imageCLASS D570Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A supported small-office workflow handling individual Letter/A4 originals and up to 3,000 recommended monthly pages.

The main tradeoff

The glass requires manual page placement and does not capture a full Legal original; no feeder or telephone fax is provided.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can D570 scan Letter pages in color from glass and print duplex Legal monochrome documents on a supported Ethernet setup for 2,500 monthly pages?

Yes, through the supported native arrangement. Register network capture using IPv4, use the glass one page at a time and select eligible Legal output with the native duplex binding setting. Its recommended monthly maximum is 3,000.

Can it automatically feed a stack of originals for scanning?

No. The exact operating workflow uses the platen glass one original at a time; no automatic feeder route is provided.

Can its glass capture a full Legal original?

No. The glass reaches Letter/A4 dimensions. Legal is an output-paper capability, not a Legal-size original capture route.

A glass-based scanner with automatic duplex output

The Canon imageCLASS D570 is an earlier monochrome laser model for printing, copying and color scanning. It suits a supported small-office installation handling individual originals, with USB, wired networking and Wi-Fi available. Its deciding tradeoff is original intake: the documented workflow uses the glass one page at a time.

Automatic two-sided printing is a separate strength. It does not create an automatic document feeder or reverse-side capture. Someone routinely digitizing long stacks should choose a model with a verified feeder; someone scanning fragile pages or occasional forms may find the glass workflow sufficient.

Letter originals fit; Legal output is a different measurement

The actual scanner and document tables reach 8.5 by 11¾ inches, covering Letter and A4. Legal documents can be printed on supported output stock, but a full Legal original does not fit this capture area.

Place each original face down with its corner aligned at the top left, then gently close the cover. Transparent material needs the guide’s plain white backing. Let ink, glue and correction fluid dry before placement. The optical scan declaration is 600 by 600 dpi; the larger interpolated figure describes software processing.

Register native network scanning before using panel presets

Install the exact supported native drivers and MF Scan Utility. For wired or wireless LAN capture, register the machine in MF Network Scanner Selector. The actual preparation chapter requires IPv4 or USB and excludes an IPv6 native-scanning arrangement. It also limits the network scanner to ten connected computers at once.

At the panel, switch COPY/SCAN to Scan, choose Computer, select the destination and choose a preset. MF Scan Utility changes the file, color and destination settings. The default Color Scan preset creates a JPEG, while the default black-and-white preset creates a searchable PDF; those defaults are editable.

Capture additional glass pages manually and select Finish Scanning when done. Close ScanGear MF if its open window prevents starting at the panel. A Scan-to-PC shortcut can reduce repeated choices, but it does not automate placing the originals.

The actual Mac AirPrint capture route has separate conditions

The original guide also documents Mac capture through AirPrint over a shared LAN or USB. Enable Network Link Scan, put the scanner online when necessary, add the machine in Printers & Scanners, then choose Scan and Open Scanner.

Configure the capture and start it from the Mac. The guide requires an appropriate supported Mac and gives separate TLS instructions for USB use. This is a real documented route, distinct from the Windows utility registration procedure. It should not be generalized to every later operating-system version.

AirPrint output can also use a supported direct wireless connection. Available print controls and sizes depend on the application, so this review does not assign every native driver duplex setting to that mobile arrangement.

Set output size, stock and binding together

The native print dialog separates Page Size from Output Size. If they differ, the driver scales the document. Match the actual loaded stock, then select one-sided or two-sided printing and the correct binding edge. The actual paper list marks Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic duplex on eligible media.

The included normal drawer capacity is 250 sheets at 60–80 gsm, plus a one-sheet manual slot. Heavier normal stock has a lower drawer quantity. The slot is useful for an occasional different sheet, but it is not another full tray. Envelopes have their own loading limits and do not use the automatic duplex path.

Booklet layout and multiple pages on one face are driver layout choices. Their availability depends on size and medium. Quiet Mode can reduce operating sound while slowing functions; the headline speed should not be treated as guaranteed in that mode.

Use the supplied-cartridge rating and recommended range

The actual consumables page rates the supplied cartridge for 1,700 sheets and replacement Cartridge 137 for 2,400. Both declarations use ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density. The replacement figure should not be presented as the amount supplied in the box.

Canon declares up to 28 one-sided Letter ppm and separately 16 two-sided Letter ppm. Its recommended monthly range is 750–3,000 pages, distinct from the 15,000-page maximum duty. The body measures 15⅜ by 14⅝ by 12¼ inches and weighs about 25.1 lb including toner. Leave additional room for the open cover, extended paper and service access.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 28 one-sided Letter ppm and separately 16 two-sided Letter ppm. Quiet Mode slows operation. Optical scanner resolution is 600 by 600 dpi; 9,600 interpolation is not optical.

Paper handling

250 normal sheets at 60–80 gsm plus one manual feed sheet. Heavier normal stock has a lower drawer limit. Letter, Legal and A4 are eligible native automatic-duplex sizes; envelopes are separate and not duplex stock.

Scanning arrangement

Glass-only original handling through Letter/A4, one page at a time. Duplex Scan is explicitly No in the exact support table. Legal output does not extend the original glass to Legal.

Computer and mobile connections

USB, 10/100 Ethernet, infrastructure Wi-Fi and Direct Connection are documented. Native computer scanning uses USB or registered IPv4 LAN. AirPrint Mac LAN/USB capture is separately documented.

Supplies and declared yields

Supplied cartridge is rated 1,700 sheets; replacement Canon Cartridge 137 2,400. Actual basis is ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density. The replacement rating is not the supplied yield.

Software and support

Print, copy and color capture are the documented functions; no ADF or fax arrangement is assigned. AirPrint printing and Mac capture have actual separate settings. Recommended monthly volume is 750–3,000; 15,000 maximum duty is different.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact operating body is 15⅜ by 14⅝ by 12¼ inches and approximately 25.1 lb including toner. U.S. power is 110–127 V, 50/60 Hz. Leave space for the glass cover, extended paper and maintenance.
