Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a supported USB computer print monochrome Legal documents and supported envelopes through the L80?
Yes. The exact native USB printer driver and documented Legal/envelope input support those separate output routines. Use the proper paper setting and face-up envelope delivery.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the included paper input meet a requirement for 101 sheets?
No. The normal-paper input is approximately 100 sheets within its stated stack-height limit. Feeder and output quantities are separate.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the USB printer driver establish computer scanning of a paper original?
No documented computer-capture route is established. The physical feeder’s fax/copy function and the printer driver do not supply that evidence.
Explore this need in the finder →A fax-centered device with documented USB printing
The Canon FAXPHONE L80 is an earlier monochrome laser fax, copier and computer printer. It can be useful within an established arrangement that still has suitable telephone service and exact compatible printer software. Its original handling is through a feeder rather than a flatbed.
The deciding boundary is that this is not a documented modern computer-capture workflow. Its feeder scans for fax and copying, while the USB software guide describes a printer driver. Neither fact alone establishes scanning into a computer or a current mobile-printing protocol.
Follow the driver installation sequence
The actual software guide tells the user to begin installation before connecting USB. If a new-hardware prompt appears prematurely, cancel it and disconnect the cable. Connect the machine only when the installation process requests it.
Those instructions use historical Windows environments, so they are operating evidence rather than a promise that every present system has an appropriate driver. Check the exact computer and software before relying on an existing L80. A cable in the printer port does not configure an unsupported operating system.
Once installed, select L80 in the application’s print dialog. Page Setup distinguishes the document’s Page Size from its physical Output Size. Choosing a different output size scales the content, which matters when printing forms that must retain their dimensions.
Profiles and quality controls change output behavior
The driver provides page layout, orientation and manual scaling, with a View Settings summary. A profile can retain a recurring combination, making it useful for repeated document types. Review that profile when changing paper or the intended result.
The Quality controls separately adjust resolution, halftoning, brightness and contrast. Toner Saver is a draft-output option. These are software controls described by Canon, not evidence of a measured print-quality result or a guaranteed toner saving in a particular office.
Input, original feeding and output have different capacities
The single multipurpose paper input holds approximately 100 sheets of the specified ordinary stock within its stack-height limit. The original feeder holds thirty Letter or A4 originals, or ten Legal originals, at its stated weight basis. Those quantities describe different parts of the machine and are not added together.
Load original documents face down and adjust their guides. The feeder takes pages from the bottom of a stack. A single long original has a different allowance from a uniform multipage stack, so that long-sheet maximum does not describe a stack of oversized originals.
For copies, use Start/Copy, choose Text or Photo quality, set reduction if required and enter the quantity. The guide distinguishes the resolution for a single copy from multiple-copy memory processing. A large graphic job can exhaust memory and may require smaller groups.
Select the delivery path before the job starts
Face-down output collects ordinary paper in order and has a separate approximate fifty-sheet capacity. Face-up delivery is required for the documented envelopes and transparencies. Leave the delivery slot unobstructed and remove output as instructed.
The guide supports up to seven suitable envelopes in the input. Prepare them, load their print face toward the operator, set the envelope size and choose face-up delivery before printing. Do not change the delivery selector while paper is moving through the machine.
The telephone arrangement remains separate
Connect the supplied telephone cord and choose the receive mode appropriate to the handset or external answering device. A suitable line and compatible receive arrangement are prerequisites; USB printing does not supply them. The original reference to fax broadcasting is not an Ethernet or Wi-Fi specification.
The supplied FX-3S starter and replacement FX-3 are declared at approximately 1,500 and 2,700 pages using five-percent coverage of A4. That basis is distinct from a later ISO yield declaration, and it does not establish current running costs.
The U.S. guide specifies 120–127 V at 60 Hz and space around the machine for ventilation and paper flow. Recommended monthly volume and automatic duplex are not established here. An office needing shared mobile output, automatic two-sided packets or computer original capture needs those capabilities positively documented on another device.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Original guide describes approximately 6 Letter pages per minute, with its stated maker chart conditions. It does not establish a separately qualified one-sided Letter benchmark or recommended monthly workload.
Paper handling
Single normal input approximately 100 sheets at 75 gsm within 10 mm stack height; seven supported envelopes or one transparency. Face-down output is approximately 50 sheets and is not added to input. Exact-size input map remains empty.
Scanning arrangement
Physical feeder serves fax/copy: 30 Letter/A4 or 10 Legal originals at 75 gsm. A single long original has a separate allowance from a multipage stack. No computer/color capture or automatic duplex mechanism is established.
Computer and mobile connections
Documented USB desktop printer driver and separately prepared analog telephone arrangement. No Ethernet, wireless radio or mobile protocol is inferred from fax broadcasting terminology.
Supplies and declared yields
Supplied FX-3 S starter: approximately 1,500 pages; replacement FX-3: 2,700, both at 5% A4 coverage. This is not an ISO/IEC 19752 declaration.
Software and support
Actual software guide uses historical Windows 98/Me/2000/XP examples. USB is connected when installation prompts. Page Setup and Quality profiles affect printer output, not scanner functions.
Electrical edition and setup
U.S. power: 120–127 V, 60 Hz, with grounded supply. Allow approximately four inches around the machine plus unobstructed delivery access. The 22 lb figure includes attached components without an explicit loaded-toner basis; loaded weight and unverified diagram axes remain unknown.
