Color office work with a genuinely Legal-size scanner

The Canon Color imageCLASS MF810Cdn, U.S. item 9548B001AA, combines color printing, scanning, copying and faxing. Its useful distinction is a glass platen that accepts a complete Legal original, alongside a Legal-capable automatic document feeder. An office handling signed contracts can choose the glass for an unsuitable feeder original without automatically losing the bottom of a Legal page.

Canon recommends one thousand to five thousand monthly pages. Its sixty-seven-thousand-page maximum duty figure describes a different limit and should not become the target for sustained purchasing decisions.

Prepare the wired destination before processing originals

The actual machine interfaces are USB and Gigabit Ethernet. For a computer folder workflow, prepare network file sharing and register the destination in the Address Book. At the panel place the originals, choose Scan, then File and that registered destination, configure the capture and start.

The two-sided original setting offers Book Type and Calendar Type to account for the direction of the reverse image. This confirms automatic capture of both feeder sides. The read sections do not identify whether the mechanism reverses the sheet or captures both faces in one pass, so a single-pass requirement remains unconfirmed.

The feeder holds fifty Letter originals at Canon’s eighty-gram paper basis and accepts documents through Legal size. The glass accepts Legal too, but automatic front-and-back scanning does not apply to a page placed there. For a multipage glass PDF or TIFF, place successive originals and complete the job with Start Sending. JPEG uses a different one-page glass restriction.

Application scanning is another supported arrangement

Computer-initiated capture uses compatible TWAIN or WIA software with the exact scanner driver. Select Scan and Remote Scanner at the machine, start the scan command in the application, choose ScanGear MF or WIA, set the options and import the image.

An application can restrict whether later feeder pages are accepted; Canon tells the operator to scan pages individually if that occurs. A working print queue therefore does not by itself prove that the intended multipage scanner application or destination is ready. Verify that arrangement before assigning a regular document batch.

Output duplex and confidential collection have separate controls

The native driver offers one-sided or two-sided output in Basic Settings, plus a binding location and gutter. Letter, Legal and A4 are explicitly eligible for automatic duplex in the operating paper table. The media footnotes matter: eligible plain and heavy categories are listed separately from envelopes, labels and transparencies.

For a held document, choose Secured Print as the output method and supply the user name and a PIN of up to seven digits. At the machine select Secure Print, choose the job and enter the PIN. The default retention period is thirty minutes; uncollected jobs are erased, and retained work occupies memory.

Close the Remote Scanner screen before attempting release. These are native-driver operations. The existence of AirPrint on the same device does not establish that an Apple mobile job can inherit those PIN controls.

Mobile access uses the office network

AirPrint and Mopria are documented for same-network clients. The printer connects by Ethernet to a router that provides wireless access for the phone or tablet. This arrangement does not establish a wireless radio inside the printer.

Canon also excludes the AirPrint arrangement in which the printer is attached to a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule USB port. Plan the actual network connection instead of treating every USB print-server configuration as equivalent.

Count the base machine and consumables accurately

The included nominal input is a 550-sheet drawer plus a hundred-sheet multipurpose tray. Optional cassette assemblies can expand capacity, but they are additional hardware. The operating table varies stack quantities by stock weight, so a generic capacity headline is not a verified exact-size input quantity for every supported sheet.

The actual base body measures 20⅛ by 22¼ by twenty-four inches and weighs ninety-seven pounds including toner. This operating-manual basis controls conflicting website weight labels. Allow opening and service clearance beyond that body footprint and provide the specified U.S. 120-volt, sixty-hertz supply.

Replacement 034 toner is rated for twelve thousand black pages and 7,300 for each color under ISO/IEC 19798 on A4 at default density. The box includes 034 consumables, but the read evidence does not establish a separate included-toner yield. Drums and the waste-toner container are separate maintenance items; color drums also wear during monochrome work. Budget their actual condition rather than using a toner rating as a promise for the entire consumable system.
