Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can LBP226dw print PIN-held duplex Letter monochrome jobs over supported native Ethernet with 350 included Letter sheets?
Yes. The native driver combines eligible Letter automatic duplex and secured-job release on the five-line LCD. Standard sources total 350 Letter sheets at 20 lb Bond, and 3,000 monthly pages falls in the recommended range.
Explore this need in the finder →Does it include 900 Letter sheets as standard?
No. Standard supply is 350; 900 requires the optional 550-sheet AH1 cassette.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it scan or copy a document?
No. This exact model is a print-only monochrome laser printer.

The Canon imageCLASS LBP226dw, U.S. item 3516C005, is an earlier monochrome print-only laser model. It suits a supported office that needs automatic two-sided output, a useful standard paper supply and native PIN-held collection, with scanning handled elsewhere.
The five-line black-and-white LCD is a significant model distinction. Shared touch-panel instructions describe other members of the family. The absence of a scanner, copier and telephone fax also remains unchanged by mobile application branding or USB memory printing.
PostScript is positively supported for this model
The actual printer-functions chapter explicitly includes LBP226dw in its Adobe PostScript 3 scope, alongside UFR II and PCL. This differs from LBP227dw, which the same chapter excludes from PostScript. Similar names therefore should not be treated as interchangeable software configurations.
USB device, Gigabit Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi are documented native connections. Install the exact supported driver, select it from the application’s print dialog, open Properties or Preferences and set the job before submission. Controls vary with the driver and computer system.
The USB host port serves supported memory files, rather than replacing the USB device connection used by a computer. Memory-media printing and I-Fax reception are output sources, not evidence of an original scanner or telephone fax.
Release a secured job on the five-line LCD
Select Secured Print as the native driver’s Output Method and send the document. It waits in printer memory. At the machine, select Secure Print, choose the intended document and enter the matching PIN to release it.
The shared instructions for selecting multiple checkboxes and Start apply to the touch-panel models. Follow the LCD prompts for this one. Department ID management is also distinct from the PIN attached to a particular print job.
Held documents occupy memory, and uncollected data disappears after the configured deletion period. The guide warns that excessive retained data can interfere with ordinary printing. Collect jobs promptly and choose the retention setting deliberately; the function is temporary output storage.
350 included Letter sheets, with a separate expansion
The standard configuration combines a 250-sheet cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose tray, totaling 350 Letter sheets at 20 lb Bond. The 900-sheet maximum requires an optional 550-sheet AH1 cassette. An optional unit added later must also be registered in the driver’s Device Settings.
The actual paper table marks Letter, Legal and A4 for native automatic duplex on eligible media. Supported size alone is insufficient: label, envelope and heavier-stock categories have different feed and duplex rules.
Keep the cassette inserted even while using the multipurpose tray. The operating instructions say the machine stops with an error without it. Extend the tray support for larger paper, load the print face up and align the guides without pinching or leaving them loose.
Envelopes and Apple printing need their own settings
Envelopes use the multipurpose tray, not the cassette. Close the flaps, flatten trapped air and curls, align the stack and follow the short-edge-first, non-glued-face-up orientation. The guide excludes printing on the reverse side of an envelope.
AirPrint is separately documented through the same LAN, direct wireless access or a supported USB-connected Mac. Enable the required IPP setting and use a compatible application. Its available sizes and controls vary by application, so native PIN submission and precise native duplex-size evidence are not assigned to every Apple print dialog.
Mopria and Canon PRINT Business are also listed. These mobile options should be checked against the actual device and application, while native printing remains the documented arrangement for the fuller driver controls described above.
The supplied cartridge is smaller than the replacement rating
The actual consumables chapter gives LBP226dw a supplied cartridge yield of 1,500 sheets. Other models in the family receive 3,100. Replacement 057 is rated for 3,100 and 057 H for 10,000 under ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density. A replacement listing should not be read as the in-box quantity.
Canon declares up to 40 one-sided Letter ppm and separately 32 Legal ppm, with a recommended range of 750–4,000 pages monthly. The actual closed body is 15¾ by 14¾ by 9⅞ inches. Its 19.4 lb main-unit weight excludes toner, so a loaded carrying weight remains unestablished here. Leave extra room for extended trays, open covers and servicing.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Up to 40 one-sided Letter ppm and separately 32 Legal ppm. The actual guide describes continuous repetition of one plain-Letter page and potential condition-adjustment pauses. Maximum duty is unestablished.
Paper handling
Standard 350 Letter sheets at 20 lb Bond: 250 cassette plus 100 multipurpose. Optional 550-sheet AH1 raises maximum to 900 and is excluded. Eligible native automatic duplex includes Letter/Legal/A4; envelope/label routing differs.
Scanning arrangement
Exact scope is monochrome print only. No original scanner, copier, telephone fax, flatbed or feeder is supplied. USB host memory printing and I-Fax receiving do not add those functions.
Computer and mobile connections
USB device, Gigabit Ethernet, infrastructure Wi-Fi and direct wireless output are documented. One USB host port serves supported memory files. Standard native languages include UFR II, PCL5/PCL6 and Adobe PostScript 3.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact LBP226dw supplied toner is rated 1,500 sheets; replacement 057 is 3,100 and 057 H 10,000 under ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density. Another family member’s 3,100 included cartridge is not borrowed.
Software and support
The exact model has a five-line LCD, distinct from other models’ touch panels. Native Secure Print uses a job PIN and configured retention period. Recommended 750–4,000 monthly pages is the declared working range.
Electrical edition and setup
Actual guide body is 15¾ by 14¾ by 9⅞ inches. The 19.4 lb main-unit figure excludes toner, so loaded weight remains unknown. U.S. 120–127 V, 60 Hz is documented; allow additional tray and service clearance.
