Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible Ethernet desktop combine all functions, single-pass color Legal capture, protected Letter duplex and 150 included Letter sheets?
Yes, with installed native software, registered IPv4 scanning and the separate telephone setup. The exact 634 has fax and a Legal single-pass feeder; the Legal stack limit is thirty and recommended monthly maximum 2,500.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a Legal book use the glass for capture instead of the feeder?
No. Both source glass declarations are shorter than fourteen inches; Legal is a feeder route.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its thirty-thousand-page duty cycle satisfy a recommended five-thousand-page recurring workload?
No. Canon’s distinct recommended monthly maximum is 2,500 pages.

The Canon Color imageCLASS MF634Cdw is an earlier color laser all-in-one for a compatible computer or small network needing print, copy, color capture and fax. Its single-pass duplex document feeder is the main reason to distinguish it from MF632Cdw. The deciding tradeoff is the modest 150-sheet cassette and the continued need to verify usable native software and telephone setup.
The exact US reference is 1475C005. The original comparison positively assigns fax and automatic two-sided document capture to this model; the similar MF632Cdw has neither. The original’s captioned product photograph also identifies 634 specifically, so it should not be reused as evidence of a different feeder configuration.
Both original sides in one pass, within real size limits
The brochure explicitly states single-pass two-sided scanning. The actual US feeder specification confirms an automatic two-sided document mechanism with a suitable original range through 8.5 by fourteen inches and fifty- to 105-gram paper. That establishes a real Legal duplex-input route, independently of the automatic output duplex unit.
The fifty-sheet headline applies to ordinary originals. A specific operating footnote lowers Legal feeder capacity to thirty sheets. Keep the set within the actual size and load limits, and do not assume that a fast duplex image rate permits a larger physical stack.
The glass is shorter. The marketing table gives Letter, while the actual operating specification separately establishes an A4-sized glass range; the source difference is disclosed. Neither reaches Legal length. A book or delicate Legal original that cannot enter the feeder needs another documented glass surface.
Color computer capture is supported, and its optical resolution is separate from software interpolation. Letter scan rates distinguish monochrome and color and use 300-dpi conditions. They are image-capture declarations, not the printer’s nineteen one-sided Letter pages per minute.
Install the scanner where the files must arrive
The actual native operation uses MF Scan Utility, ScanGear MF or a suitable application with the correct scanner selected. It can return an image to an application or save and forward it through the installed utility. Check that the chosen driver exposes the required original-side, size and file settings for the real computer.
USB capture needs installed software and waking the machine from sleep. In Windows, ordinary wired or wireless LAN capture also registers it in MF Network Scanner Selector. The exact preparation chapter excludes an IPv6 scanning arrangement and directs the user to IPv4 or USB. A working network print queue alone does not complete that scanner setup.
The included network interfaces are Gigabit Ethernet and ordinary 802.11b/g/n wireless. Wi-Fi Direct, same-network AirPrint and Mopria are separately documented. The brochure expressly excludes a printer shared through another computer’s USB as an AirPrint arrangement. Retired cloud-service names in the older literature are not treated as present availability.
Small paper supply, useful automatic output duplex
The normal paper drawer holds 150 suitable sheets, with a separate single-sheet manual feed. The marketing total of 151 counts that single position; it does not describe another loaded paper stack. Exact selected numeric capacity is recorded for the documented ordinary Letter configuration.
The US operating paper table positively supports Letter, Legal and A4 automatic output duplex. Its icon-coded cells were read in the raw original table against the explicit legend. Envelopes do not support automatic duplex. For this smaller 630 platform, the original recommends feeding appropriate envelopes from the drawer because manual feeding may skew them.
Native Secure Print sends a held document from the compatible driver and releases it after document selection and PIN entry at the panel. Held jobs expire and consume memory, so collect them deliberately. That native workflow is separate from mobile protocol printing or administrative Department ID settings.
Fax, supplies and an earlier office installation
The exact 634 includes the Super G3 fax arrangement, with PC fax sending separately documented. It needs its appropriate telephone connection; the modem’s maximum rate is not a network-scan rate or a promise about every phone service. The recommended monthly print range is 200–2,500 pages, separately from thirty-thousand-page maximum duty.
Included Cartridge 045 black is declared at 1,400 pages and the three color starters at 690 each. Standard and high-capacity replacements have different ISO/IEC declarations; no current cost or remaining cartridge life is assumed.
The detailed original body is 17¾ inches wide, 18⅛ deep and 15¾ high, about 48.5 pounds including toner, with US 120–127 V, 60 Hz power. Allow open-tray, rear-cover, lid and service clearance. A larger documented input configuration is the useful alternative when frequent paper replenishment dominates the routine.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
19 one-sided Letter ppm both colors; brochure automatic duplex 11.3 ppm versus surviving web rounded eleven, original unit retained. Exact Letter scan conditions differ from print speed. Recommended 200–2,500 monthly pages versus maximum duty 30,000.
Paper handling
150-sheet ordinary cassette plus one-sheet manual feed; advertised 151 counts a single feed position, not another normal stack. Exact selected numeric capacity assigned to Letter only. Actual US table confirms Letter/Legal/A4 automatic duplex; envelopes simplex, with drawer recommended for alignment on this platform.
Scanning arrangement
Exact 634 single-pass automatic duplex feeder, Legal range and 50–105 g/m² originals. Fifty ordinary originals but thirty Legal per explicit operating footnote. Marketing Letter glass and detailed original A4 glass range differ; no Legal glass. Native USB or registered IPv4 computer capture, not IPv6.
Computer and mobile connections
1 GB shared, five-inch touchscreen, exact UFR II, USB, Gigabit Ethernet, ordinary 802.11b/g/n and separate Wi-Fi Direct. Native USB/LAN capture and PIN are supported with actual software; mobile protocols stay separate. Telephone fax is positively included on 634 and absent on 632.
Supplies and declared yields
Included Cartridge 045 black 1,400 and CMY starters 690 each, maker ISO/IEC declaration. Standard CMY replacements 1,300 each; high-capacity black 2,800 and CMY 2,200 each. Integrated toner/drum cartridge system; no price or remaining-life claim.
Software and support
MF Scan Utility/ScanGear or compatible application returns actual computer files; USB wake and Windows LAN registration required. Native driver Secure Print uses held document/PIN panel collection with memory/expiry limits. Same-network AirPrint/Mopria does not inherit native scanner or PIN controls.
Electrical edition and setup
Detailed original body 17¾ W × 18⅛ D × 15¾ H inches; 48.5 lb including toner. Marketing rounds to 17.8 × 18.1 × 15.7 and 48.4 lb. US 120–127 V AC, 60 Hz. Allow much deeper open-drawer/manual/rear-cover footprint, glass lid and phone/cable/service room.
