imageCLASS D530Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A supported individual desk scanning books, cards and single sheets while printing duplex documents.

The main tradeoff

D530 has no feeder, and Legal originals do not fit the glass; no network capture route is established.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can D530 combine native USB monochrome Legal duplex printing with color capture of a Letter original on the glass?

Yes. Exact print-paper footnotes support Legal duplex, while D530 glass supports Letter color capture. Install the supported native printer/scanner software and select the appropriate glass routine.

Can it automatically feed a stack of originals for computer scanning?

No. The actual guide explicitly states D530 has no feeder. The D560-only component is not inherited.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can it scan a full Legal original flat on the glass?

No. Legal is a documented output size, but the glass is Letter/A4 class.

A glass-based USB multifunction model

The Canon imageCLASS D530 is an earlier monochrome laser printer and copier with color original capture through its glass and a supported USB computer connection. It suits an established single-computer desk where books, cards and individual sheets matter more than unattended stacks.

The exact D530 boundary is unusually clear in the original guide: it is not equipped with the feeder. The D560 illustrations and feeder instructions elsewhere in the same document do not add that hardware to D530. Automatic print duplex remains a separate positive function.

Choose the capture method that fits the document

Place the original face down on the glass and align it with the size marks. Use the arrow alignment for a suitable nonstandard original. The glass is in the Letter/A4 class, so Legal output capability does not mean that a full Legal original fits flat.

For panel capture, choose Scan, Computer and the desired preset, then confirm. The actual guide distinguishes color PDF, monochrome TIFF and custom JPEG or PDF presets. Their file behavior is a reason to check the chosen preset before beginning a repeated job.

A multipage glass sequence uses Scan Next Original followed by Store and Finish. Each next original is a manual placement. This can produce a useful combined document, but it is not automatic stack feeding or automatic both-face original capture.

MF Toolbox provides a separate computer workflow

Install the exact supported scanner software and MF Toolbox. Select Remote Scanner at the machine, open MF Toolbox 4.9 on the computer and choose the required mode. Set original size, color, resolution, file type and destination before starting.

The PDF settings distinguish a single-page file, a multipage file and adding captured pages to an existing PDF. The Mail button prepares an attachment through the computer’s email application; it does not establish a direct SMTP sender inside the printer.

For more detailed control, select Display the Scanner Driver and start the ScanGear window. Preview, crop or rotate the original as needed, then scan. A larger interpolated resolution is not the same as the scanner’s optical specification, and larger files are not automatically a better fit for every task.

Native duplex printing needs matching paper settings

Install the supported UFR II LT printer driver, select the queue in the application and open Preferences or Properties. Register the loaded size and type and check the output settings. Page scaling can change the result if the source page and physical output size differ.

The actual e-Manual positively marks Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic two-sided printing. In the native Basic Settings choose two-sided output and the binding edge, then send the job. Eligible media categories have their own restrictions; not every medium that can enter the cassette belongs in the duplex path.

Directional letterhead needs the appropriate loading orientation. The guide distinguishes normal one-sided and two-sided loading, with an additional Print Side Priority setting. That physical setup remains relevant even when the document looks correct on screen.

Read paper quantity on the actual weight basis

The normal cassette and one-sheet manual source provide 250 plus one sheets on the stated light plain-paper basis. Heavier stock reduces the cassette quantity. The manual source is useful for an occasional alternate sheet, not a large multipurpose tray.

Envelope types and capacities have separate conditions, with Monarch confined to the manual source. Register changes to size or type rather than assuming that loading a different medium updates the queue. The general capacity is not treated as a verified quantity for every exact size.

Supplies, body size and workload complete the fit

The exact U.S. listing rates Cartridge 128 replacements for approximately 2,100 pages on its declared standard basis. A separate supplied-toner yield is not established here. Preserve the actual cartridge handling and seal-removal instructions when replacing it.

Canon separates twenty-six one-sided plain Letter pages per minute from sixteen duplex pages per minute. Its ten-thousand-page maximum duty does not supply a recommended sustained monthly workload.

The actual D530 body measures 15⅜ by 17⅛ by 12 inches and weighs 27.1 pounds including toner. Allow ventilation and access beyond that rectangle, and confirm exact software support before relying on this historical USB arrangement. A routine needing a feeder or Legal glass needs separately documented hardware.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

26 one-sided plain Letter pages per minute; 16 duplex Letter pages per minute is separate. A 10,000-page maximum duty is not a recommended volume. Scanner optical resolution is 600 dpi, separate from 9,600 dpi interpolation.

Paper handling

250 ordinary sheets at 60–80 gsm plus one manual sheet. Heavier stock reduces quantity, including the documented 170-sheet condition. Exact-size quantity is unknown. Native Letter/Legal/A4 duplex is documented; labels/envelopes do not inherit it. Monarch uses manual feed.

Scanning arrangement

D530 explicitly has no feeder. USB Computer/MF Toolbox/ScanGear supports Letter/A4 glass color capture. Legal output does not establish Legal glass. Automatic both-face original capture is unavailable.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact USB native printing and computer capture are documented. No Ethernet/Wi-Fi route is established. Analog fax and mobile protocols are not inferred from generic software or navigation.

Supplies and declared yields

Replacement Cartridge 128: approximately 2,100 pages under the exact U.S. declared ISO/IEC basis. Supplied yield is unknown. Follow actual seal-removal and protective-bag instructions.

Software and support

MF Toolbox PDF options include Single Page, Multiple Pages and Add Pages. Mail uses the computer’s email application. Remote Scanner/Display Scanner Driver supports preview, crop or rotation before Scan. Historical OS examples do not promise present compatibility.

Electrical edition and setup

Actual D530 body: 15⅜ × 17⅛ × 12 inches; 27.1 lb including toner. U.S. power: 110–127 V, 50/60 Hz. Allow more than four inches for ventilation plus open-cover and tray access. D560’s greater height is not used.
