52 ppm, while automatic Letter duplex is separately up to 24 sides, or twelve sheets, per minute.
