A useful fit for

Supported native USB or prepared Ethernet Letter printing with automatic duplex.

The main tradeoff

Regional specifications differ. Exact U.S. duplex media restrictions, mains rating and present driver compatibility require separate verification.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can LBP6650dn handle monochrome Letter output with automatic duplex on a supported Ethernet computer?

Yes. The U.S. original specifies Letter duplex output, and Canon’s exact IPv4 procedure prepares the wired connection. Install the supported native driver and align the queue port with the printer address.

Can the same machine scan originals to that computer?

No. LBP6650dn is print-only. A paper cassette or output-duplex unit is not an original scanner.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the documented wired plan establish built-in Wi-Fi printing?

No. Actual setup shows USB and 10/100 Ethernet. No internal Wi-Fi route is established for this exact U.S. configuration.

A U.S. print-only configuration with a regional distinction

The Canon imageCLASS LBP6650dn is a monochrome laser printer for a supported native computer queue. The original U.S. specification document identifies item 3549B015AA. That identity matters because the preserved German product list describes a different regional item, 3549B007, with different speed and language wording.

The U.S. document rates Letter printing at thirty-five pages per minute and separately lists sixteen Letter images per minute for duplex output. The earlier thirty-three-page headline from the German list is not converted into a Letter speed here.

Prepare the actual Ethernet address and queue together

The exact setup guide documents USB and Fast Ethernet. During native driver installation, follow the prompt for turning the printer on. For a wired network queue, configure the printer address before treating an installed driver icon as a finished connection.

Canon’s model-specific IPv4 article uses the control-panel hierarchy Settings, Interface Menu, Network Menu, TCP/IP Settings and IP V.4 Setting. Choose an automatic method or enter the address, subnet mask and gateway manually, then restart the printer or perform the prescribed reset to apply the change.

If its address changes after the driver was installed, update the driver’s port too. For DHCP, Canon recommends an arrangement that keeps the address stable or uses the appropriate dynamic DNS configuration. Otherwise a printer can remain physically connected while the computer continues sending to an old address.

Automatic duplex has a confirmed Letter basis

The original U.S. brochure positively documents automatic duplex and gives a Letter duplex throughput. Letter, Legal and A4 are listed output sizes, but a general media list does not establish that every listed size or material can use the duplex path.

The exact U.S. operating paper table was not recovered in this reading. The verified plan therefore carries Letter duplex rather than borrowing another model’s Legal, heavy-stock or envelope duplex rules. This is a practical boundary when assessing a retained printer for a particular form or media job.

Count the included trays and memory correctly

Standard input combines a 250-sheet cassette with a fifty-sheet multipurpose tray, under the original seventeen-pound paper basis. The optional PF-44 adds five hundred sheets; it is additional hardware, not an included second cassette. The generic capacity is not assigned as a verified stack quantity for every supported paper size.

The U.S. document lists UFR II, PCL 5e/6 and PS Level 3 emulation. The German source instead describes optional PostScript, which is another reason to verify the actual regional configuration. A generic replacement driver name does not establish every language or finishing feature.

The original standard memory total is 128 MB, with sixty-four fixed and sixty-four in the expansion slot. A larger expansion replaces the slotted memory rather than simply adding its full label to the existing total. This detail matters when checking an advertised upgrade in an earlier unit.

Supplies, workload and physical limits need their own basis

The U.S. replacement supplies are Cartridge 119 and high-capacity 119 II, listed at approximately 2,100 and 6,400 pages under the document’s ISO/IEC wording. The exact standard and paper-size conditions are not stated there. European 719 cartridge identification and a guessed included-cartridge yield are not substituted.

The fifty-thousand-page monthly duty figure is a maximum, not an established recommended workload. The brochure gives a 15.8 by 14.9 by 10.6-inch body and 27.4 pounds with the cartridge, distinguishing that installed weight from the lighter empty figure. Verify the actual mains label because an exact electrical rating was not established from these read sources.

Historical software support is not a current compatibility promise

Canon’s U.S. Mac OS X Lion advisory explicitly names LBP6650dn and explains a driver incompatibility requiring corrected software and a rebuilt print queue. It remains useful evidence that an old driver and a new queue can interact badly, but its historical versions are not a present-day installation recommendation.

Choose this configuration only after confirming the exact driver and intended job on the target computer. Scanning, copying, faxing, built-in wireless, native PIN release and mobile protocol support are not created by its network port or duplex mechanism.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact U.S. original: 35 Letter print pages per minute and 16 Letter duplex images per minute, separately stated. German 3549B007 speed is not converted to Letter. A 50,000-page maximum duty is not a recommended monthly range.

Paper handling

Exact U.S. 3549B015AA brochure: 250 + 50 standard sheets at 17 lb Bond; optional 500-sheet cassette excluded. No exact-size input quantity is assigned. Letter duplex is confirmed; Legal/A4 duplex remains unassigned without the exact U.S. operating table.

Computer and mobile connections

Actual U.S. quick setup confirms USB and 10/100 Ethernet, with an indexed exact-maker IPv4 procedure. No internal Wi-Fi, AirPrint, Mopria or PIN-release workflow is inferred.

Supplies and declared yields

U.S. replacement 119: approximately 2,100 pages; 119 II: 6,400 under the brochure’s ISO/IEC wording. Exact standard and size are not stated there. European Cartridge 719 is not substituted. Supplied yield is unknown.

Software and support

The historical Mac 10.7 advisory names this exact model and requires a corrected driver and rebuilt queue. It does not promise present OS support. U.S. PostScript emulation is separate from the optional European feature.

Electrical edition and setup

U.S. brochure body: 15.8 × 14.9 × 10.6 inches; 27.4 lb with Cartridge 119, versus 25.6 lb without. Exact mains rating remains unknown; verify the unit label and applicable safety material.
