A useful fit for

An established supported computer queue needing wired monochrome Legal duplex.

The main tradeoff

No scanner or built-in wireless route; native driver and physical paper-size settings require attention.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can LBP6300dn print monochrome Legal sheets automatically on both sides through its native Ethernet queue?

Yes. The exact CAPT guide lists Legal automatic duplex on eligible 60–120 gsm stock. Set the rear lever for Letter/Legal, close the output-selection cover and choose two-sided output in the driver.

Can it scan a paper original to that computer?

No. This exact LBP model is print-only, without a glass or feeder.

Does the included configuration hold 800 input sheets?

No. Included input is 300 sheets. The additional 500-sheet PF-44 source is optional.

A wired monochrome queue with genuine duplex support

The Canon imageCLASS LBP6300dn is an earlier print-only monochrome laser with USB, Fast Ethernet and automatic two-sided output. It suits an established computer-printing arrangement that can use its exact native software and does not need original capture at the printer.

Its useful distinction is a documented Legal duplex path rather than merely the ability to load a long sheet. The corresponding tradeoff is installation discipline: the driver, paper registration and physical duplex lever must agree. A network connector by itself does not make this a generic driverless office printer.

Use the exact CAPT connection arrangement

The actual manual identifies Canon Advanced Printing Technology software. For the documented Windows network arrangement, it specifies a Standard TCP/IP Port using RAW on port 9100 and explicitly excludes LPR. A familiar port choice from another printer is therefore not an interchangeable installation recipe.

For USB, follow the powered-off cable sequence and the driver’s installation instructions. The printer uses bi-directional communication, and Canon does not guarantee operation through the unidirectional print servers, hubs or switching equipment discussed in the guide.

A wired installation uses the appropriate Ethernet cable and link indicators. The manual distinguishes the link and 100-megabit indicators from an error indication, which is useful when separating a physical connection problem from a queue or application problem. Historical software examples do not establish current operating-system support.

Register the cassette size rather than assuming detection

The cassette cannot automatically detect the loaded size. Use the Printer Status Window and its Options, Device Settings and Cassette Settings controls to register the actual paper. The guide restricts when that registration can be performed, so make the change while the printer is in the appropriate idle state.

In the application choose the printer and open Properties. Page Size describes the source document; Output Size can scale it to a different physical sheet. Then choose the source and type that correspond to what is actually loaded.

For eligible heavy paper from a cassette, the actual procedure requires selecting that cassette explicitly. Auto selects the multipurpose path instead. A correct weight setting and a correct source selection are both part of that routine.

Duplex depends on media and a rear lever

Automatic two-sided printing accepts Letter, Legal and A4 using the stated plain or heavy-paper range through 120 gsm. That range is narrower than the maximum weight that can enter the multipurpose source for one-sided work.

Open the duplex cover and set the blue size lever. Pull it toward the operator for A4, or push it into the printer for Letter and Legal. Close the output-selection cover before using automatic duplex and select the required Print Style on the driver’s Finishing sheet.

Do not take a sheet while it is partly emerging and being drawn back for its reverse side. Manual reverse-side printing is a different documented operation, using a flattened previously printed sheet one at a time in the multipurpose tray. It is not evidence of automatic duplex on unsupported stock.

Count the base input and replacement supplies separately

The included cassette and multipurpose tray provide approximately 250 and fifty sheets respectively at the stated 80 gsm basis. A five-hundred-sheet PF-44 source is optional. The general base total is not a verified quantity for every exact paper size or specialty medium.

The actual consumables chapter rates Cartridge 119 at 2,100 pages and Cartridge 119 II at 6,400 under ISO/IEC 19752 using Letter and default density. This Letter basis is retained rather than replaced with the A4 condition found in other Canon manuals. The supplied cartridge’s yield is not established here.

Check the historical role and physical fit

Canon rates continuous plain Letter output at thirty pages per minute and warns that media settings and job conditions can reduce it. No duplex speed or recommended monthly workload is inferred from that figure.

The exact U.S. listing gives a body of 15.8 by 14.9 by 10.3 inches and 26.1 pounds with the standard cartridge. Provide the documented U.S. power supply and additional opening and ventilation space. This remains a useful reference for a compatible existing installation; a new workflow needing scanning, wireless or mobile-specific controls calls for separately documented hardware.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

30 pages per minute on continuous plain Letter stock at 60–90 gsm. Size, type, orientation and copy quantity can reduce speed. No A4 conversion or duplex rate is inferred. Recommended monthly volume is unknown.

Paper handling

Included generic input: 250 + 50 sheets at 80 gsm; optional PF-44 500 excluded. Letter/Legal/A4 duplex accepts plain 60–90 gsm or heavy 91–120 gsm stock. Close the output cover and set the rear lever. Manual reverse-face output is separate.

Computer and mobile connections

USB and 10/100 Ethernet CAPT output are documented. Ethernet uses RAW port 9100; LPR is unsupported. No Wi-Fi or mobile protocol is established. Print-only hardware has no original capture.

Supplies and declared yields

Replacement 119: 2,100 pages; 119 II: 6,400 under ISO/IEC 19752 using Letter and default density. Supplied yield is unknown. Printer Status Window supplies replacement warnings.

Software and support

Use the exact CAPT queue. The cassette cannot detect size automatically: register it while idle through Printer Status Window, Options, Device Settings and Cassette Settings. Different application/output sizes can trigger scaling.

Electrical edition and setup

U.S. body: 15.8 × 14.9 × 10.3 inches; 26.1 lb with cartridge. The manual separately lists 24.3 lb without toner and 1.8 lb for standard toner. U.S. power: 120–127 V, 60 Hz. Allow ventilation and opening access.
