A useful fit for

An existing supported legacy USB workflow needing monochrome output, individual or feeder capture and telephone fax.

The main tradeoff

Built-in networking is explicitly absent; modern OS support and automatic duplex remain unestablished, and 50-sheet ADF capacity is conditional.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a supported legacy Windows USB workflow scan a Legal original through the feeder and print Legal monochrome documents?

Yes. The actual Basic Guide documents feeder scanning to MF Toolbox or supported Windows software and native computer printing; the exact setup confirms USB. Legal originals use the feeder rather than the glass.

Does MF5750 support this same computer workflow through built-in Ethernet?

No. Its exact setup explicitly says network connection is unavailable. The shared MF5770 network instructions describe another model.

Can its glass capture an entire Legal original?

No. The actual glass maximum is 8.5 by 11¾ inches; a Legal original needs the feeder.

An earlier USB model with a documented computer workflow

The Canon imageCLASS MF5750, identified as F146502 in its Basic Guide, is an earlier monochrome laser machine for printing, copying, scanning and telephone fax. Its original operating arrangement is a USB-connected Windows computer with Canon’s MF software. That dated environment is central to its fit; the instructions do not establish compatibility with a current operating system.

The shared series guide also covers MF5730 and MF5770. The MF5750 setup makes the connection boundary explicit: network connection is unavailable. MF5770 networking and Remote UI instructions do not give this model an Ethernet workflow.

Install the software before attaching USB

The exact setup directs the user to install MF Drivers and MF Toolbox before connecting the USB cable. Its illustrated sequence is for Windows XP or Server 2003, with Windows 98, Me and 2000 users directed to the Software Guide. Administrator access is specified for the relevant systems.

For printing, open the document in its application, select this printer, open Preferences or Properties, choose the required settings and submit the job. The Basic Guide describes checking the default printer and cancelling jobs from the Windows printer queue or the machine’s Status Monitor.

For capture, check that the scanner driver appears in the documented Scanners and Cameras controls. Place the original, then press Scan and Start. If prompted for the application, select MF Toolbox 4.7. The image is handled according to its settings, with the first-use default described as a dated folder under My Pictures.

Suitable TWAIN or WIA Windows applications provide another documented route. The original guide recommends the glass for better capture quality and warns that feeder images may be less clear. No personal image-quality test is implied here.

Understand the two different feeder quantities

The original requirements distinguish a guaranteed limit of 30 sheets, or an 8 mm stack including curl, from a reference quantity of 50 sheets at 80 gsm. That larger figure also specifies 15–27°C and 20–80% relative humidity. It should not replace the guarantee in a routine capacity claim.

Fan and align originals, adjust the guides and load the stack face up. The first page feeds from the top. Wait for every page to finish before starting another batch. The feeder accepts originals through 8.5 by 14 inches; its original-weight range is 64–105 gsm.

The glass reaches 8.5 by 11¾ inches, covering Letter and A4 rather than Legal. It also accommodates suitable books or three-dimensional originals within the stated 2 kg limit. Keep transparent originals backed by plain white paper as directed. Automatic two-sided original capture is not established by these chapters.

Extend the cassette deliberately for Legal stock

The cassette is rated for 250 sheets at 64 gsm, with a separate single-sheet multipurpose feeder. This generic capacity is not presented here as an exact Letter or Legal stack quantity.

Legal loading requires extending the cassette using its blue tab and following the unusual instruction to retain the rear guide at the LTR mark. Set the machine’s paper size and type for the chosen source after loading. A loose or incompletely inserted cassette can cause feeding problems.

Envelopes use the multipurpose feeder and their specified size and heavy-paper settings. The rear face-up output route takes one sheet at a time; select the appropriate output arrangement for the medium. Two-on-one copying places reduced pages on one side and does not establish automatic print duplex.

Telephone receiving is separate from USB scanning

The exact setup includes a telephone line cord and explains connections for an optional telephone or answering machine. Receive modes include FaxOnly, FaxTel, answering-machine, distinctive-ring and manual arrangements.

Choose the mode for the actual line and attached equipment. FaxOnly answers calls as fax transmissions, while manual operation requires answering fax calls by hand. The telephone function does not add network capture or a modern mobile application route.

Keep the original yield and speed conditions visible

The included X25 is described in the setup as approximately 2,500 Letter pages at 4% dot coverage. The Basic Guide instead gives approximately 2,500 A4 printouts at 5%. These are different declared conditions, not a single ISO rating. Actual documents and exposure change consumption.

The Basic Guide’s 21 Letter copies per minute is a copier figure; printer ppm remains unestablished here. The closed-feeder body measures 19⅛ by 18 5/64 by 17 13/32 inches and weighs approximately 33 lb including the cartridge. Allow the specified 30-inch installation depth and room to open the feeder.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The Basic Guide gives 21 Letter copies per minute. It does not establish an equivalent printer ppm here, so the print-speed field remains unknown. No recommended monthly range or maximum duty is established.

Paper handling

Cassette is rated 250 sheets at 64 gsm; multipurpose feeder takes one sheet. The read generic capacity is not assigned to an exact-size capacity map. Legal cassette loading requires extension. Automatic output duplex is unestablished, and two-on-one copying is not duplex evidence.

Scanning arrangement

Glass maximum is 8.5 by 11¾ inches; feeder maximum is 8.5 by 14 inches. Guaranteed feeder limit is 30 sheets or 8 mm including curl; 50 sheets at 80 gsm is a conditional reference under stated temperature/humidity. Automatic original duplex and color capture remain unestablished.

Computer and mobile connections

Exact MF5750 setup supports USB and explicitly excludes network connection. MF5770 network/Remote UI instructions are not transferred. Telephone line and optional external telephone/answering machine are separately documented.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact setup includes X25 rated approximately 2,500 Letter pages at 4% dot coverage. Basic maintenance gives approximately 2,500 A4 printouts at 5% coverage. These are distinct source conditions, with density, documents, temperature and humidity affecting yield.

Software and support

Actual computer workflow is legacy Windows MF Drivers/MF Toolbox 4.7 or supported TWAIN/WIA software. Current compatibility, mobile printing, PIN-held jobs and automatic duplex are not established by the read originals.

Electrical edition and setup

Closed-feeder body is 19⅛ by 18 5/64 by 17 13/32 inches; 33 lb includes cartridge. Required installation depth with cassette is 30 inches, and opening the feeder raises height. U.S. 120 V, 60 Hz is stated.
