imageCLASS D1320Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A supported USB or wired document workflow needing Legal original capture and automatic duplex monochrome output.

The main tradeoff

It omits fax and PIN-held computer output; single-pass mechanics and a recommended monthly range remain unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can D1320 capture Legal originals on glass or automatically from both feeder faces while printing duplex Legal monochrome documents on supported USB?

Yes, through the supported native driver and MF Toolbox arrangement. Both capture routes reach Legal, and eligible Legal output is marked for automatic duplex. Use the correct rear paper-size lever position and feeder binding setting.

Can this exact model hold a computer print job for PIN release at the panel?

No. The actual series control page reserves Secure Print for D1370. Department ID authentication does not add that held-job function to D1320.

Does D1320 include telephone fax with its print, copy and scan functions?

No. The actual manual reserves fax operation for D1370 and D1350; D1320 is the print/copy/scan member.

Legal capture without the family’s fax functions

The Canon imageCLASS D1320 is an earlier monochrome laser model for printing, copying and color computer scanning. Its useful document-handling feature is a Legal-size glass as well as a Legal-capable feeder. That gives an office a route for long originals that should not pass through the automatic path.

The exact model omits telephone fax. The shared manual reserves fax for D1370 and D1350, and Secure Print for D1370. A generic reference to fax installation on a shared LCD description does not give D1320 those controls.

Prepare a supported computer workflow

Standard interfaces are USB and wired 10/100 Ethernet. Install the exact native drivers and MF Toolbox for the intended workstation. The documented Windows network-capture workflow registers the scanner in MF Network Scan Utility and uses IPv4; IPv6 is listed for printing only.

At the device, choose Remote Scanner. On the computer, open MF Toolbox, select a suitable mode and set the original source, size, color, save format and destination. Input Method selects one-sided or two-sided originals, and the binding setting controls the reverse-face orientation.

The panel can instead send a preset capture to a registered computer. The network arrangement permits ten connected computers at once; an additional destination requires releasing another registration or turning another computer off. Close the MF Toolbox settings window if it prevents starting from the panel.

Windows examples are not a universal Mac feature list

The actual Macintosh appendix sends users to separate printer and scanner guides. It explicitly lists some unavailable Mac features, including creating Searchable PDF and combining multiple data into one PDF, along with WSD and certain print features.

A Mac user should therefore verify the intended utility and file workflow rather than assume every Windows screenshot applies. Likewise, MF Toolbox Mail prepares an attachment through the computer’s application. Direct device-to-email and file-server sending belong to D1370 in this manual.

Distinguish original size, stack quantity and scanner mechanism

Both the glass and feeder reach 8.5 by 14 inches. The feeder holds 50 Letter originals but 30 Legal originals at 80 gsm. Two-sided feeding has a 64–105 gsm original-weight range. A generic 50-sheet label should not be used as a Legal stack promise.

Use the glass for suitable books, photographs and fragile documents, observing the stated load and thickness limits. Prepare feeder originals without staples, curled edges or wet correction fluid. Automatic two-sided intake is confirmed, but the read originals do not identify its mechanism as single-pass.

The actual scanner table also separates optical resolution: up to 600 by 600 dpi on glass and 300 by 300 through the feeder. Software interpolation is a different figure. Color scanning does not make the laser output color.

Set the physical duplex lever as well as the driver

The output-paper table marks Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic duplex on eligible stock. Set the rear blue paper-size lever to the documented position: push for Letter or Legal, pull for A4. Close the sub-output tray and choose two-sided printing with the correct binding edge in the native driver.

A sheet partly exits before returning inside for its reverse face. Do not pull it out during that cycle. Manual reverse-side feeding is a separate procedure, and labels or envelopes do not become automatic-duplex media simply because they fit an input path.

The included cassette and multipurpose tray total approximately 550 normal sheets at the stated weight basis. The optional 500-sheet U1 is excluded. Envelopes have a separate five-piece multipurpose limit. The generic normal capacity is not converted into a verified capacity for every paper size.

Read the starter, speed and loaded-weight declarations separately

Cartridge 120 Starter is rated for 2,300 sheets, while replacement Cartridge 120 is rated for 5,000. Both use the manual’s ISO/IEC 19752 A4 test at default density. Document coverage and operating conditions change the interval.

Canon declares up to 35 one-sided Letter ppm and separately 17 two-sided Letter ppm. The 20,000-page maximum monthly duty is not a recommended workload. The exact operating manual gives D1320 a loaded weight of approximately 46.7 lb and a body 17¾ inches wide, 18⅝ deep and 18⅜ high. Plan additional space for paper, open covers and service access.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 35 one-sided plain-Letter ppm and 17 two-sided Letter ppm. Scanner optical resolution is 600 by 600 dpi on glass and 300 by 300 through the feeder; larger interpolation is not optical.

Paper handling

Included normal supply is 500 cassette sheets plus 50 multipurpose, at 60–89 gsm. Optional 500-sheet U1 is excluded. Envelopes use a separate five-envelope multipurpose limit and are not automatic-duplex stock.

Scanning arrangement

Legal glass and feeder; feeder holds 50 Letter or 30 Legal originals at 80 gsm. Two-sided originals require 64–105 gsm. Automatic duplex capture is confirmed but single-pass mechanism is unestablished.

Computer and mobile connections

USB device and wired 10/100 Ethernet are standard. IPv6 is listed for printing only. Built-in Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and mobile print protocols are not established.

Supplies and declared yields

Supplied Cartridge 120 Starter: 2,300 sheets. Replacement Cartridge 120: 5,000. Actual manual uses ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density for both, with actual document variation.

Software and support

D1320 prints, copies and captures color files, but has no telephone fax. Secure Print and direct e-mail/file-server sending belong to D1370. Department ID is not per-job PIN release. Windows and Mac capabilities differ. Maximum duty 20,000 is not a recommended monthly range.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact normal body is 17¾ by 18⅝ by 18⅜ inches, approximately 46.7 lb including toner for D1320. Optional feeder changes height; operating clearance is larger. U.S. power is 120–127 V, 60 Hz.
