A useful fit for

A supported USB desk handling full Legal originals, duplex feeder capture and occasional envelope output.

The main tradeoff

The second cassette is optional, and Ethernet printing does not provide network computer scanning.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can standard MF6595 combine native USB monochrome output and analog fax with color capture of a Legal original on its glass?

Yes. The standard model has the documented Legal glass and USB computer capture route. Configure the exact scanner software and the separate suitable fax line.

Can its Ethernet print queue also scan paper into the computer?

No. The original operating instructions explicitly restrict computer scanning to USB; Remote UI and wired output are separate capabilities.

Does the standard MF6595 include at least 601 input sheets?

No. The included normal-paper total is 600. Its second 500-sheet cassette is an optional addition, although that cassette is standard on MF6595cx.

Choose the standard MF6595 configuration deliberately

The Canon imageCLASS MF6595 is an earlier monochrome multifunction laser with a useful Legal-size glass, automatic document feeder and analog fax. It can serve an established desk that retains compatible native computer software and values flexible original handling.

The standard configuration has one 500-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. A second 500-sheet cassette is optional on this exact model. The similar MF6595cx includes that cassette, so its taller body and larger input total should not be assigned to an ordinary MF6595.

A full Legal original can use the glass

The actual document requirements allow a Legal original flat on the glass. Lift the feeder assembly, place the original face down, align it to the appropriate marks and close the cover gently. Use the glass for books, delicate originals and documents unsuitable for automatic feeding.

For a suitable stack, fan the originals, align their edges and place them face up in the feeder with the guides adjusted. The stated maximum is fifty ordinary sheets at the documented weight basis, but only twenty-five Legal originals. A Legal feeder rating is therefore not a fifty-Legal-sheet promise.

Keep glue, ink and correction fluid dry, and remove unsuitable clipped, creased or delicate originals from a feeder stack. Those physical restrictions matter to the routine regardless of what the computer’s capture preset is called.

Computer capture belongs to the USB arrangement

The operating guide explicitly restricts computer scanning to USB. Install the exact USB scanner driver and MF Toolbox 4.9. Place the originals, choose Scan at the panel, select the intended Toolbox format and start the capture sequence.

Color capture is supported even though printed and copied output is monochrome. For automatic two-sided original capture, display ScanGear MF and choose Advanced Mode. Select ADF(2-sided), the original size, orientation and binding location, then choose the required color mode before scanning.

Simple Mode does not provide two-sided input. Feeder preview is unavailable, and the crop function is disabled for ADF(2-sided). The instructions establish automatic both-face capture without establishing its physical mechanism, so this assessment does not label it single-pass.

Keep desktop output settings distinct from copy settings

The original printing procedure selects the exact MF6500 native queue and its Preferences or Properties. UFR II LT and the model-supported PCL choices are documented. In Finishing, Print Style selects two-sided output.

Automatic computer-print duplex is positive, but the precise supported paper-size subset is not established in the reviewed print chapter. The copying instructions separately restrict their own duplex paper. Transferring that copy list would create a stronger computer-output claim than the source supports.

Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 output are documented, but a requirement combining an exact paper size with automatic computer duplex remains unresolved here. Confirm the applicable driver and media restrictions before depending on that combination.

Ethernet provides output and management

The wired route needs a network cable, machine address and matching computer destination. The reference guide describes LPD and RAW settings and a standard TCP/IP printer port. Apply the documented restart after changing machine network settings.

Remote UI can expose status and administrative settings to a suitable network computer. It does not overcome the explicit exclusion of network scanning. Likewise, analog fax uses its own appropriate telephone-line setup rather than gaining its line connection from Ethernet.

Plan paper changes, supplies and physical access

Register size and type for the actual source after a stock change. Letter is the initial setting, and the multipurpose tray has its own media and envelope routine. Its 100-sheet normal-paper rating should not be treated as a capacity for every special medium.

The included 600-sheet total remains a generic quantity on the stated 80 gsm basis. The standard body is 20½ by 18 by 17⅞ inches and weighs 54 pounds including toner. Open paper sources and Legal output require more operating room than that body rectangle.

Canon declares the 106 starter at approximately 2,500 pages and replacement 106 at 5,000 under ISO/IEC 19752 using A4 and default density. A recommended monthly range and current running cost are not established. The documented cx variant provides a clear capacity alternative, while a requirement for shared network capture needs separately supported hardware.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Printer specification points to 24-cpm direct Letter copying. No separately explicit one-sided Letter print figure, recommended monthly range or maximum duty is assigned.

Paper handling

Included 500+100 sheets at 80 gsm; optional second 500 excluded. Letter/Legal/A4 ordinary output is documented. Computer automatic-duplex size range remains unestablished. Separate copy restrictions are not transferred.

Scanning arrangement

Legal-size glass and feeder, with USB-only computer capture. Feeder maximum 50 ordinary or 25 Legal originals at 80 gsm. ScanGear Advanced Mode supports automatic two-sided color input; physical mechanism is unknown.

Computer and mobile connections

USB computer print/capture and wired-network print/management are distinct routes. The guide explicitly excludes network scanning. Analog fax needs the suitable separate telephone setup.

Supplies and declared yields

Cartridge 106 starter: approximately 2,500 pages; replacement 106: 5,000 under ISO/IEC 19752 using A4 and default density. Supplied and replacement declarations remain separate.

Software and support

ScanGear two-sided input is Advanced Mode only; ADF preview is unavailable and two-sided feeder crop is disabled. The original historical Windows setup does not promise a present driver for every system.

Electrical edition and setup

Standard MF6595 without optional cassette: 20½ × 18 × 17⅞ inches; 54 lb including toner. U.S. power: 120–127 V, 60 Hz. The CX/two-cassette height and weight are separate.
