Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can MF733Cdw combine native color Legal duplex and PIN-held output with single-pass Legal color capture to an Ethernet folder?
Yes. Exact MF733 specifications confirm single-pass capture, and the folder procedure provides Book/Calendar controls. Configure the registered folder and native queue. The glass remains smaller than Legal.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a bound Legal document be scanned flat on the glass?
No. The glass is Letter/A4 class. A suitable loose Legal original uses the feeder.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its 50,000-page maximum duty satisfy a 5,000-page recommended monthly workload requirement?
No. Canon recommends 750–4,000 monthly pages. Maximum duty is a separate measure and does not satisfy that higher recommended-volume requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →A color office model whose feeder is genuinely single-pass
The Canon Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw is an earlier four-function color laser with analog fax, automatic print duplex and a positively documented single-pass duplex feeder. It suits a supported office that regularly converts two-sided loose originals into digital files while maintaining a native color print queue.
The practical limit is original placement. Legal documents fit the feeder, but not the Letter/A4 glass. A bound Legal original therefore needs a different capture arrangement even though a loose Legal stack is supported.
Prepare a real destination for two-sided file capture
The actual guide documents sending directly to a shared folder or FTP server. Prepare the save location and access details first, and register that destination from a computer. The printer’s successful network connection does not itself create folder permissions.
At the panel select Scan and File, then the registered destination. Set the original size, color mode, file format and orientation. Two-Sided Original offers Book Type and Calendar Type so the reverse side is oriented correctly.
The exact MF733 U.S. specification supplies the single-pass identity for that actual both-face workflow. It is not inferred from duplex printing or from a generic feeder icon. The related MF731 has a different original-capture capability and should not be substituted.
Check stack size and file format before starting
The operating guide gives fifty ordinary originals at the stated 80 gsm basis, but thirty for Legal. Keep suitable sheets aligned, within the limit and free of staples or troublesome curls. A feeder quantity without its size condition is incomplete advice for a long-document routine.
For JPEG from the glass, the documented operation handles one page. PDF and TIFF can combine or divide multipage work through their own options. Compact PDF trades image representation for smaller data, and searchable PDF adds its OCR-based behavior rather than promising perfect recognition.
Ordinary computer scanning is another supported route through MF Scan Utility, ScanGear or an application. Windows LAN registration uses IPv4 and MF Network Scanner Selector. USB avoids that network registration, but the machine should be awake before capture.
Use native output settings for the paper actually loaded
The exact U.S. listing identifies UFR II for MF733Cdw. Install the supported native queue and register size and type at the machine. Check the application’s page settings and driver preferences before sending output.
The actual paper cells mark Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic duplex, with eligible media categories. Labels and envelopes are excluded from that two-sided path. The heaviest medium accepted for a one-sided job is not automatically a duplex medium.
The base drawer and multipurpose source provide 250 and fifty normal sheets under the manual’s conditions. A 550-sheet AF source is optional hardware and also requires driver recognition. The generic three-hundred-sheet total is not treated as a proven quantity for every exact size.
PIN-held output and mobile printing have different controls
Choose Secured Print in the native driver’s Output Method. The transmitted job remains in machine memory until collected or expired. At the panel select Secure Print, the job checkbox and Start, then enter the PIN and apply it.
Retained work consumes memory. Collect it promptly and close a Remote Scanner screen if it blocks release. The administrator can change the retention interval; that setting is distinct from an account or address-book PIN.
AirPrint and Mopria are separately documented output methods for compatible devices and applications. They do not automatically inherit the native driver’s PIN release or every exact media control. Analog fax likewise has its own telephone-line setup.
Use the recommendation, not maximum duty, for workload
Canon rates one-sided plain Letter output at twenty-eight pages per minute in black or color, with twenty-three duplex pages per minute separately. The recommended range is 750–4,000 pages per month. The fifty-thousand-page maximum duty does not turn a larger sustained requirement into a supported recommendation.
Supplied 046 toner is rated for 2,200 black pages and 1,200 pages for each color. Standard and high-capacity replacements have different declared figures under ISO/IEC 19798 using A4 and default density. Do not use replacement color yield as the original-box quantity.
The actual loaded body is 58.4 pounds and 18½ by 18½ by 18⅛ inches. Allow substantially more depth for the opened paper path and confirm exact software compatibility before relying on this historical all-in-one arrangement.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
28 one-sided plain Letter pages per minute in black or color; 23 duplex Letter pages per minute is separate. Recommended monthly volume: 750–4,000, versus 50,000 maximum duty. Scan images per minute are not print pages per minute.
Paper handling
Included generic input: 250 + 50 sheets at 64/80 gsm; optional 550-sheet AF excluded. Letter/Legal/A4 native duplex uses the actual model-specific media categories, excluding labels/envelopes.
Scanning arrangement
Exact MF733 has a single-pass duplex Legal feeder: 50 ordinary originals at 80 gsm or 30 Legal originals. Glass is Letter/A4. The actual File Book/Calendar controls establish both-face delivery to a LAN folder.
Computer and mobile connections
USB, Gigabit Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi are documented, with IPv4 Windows scanner registration. Exact MF733 has fax and NFC; the native route uses UFR II. Mobile direct mode is separate from normal LAN computer capture.
Supplies and declared yields
Supplied 046: 2,200 black and 1,200 each C/M/Y. Replacement black 2,200 and each color 2,300; high-yield black 6,300 and each color 5,000 under ISO/IEC 19798 using A4 and default density. Replacement color yield is not assigned to supplied toner.
Software and support
Native PIN release uses the job checkbox, Start, PIN and Apply, with expiry, memory and Remote Scanner restrictions. Mobile protocols are separate. MF735-specific PostScript and optional uniFLOW are not assigned.
Electrical edition and setup
Actual body: 18½ × 18½ × 18⅛ inches; 58.4 lb including toner. U.S. power: 120–127 V, 60 Hz. Open paper-path depth reaches 43¾ inches; closed body is not the full operating footprint.
