Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can MF262dw II capture a color Letter original from its glass and print duplex Letter monochrome jobs over supported native Wi-Fi?
Yes. Supported native drivers and MF Scan Utility provide color flatbed capture, while eligible Letter output can print automatically on both sides. The included cassette holds 250 Letter sheets at 20 lb Bond.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it feed and scan a Legal original automatically?
No. This exact model has no document feeder, and its glass reaches Letter/A4 rather than Legal.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its three-function specification include telephone fax?
No. MF262dw II prints, copies and scans. Telephone fax belongs to specified other models in the shared guide.
Explore this need in the finder →A glass-only model for occasional original capture
The Canon imageCLASS MF262dw II, item 5938C022, combines monochrome laser printing, copying and color scanning. Its defining choice is the absence of an automatic document feeder. It is suited to a supported workflow that mainly prints documents and occasionally captures a book page, receipt or individual signed sheet on the glass.
The exact function matrix confirms automatic two-sided printing, USB, wired LAN and wireless LAN. It excludes telephone fax and direct sending to e-mail or an SMB folder. Network connectivity alone does not add those sender functions.
Letter and A4 capture, with each original placed by hand
The glass accepts originals through 8.5 by 11¾ inches, covering Letter and A4. Place the side to be captured face down, align its corner at the top left, and close the cover gently. Books and originals unsuitable for a feeder are appropriate reasons to choose this fixed-position route.
A multi-page document requires attention to each page. There is no feeder stack capacity or automatic two-sided original routine to select. ID-card or passport copy functions arrange images on output paper; they do not make the hardware turn an original over.
The exact support page contains a generic Legal ADF size line despite explicitly saying that no document feeder is present. The brochure’s model column and actual operating matrix resolve that contradiction: Legal output paper is supported, but a full Legal original cannot be captured on this glass.
Native computer scanning needs its scanner software
The documented native connections are USB, 10/100 Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi. Install the supported printer driver, ScanGear MF and MF Scan Utility for the actual computer system. Windows network registration uses Canon MF Network Scanner Selector where required; Mac network registration uses MF Scan Utility’s Network Scanner Settings with the appropriate Bonjour or IP entry.
In MF Scan Utility, select this machine and the button matching the original and purpose. ScanGear MF exposes more detailed settings; suitable TWAIN or WIA applications can import the image with the installed scanner driver. If capture will not start, put the five-line LCD model online through Scan and Remote Scanner.
The scanner captures color even though the laser engine prints monochrome pages. A saved color image can preserve highlighting or colored marks, while a copy printed by this device remains black and white.
Mac AirPrint capture is separately documented
The actual guide also provides a Mac capture procedure through the same LAN or USB. Its stated scanning minimum is OS X 10.9, or 10.11 for encrypted TLS capture. Enable AirPrint, register the machine, then select it in Printers & Scanners, choose Scan and Open Scanner, configure the settings and start the scan.
The same hardware limits still apply: this is Letter/A4 glass capture. The family’s nearby AirPrint fax instructions do not apply to a model without telephone fax. Mobile AirPrint and Mopria printing are available separately, with application-dependent controls and paper sizes.
Output duplex does not require a feeder
The actual paper table marks Letter, Legal and A4 for native automatic two-sided printing. Eligible thin, plain, recycled and other specified media have their own weight and size conditions. Heavy categories, envelopes and labels do not receive that automatic duplex approval.
Use the native driver’s page size, output size and two-sided settings deliberately. A Legal document created on the computer can therefore print on both sides of Legal sheets, even though a physical Legal original cannot fit the scanner glass.
The standard cassette holds 250 Letter sheets at 20 lb Bond, with a separate one-sheet bypass for occasional stock. The brochure lists no optional cassette. The actual print-language chapter also excludes MF262dw II from the family’s PCL-equipped models, so its UFR II-LT identity should guide software planning.
Track the toner and separate drum
The box includes Cartridge 051, rated for 1,700 pages, and Drum 051. Replacement 051 H is rated for 4,100 pages under ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default print density. The drum’s 23,000-sheet rating uses a different, two-sheet intermittent plain-A4 evaluation.
Canon recommends 250–2,500 monthly pages. The separately stated 30,000 maximum duty figure is not a routine volume target. The output rating is up to 30 one-sided Letter ppm; it is not a promise about manually placing and saving a stack of originals.
The actual closed body measures 15⅜ by 16 by 12⅞ inches. Leave room for the cover, paper and ventilation. Conflicting loaded and unloaded weight declarations remain unresolved, so this review does not give a reliable carrying weight.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Up to 30 one-sided Letter ppm; Legal is separately declared up to 24 ppm on the exact support page. Shared feeder ipm does not apply to this flatbed-only model.
Paper handling
250-sheet Letter cassette at 20 lb Bond, with a separate single-sheet bypass and no optional cassette. Native automatic Letter/Legal/A4 output duplex requires eligible medium; envelope, label and heavy categories are excluded.
Scanning arrangement
Color flatbed capture reaches 8.5 by 11¾ inches, covering Letter/A4. No ADF, automatic original duplex, telephone fax or direct device email/SMB sender is supported by its exact model column.
Computer and mobile connections
USB, Fast Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi support the native computer plan; Wi-Fi Direct supports documented mobile connection. Exact UFR II-LT identity does not gain PCL from the shared brochure; actual guide excludes MF262dw II from PCL scope.
Supplies and declared yields
Supplied Cartridge 051 is rated 1,700 pages and replacement 051 H 4,100 under ISO/IEC 19752, A4/default density. Drum 051 is separately supplied and replaced; its 23,000-sheet rating uses Canon two-sheet intermittent plain A4 testing.
Software and support
Use the five-line LCD model’s controls. Recommended 250–2,500 monthly pages is distinct from the 30,000 maximum duty figure. Generic Legal ADF, direct USB and sender statements do not override exact hardware/function exclusions.
Electrical edition and setup
Actual body is 15⅜ by 16 by 12⅞ inches, with additional cover/paper/ventilation space needed. Brochure 23.8 lb includes consumables but guide 25.1 lb excludes toner/drum, an unresolved contradiction; loaded weight remains unknown. U.S. 110–127 V, 60 Hz is documented.
