imageCLASS MF419dwIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A supported wired or wireless office capturing Legal originals on the glass and through a feeder.

The main tradeoff

Its larger body needs space, optional input is extra and the documented automatic feeder mechanism is not established as single-pass.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can MF419dw combine Legal glass color capture with native Legal duplex and PIN-held collection over Ethernet?

Yes. Its exact model column has Legal glass, and the native output route supports Legal duplex and Secure Print. Use the registered IPv4 computer scanner and supported driver; close the remote-scanner screen before releasing held output.

Is that automatic two-sided feeder proven to be single-pass?

No single-pass mechanism is established by the actual sections read. The documented Book Type and Calendar Type folder-send operation supports ordinary automatic duplex, but does not prove simultaneous both-face capture.

Does the base MF419dw include 1,050 input sheets?

No. Included input is 550 sheets. The additional 500-sheet U1 module is optional.

A larger glass and drawer are the useful distinctions

The Canon imageCLASS MF419dw is an earlier monochrome laser multifunction printer whose practical advantage over the smaller models in its manual is physical document handling. Its glass accepts Legal originals, and its main drawer holds five hundred sheets under the documented paper conditions.

That combination suits an established office with long contracts, bound material and a shared native printer queue. The tradeoff is a larger body and an installation that still needs exact software planning. Its automatic two-sided feeder is documented, but a single-pass mechanism is not established by the operating sections read.

Install printing and computer capture as separate functions

The exact U.S. specification lists UFR II, PCL and Adobe PostScript capability for MF419dw. Install the supported driver, select the printer in the application and check Page Size, Output Size, source and paper type before sending the job. A differing output size can scale the document automatically.

Computer capture requires the scanner software as well. For a wired or wireless LAN, register the machine in MF Network Scanner Selector and use IPv4. The actual guide excludes an IPv6-only computer-scanning environment; USB does not need that network registration step.

At the panel choose Scan, Computer, the destination computer and the desired preset, then start capture. Up to ten network computers can be displayed. Close the ScanGear window before initiating that panel operation. For a multipage glass job, place each next original and finish the sequence explicitly.

Folder sending provides a documented duplex-original route

A shared-folder or FTP destination needs advance configuration and registration in the Address Book. Choose Scan and File, select the destination and set the scan size, color mode and file options. If authentication appears, supply the destination credentials.

The Two-Sided Original control offers Book Type and Calendar Type for the different front/back orientations. This is positive automatic both-face capture from the feeder. It remains separate from the ordinary computer-preset procedure, and it is not described here as single-pass.

The exact MF419 glass accepts Legal, while the smaller shared-guide models have Letter/A4 glass. The feeder also accepts Legal. Its ordinary and two-sided originals have different weight limits, so a sheet acceptable for one-sided feeding is not automatically suitable for the duplex routine.

Automatic print duplex has a mechanical setup condition

The native driver selects one-sided or two-sided output and the binding position. Letter, Legal and A4 use the documented duplex path, but the rear paper-size lever must match the chosen size. A4 uses a different lever position from Letter and Legal.

Close the sub-output tray before two-sided printing. An open rear output path prevents that operation even if the driver selection is correct. Media type also matters: the paper table limits duplex to the eligible categories rather than every medium that can enter a tray.

The base five-hundred-sheet drawer and fifty-sheet multipurpose source total 550 sheets under the stated conditions. The U1 expansion is optional. Its five hundred sheets are not counted as included, and a general capacity headline is not assigned to every exact paper size.

PIN collection belongs to the native output arrangement

Enable Allow Use of Secured Print in the driver and choose Secured Print as the Output Method. Send the job with the required user identification and PIN. At the panel choose Secure Print, select the user or document and enter the PIN to release it.

The default retention interval is thirty minutes and can be changed administratively. Held work occupies memory, so collect it promptly. If the Remote Scanner screen blocks collection, close that screen and return to Secure Print.

AirPrint has its own same-LAN, direct or supported Mac USB arrangement, with settings supplied by the application. It does not automatically inherit native PIN controls. The historical cloud-print chapter is not a promise that a retired service still operates.

Plan supplies, speed and space on the stated basis

The supplied Cartridge 119 is rated for 2,100 pages; replacements are rated for 2,100 or 6,400 pages in the 119 II version under ISO/IEC 19752 using A4 and default density. Actual content and conditions change consumption.

Canon separates thirty-five one-sided plain Letter pages per minute from seventeen duplex pages per minute, or 8.5 physical sheets. The maximum monthly duty does not establish a recommended volume. The actual loaded body is 47.2 pounds and 17¾ by 18⅝ by 18⅜ inches, before operating clearance or optional expansion.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

35 one-sided plain Letter pages per minute. Duplex output: 17 pages, or 8.5 physical sheets, per minute. A 50,000-page maximum duty is not a recommended monthly volume.

Paper handling

Included generic input: 500 + 50 sheets; optional U1 500 excluded. Smaller MF416/MF414 drawer and PF-44 are not substituted. Native Letter/Legal/A4 duplex requires the correct rear lever and closed sub-output tray.

Scanning arrangement

Exact MF419 has Legal glass and a Legal-capable 50-sheet feeder. Duplex originals require 64–105 gsm. Glass optical resolution is 600 × 600 dpi, versus feeder 300 × 300. Automatic folder-delivery duplex mechanism is unknown; single-pass is unestablished.

Computer and mobile connections

Native USB, Gigabit Ethernet and infrastructure Wi-Fi are documented. Direct mode and AirPrint are separate. Network computer capture requires IPv4 registration. MF416-only NFC is not inherited.

Supplies and declared yields

Supplied 119: 2,100 pages. Replacement 119: 2,100; 119 II: 6,400 under ISO/IEC 19752 using A4 and default density. Content and conditions affect actual yield.

Software and support

Native Secure Print uses Output Method, a PIN up to seven digits and panel release. Default retention is 30 minutes and can be changed. Jobs occupy memory; close Remote Scanner before collection. No mobile PIN inheritance or current Google Cloud Print claim.

Electrical edition and setup

Actual body: 17¾ × 18⅝ × 18⅜ inches; 47.2 lb including toner. U.S. power: 120–127 V, 60 Hz. The optional paper feeder increases height to 23¾ inches. Allow opening and service access.
