1130n (US110–127V configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A small wired workgroup with a confirmed compatible computer-driver setup and occasional manual duplex needs.

The main tradeoff

It has no automatic duplex or scanner, and native phone protocols remain unconfirmed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the exact1130n print monochrome Legal documents over Ethernet with 250 bulk sheets and a 24 ppm Letter declaration?

Yes. Those are documented 1130n capabilities, subject to a working compatible driver.

Is automatic duplex included because this is the network model?

No. Both family models use manual two-sided paper refeeding.

Does Ethernet establish an included Wi-Fi connection?

No. An included wireless route is not documented.

The networked version of a compact monochrome family

The Dell 1130n is an earlier monochrome laser printer with an included Ethernet connection. It is intended for straightforward office documents, with a covered 250-sheet drawer and a low-profile body. It prints only: there is no scanner, copier, automatic document feeder or fax function.

The n suffix changes more than the connection label. In Dell's original comparison, the 1130n has a faster declared Letter rate, more memory and different processing resources than the USB-only 1130. Confirm that exact model when considering a mixed-family listing or a photograph that does not clearly show the rear interfaces.

Ethernet sharing without assuming wireless hardware

The documented interfaces are high-speed USB 2.0 for a computer and 10/100 Ethernet for a network. A wired network connection can make sense for a small workgroup with a stable printer location. Set up the network address and a compatible driver for the actual computers that will send work.

Ethernet does not mean the printer contains a Wi-Fi radio. The reviewed sheet also does not establish native AirPrint or Mopria. If phone printing is a key requirement, verify the exact supported route rather than treating a general network capability as proof of every modern mobile protocol.

The computer language and driver still matter

The 1130n's original resources include a 360MHz processor and fixed 64MB memory. The document lists several computer print-language arrangements, including PCL emulations. Those distinctions can matter when identifying a suitable driver, but do not guarantee that every present-day operating system will support every application.

A list of PostScript fonts is also not the same thing as a confirmed Adobe PostScript interpreter. Before making the printer part of a continuing office workflow, try representative documents from the intended software. Large graphics, unusual fonts and application-specific output can reveal differences that a simple test page does not.

Useful ordinary input, with a one-sheet specialty feed

The covered drawer provides 250 bulk sheets. A separate single-sheet feed position makes the physical maximum 251, rather than providing a second substantial paper supply. There is no documented input expansion option, so compare the everyday refill routine with the standard drawer itself.

The original US media table explicitly lists Letter and Legal, with envelopes handled through the instructed specialty path. Choose the correct size and type settings, and check any other required stock against the applicable manual. A general material name does not mean every feeder or layout can use it in the same way.

Frequent duplex work is a different requirement

The 1130n does not include an automatic duplex unit. Its documented two-sided arrangement is manual, requiring the user to return the sheets for their second side. That can work for an occasional short document when the driver and paper orientation are understood.

It becomes a more significant interruption when double-sided reports are frequent. If automatic two-sided output is essential, the presence of Ethernet and a faster print rate do not compensate for the missing paper-turning mechanism. Treat that requirement separately in the shortlist.

Assess speed, consumables and the actual older machine

Dell declares up to 24 one-sided Letter pages per minute, with separate first-page figures for ready and power-saving states. The 12,000-page maximum monthly duty is not a normal workload recommendation. Actual speed and practical suitability depend on document pattern, software and machine condition.

The original starter cartridge had a smaller declaration than either replacement option, so check what is actually installed. Also verify the voltage label, because separate regional power versions were documented. Allow paper and cover access around the roughly 14.2 × 15.3 × 7.8-inch closed body. Choose the 1130n for a confirmed wired monochrome routine, with its manual duplex and older driver environment understood.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact 1130n declares up to 24 ppm Letter. Typical monthly volume and maximum duty are separate from an explicit recommended interval. Base 1130 rates are not substituted.

Paper handling

The 250-sheet drawer and single-sheet feed are distinct paths. Letter/Legal are explicit; this exact US table does not establish A4. Duplex is manual, and no input expansion is listed.

Scanning arrangement

1130n is a dedicated monochrome laser printer without document scanning, ADF, copying or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

Computer USB and 10/100 Ethernet are included on 1130n. No included wireless or native AirPrint/Mopria arrangement is established.

Supplies and declared yields

The original separates approximately 700-page starter and 1500/2500-page replacements under its ISO condition. Historical warranty and recycling offers are not current entitlements.

Software and support

Use exact compatible SPL/GDI/PCL or stated legacy software. Listed PostScript fonts do not independently establish an Adobe interpreter. Confidential PIN release remains unconfirmed.

Electrical edition and setup

The US low-voltage 110–127 V edition differs from 220–240 V. Check the actual rating label. Closed body: 14.2 × 15.3 × 7.8 inches; loaded-mass basis is unspecified. Allow ventilation and service access.
