A useful fit for

An established supported color print queue using USB or Fast Ethernet.

The main tradeoff

No scanner or wireless route established; optional cassette and regional package details require care.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can LBP7200Cdn print color Legal sheets automatically on both sides through its native Ethernet queue?

Yes. The exact Cdn manual supports wired CAPT output and positively lists Legal automatic duplex with eligible media weights. Match registered cassette and physical output sizes. U.S. Letter speed is 21 ppm, separate from regional 20 A4 ppm.

Can it scan paper originals to that computer?

No. LBP7200Cdn is print-only, without glass or feeder.

Does its normal input include 550 sheets?

No. Included input is 250 + 50, or 300 sheets. The additional 250-sheet cassette is optional.

A color output device for an established wired installation

The Canon Color imageCLASS LBP7200Cdn is an earlier print-only color laser with USB and Fast Ethernet. It can suit a supported office that already captures originals elsewhere and needs a native color queue with automatic two-sided output.

The exact Cdn suffix matters: the original shared manual separates its network interface from the Cd variant. Its operating source is also identified by region. The U.S. product table supplies the Letter speed and Cartridge 118 identity, while the original regional manual supplies the exact model’s practical CAPT and duplex procedures.

Use the documented CAPT network or USB route

The actual manual identifies Canon Advanced Printing Technology software. Its Cdn network column uses Windows Standard TCP/IP Port 9100 with RAW and explicitly excludes LPR. A port recipe copied from a different printer is therefore not an interchangeable setup instruction.

For USB, follow the documented cable and power sequence and turn the printer on when installation asks for it. The printer uses bi-directional communication, and the guide does not guarantee operation through the unidirectional print servers, hubs or switching devices it discusses.

The network installation chapter distinguishes automatic setup from its historical manual setup method. Those original instructions should be read with their operating-system conditions; they are not a blanket promise that every present-day computer can run the old queue.

Make the cassette registration agree with the job

In the application choose the printer and open Properties. Set the source document’s Page Size and the physical Output Size deliberately. If those differ, the driver can scale the image automatically.

For cassette printing, check Output Size against Register Paper Sizes in the Printer Status Window’s Cassette Settings. Then choose the paper source and type. For the documented special stock, explicitly select the cassette when that is the intended source; Auto can use the multipurpose tray instead.

These controls help explain a common mismatch: physically loading the correct sheet does not necessarily update the driver’s registered cassette size. Check the source, registration and application together rather than repeatedly changing only one setting.

Automatic duplex has a specific media range

The actual two-sided operation lists Letter, Legal and A4 among its supported sizes, with plain paper from 60–90 gsm and heavy paper through 163 gsm. It explicitly excludes other stock from that automatic routine.

Select the required Print Style on the Finishing sheet and verify size, source and type before sending the job. The reverse face is printed first during automatic duplex, so letterhead and other directional stock need the documented loading orientation.

Leave partly emerging paper alone while it returns through the printer. The option for a final one-sided page can alter orientation on preprinted or punched stock, so a faster setting is not automatically appropriate for every document.

Included input and color supplies need separate accounting

The normal included input is a 250-sheet cassette and fifty-sheet multipurpose tray under the manual’s paper-weight basis. The additional 250-sheet cassette is optional. Its quantity is not counted in the base machine, and the general input total is not assigned to every exact size.

The exact U.S. listing identifies Cartridge 118 replacements rated for 3,400 black and 2,900 composite color pages on the maker’s stated standard basis. The regional guide’s generic original-box figures are not assigned as a verified U.S. package quantity.

The original operating guide also distinguishes a color cartridge reaching its end from black toner reaching its end. Its documented monochrome fallback is a supply-state behavior, not evidence that the machine is a monochrome-only printer or that ordinary color work uses no color supplies.

Keep the speed and physical-fit claims exact

The U.S. model is rated for twenty-one one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and color. The regional manual’s twenty-page A4 figure is kept separate. Neither figure establishes a recommended monthly workload or an automatic-duplex speed.

The exact U.S. body is 16.2 by 19.3 by 13.1 inches and weighs 55.1 pounds including toner. Allow additional access for loaded and opened paper paths, and use the appropriate U.S. electrical edition. A workflow needing original capture or a mobile-specific route should select hardware with those functions positively documented.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact U.S. rating: 21 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black or color. Regional 20 continuous A4 pages per minute is not converted. Recommended monthly volume and duplex rate remain unknown.

Paper handling

Included generic input: 250 + 50 sheets at 80 gsm; optional 250 excluded. Actual F-21 lists Letter/Legal/A4 duplex on eligible plain 60–90 gsm or heavy 91–163 gsm stock. Match Output Size and Register Paper Sizes; special cassette stock needs an explicit source.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact Cdn supports USB and Fast Ethernet CAPT output. The regional Cd column lacks networking and is not substituted. Ethernet uses RAW port 9100, not LPR; USB requires bidirectional communication. No Wi-Fi, scanner or mobile protocol is inferred.

Supplies and declared yields

U.S. replacement Cartridge 118: approximately 3,400 black and 2,900 composite-color pages on the declared ISO/IEC basis. The regional guide specifies ISO/IEC 19798 using A4 and default density; its generic supplied yields are not assigned to the U.S. package.

Software and support

Native output uses Finishing/Print Style, Page Setup/Page Size/Output Size and Paper Source/type. Duplex prints the reverse face first, so letterhead orientation matters. A black-output fallback after color toner ends does not make this a monochrome-only printer.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact U.S. body: 16.2 × 19.3 × 13.1 inches; 55.1 lb including toner. The original guide lists separate 120–127 V, 50/60 Hz and 220–240 V editions. Use the U.S. unit rating; this is not an automatic voltage-switching claim. Allow operating access.
