Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can MF269dw II scan both sides of Legal originals in color to a prepared Ethernet folder and automatically duplex Legal monochrome pages?
Yes. The exact model has a double-pass duplex feeder and a File capture procedure with Book/Calendar settings. Configure folder access from a computer first. The route is reversing double-pass, so it does not satisfy single-pass capture.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it meet a single-pass duplex scanning requirement?
No. The guide explicitly identifies a two-sided double-pass feeder. Automatic capture of both faces does not mean single-pass.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a complete Legal original be scanned on its glass?
No. The glass maximum is 216 × 297 mm, covering Letter/A4. Use the feeder for a suitable Legal original.

The Canon imageCLASS MF269dw II combines monochrome printing and copying with color scanning and faxing. The exact operating guide calls its standard original feeder a Two-Sided Double Pass Feeder. It automatically captures both faces, but it is not a single-pass scanner.
That distinction is central to its fit. An office handling double-sided forms gains an unattended reverse-face routine, while a workflow specifically requiring single-pass capture needs a different established mechanism. The smaller MF264dw II and MF267dw II feeder descriptions do not apply to this exact model.
Use a prepared shared folder for the verified duplex route
Create the destination share and register its access information from a computer through Send Function Setting Tool or Remote UI. Each folder needs its own registration. The machine’s panel cannot enter that folder-access information as a substitute for the documented preparation.
Supply the actual computer name or address, folder path and required credentials, then restart the machine to apply the configuration. A missing parent folder or insufficient write permission can prevent saving even when the printer itself is reachable.
At the touchscreen choose Scan, File and the registered destination. Configure the original size, color, file format and Two-Sided Original with Book Type or Calendar Type, then start. The actual double-pass hardware and this file-destination procedure establish a complete duplex capture workflow over the prepared LAN.
For a multipage glass PDF or TIFF, place successive originals and finish with Start TX. Check the saved file or status log rather than treating the first scanned sheet as proof that the whole job reached its destination.
Legal feeder intake does not enlarge the glass
The feeder accepts suitable originals through Legal size and holds fifty Letter sheets at Canon’s eighty-gram paper basis. The glass reaches 216 by 297 millimeters, covering Letter and A4. A complete Legal original therefore uses the feeder rather than lying fully on the glass.
Load suitable same-size originals face up, fan and align the stack, secure the guides and remain below the limit. Keep stapled, curled, coated or otherwise unsuitable pages out of that path. A glass original remains stationary and is the appropriate route for suitable books and fragile material.
Computer utility capture has its own preparation
Install ScanGear MF and MF Scan Utility on the receiving computer. Windows network destination registration uses MF Network Scanner Selector. On macOS, add the machine in MF Scan Utility’s Network Scanner Settings through Bonjour or IP, then restart the utility.
Panel-to-computer capture chooses Computer and the desired preset; the preset’s file and destination settings reside in MF Scan Utility. Close an open ScanGear window before starting. Computer-initiated capture selects the exact Product Name and the button matching the original and purpose.
Compatible TWAIN or WIA applications provide another documented import route. The read application chapter does not expose every duplex setting, so those unseen controls are not invented. The explicit LAN File routine carries the verified automatic reverse-face requirement.
Output duplex and starter supplies are separate decisions
Letter, Legal and A4 are marked for automatic print duplex in the operating paper table. Set page size, output size and two-sided options deliberately in the supported native driver. Labels, envelopes and excluded heavy categories do not acquire duplex eligibility from the general media list.
The drawer has a generic 250-sheet rating with a separate one-sheet multipurpose feed. That quantity is not assigned to every exact-size load. The model’s recommended monthly range is 250–2,500 pages; its thirty-page Letter output rating describes a different performance measure.
The normal MF269dw II includes toner rated for 1,700 pages, unlike the VP II package. Replacement 051 and 051 H are rated for 1,700 and 4,100 pages under ISO/IEC 19752 on A4 at default density. The separate 051 drum has a twenty-three-thousand-page two-sheet intermittent A4 basis.
Check the full installed arrangement
The actual body measures 15⅜ by sixteen by 14¾ inches. The operating weight excludes toner and drum, so installed weight remains unknown here. Allow additional opening space and the prescribed surrounding clearance.
AirPrint and Mopria are documented, with separate Apple LAN, direct and Mac USB procedures. Their application-dependent settings do not automatically inherit the native driver’s exact duplex media or the File workflow’s original controls. Assess the intended route as a complete arrangement before assigning recurring document work.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
30 one-sided Letter pages per minute under the manual’s continuous same-page plain-paper conditions. Recommended volume is 250–2,500 monthly pages, separate from maximum hardware duty or supply yield.
Paper handling
Included input: 250 drawer sheets at 64/80 gsm plus one-sheet bypass. No optional tray or exact-size quantity is assigned. Visually confirmed paper symbols establish Letter/Legal/A4 print duplex; labels, envelopes and heavy stock are excluded.
Scanning arrangement
The exact model has a two-sided double-pass feeder: 50 Letter originals at 80 gsm, with Legal supported. Glass is Letter/A4. Color duplex capture is separately rated at 5 pages per minute versus 15 simplex at 300 dpi; this is not single-pass hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
USB, Fast Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi are documented, with separate mobile LAN/direct Apple procedures. Exact UFR II LT and PCL 5e/6 are supported. Folder/email sending belongs to MF269dw II and is not borrowed from the simplex MF264.
Supplies and declared yields
The normal non-VP package supplies 051 toner rated at 1,700 pages. Replacement 051: 1,700; 051 H: 4,100 under ISO/IEC 19752 using A4 and default density. Separate 051 drum: 23,000 under two-sheet intermittent plain-A4 conditions. The VP extra cartridge is excluded.
Software and support
Native utility capture, LAN File duplex delivery and Mac Apple capture are separately documented. System Manager PIN and network authentication are not evidence of PIN-held print release.
Electrical edition and setup
Base body: 15⅜ × 16 × 14¾ inches. Manual 28.3 lb excludes toner and drum; web 29.3 lb lacks a qualified basis, so loaded weight remains unknown. U.S. power: 110–127 V, 60 Hz. Allow 100 mm clearance. Six-line monochrome touch panel.
