Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible Ethernet desktop print duplex monochrome Legal sheets and use four-digit Confidential release with a 300-sheet ordinary input?
Yes. The exact media list, included automatic unit and actual held-job instructions support that desktop arrangement. Use the operation guide’s approved ordinary-paper weight.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the ordinary 3330dn meet a 550-sheet included input requirement?
No. Included input is 250 plus 50. The additional 550-sheet drawer is an option and is not assumed installed.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this printer scan a document back to the USB computer?
No. It is a single-function printer without document-scanning hardware.
Explore this need in the finder →A monochrome printer with a real held-job routine
The Dell 3330dn is an earlier single-function laser printer for shared black-and-white output. Its useful combination is included Ethernet, automatic print duplex and a documented numeric job-release routine. It can fit a compatible office computer workflow without taking on document capture, copying or fax.
Its numeric control panel is not the only evidence for confidential printing. Dell's operating guide describes a four-digit PIN created at the computer, a job held in printer memory and release at the machine. That complete routine is the relevant feature when collection privacy matters.
Configure the actual Confidential job
The Windows procedure uses the driver's Print and Hold options; the supported Mac procedure uses Job Routing. Select a Confidential job, assign its user identity and PIN, then verify that the intended document waits until collection. A normal print setting will not become held simply because a keypad is present.
The guide warns that memory pressure can remove held jobs. The feature is useful for controlled collection, but its temporary storage is not a permanent archive. Keep the source document available and test a representative file rather than only a very small sample page.
Driver and present operating-system compatibility still need to be established. A historical software list does not guarantee that every current computer exposes the same held-job controls or paper settings.
Keep the included input separate from expansion
The covered drawer holds 250 suitable ordinary sheets and the multipurpose feeder holds another 50. The exact brochure lists Letter, Legal and A4 in both. An optional 550-sheet drawer increases capacity only when actually installed; the ordinary configuration remains 300 sheets.
Those two included inputs can serve everyday stock and an instructed alternate feed. Match the actual size and type settings before printing. Special media have lower loading limits, so the ordinary-paper total is not an envelope, label or card-stock capacity.
The operation guide gives a particularly important material restriction: the engine and duplex path support 60–90gsm paper. The multipurpose feeder accepts a broader range for suitable one-sided materials. Its broader weight limit should not be applied automatically to duplex jobs.
Automatic duplex covers ordinary office sizes
The automatic unit is included, and Dell's exact media specification supports Letter, Legal and A4 duplex. Use appropriate ordinary stock and check the binding orientation with a short packet. Layout options and a successful one-sided print do not establish that every special material is suitable for two-sided travel.
For envelopes, use the appropriate multipurpose feed and its lower loading limit. Try the actual material and address layout before preparing a batch. The guide also places explicit limits on occasional paper-label use rather than treating labels as everyday unrestricted stock.
Use a compatible wired installation
USB and 10/100 Ethernet are included, along with a legacy parallel interface. The reviewed computer plans use USB or Ethernet with compatible software. The brochure says connection cables are not included, so check the complete installation kit.
No included wireless radio or native mobile service is established here. Bonjour and IPP protocol names alone do not prove AirPrint. The single-function hardware also cannot capture documents, regardless of which connection is selected.
Judge the complete earlier unit
Dell's Letter speed and maximum monthly duty are separate declarations, with no confirmed recommended monthly interval assigned. Inspect toner, the separate imaging drum and feeding condition. Check the electrical label and working space, then choose the 3330dn when its verified wired monochrome duplex and PIN workflow fits the office.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Dell declares up to 40 one-sided Letter ppm and an 80,000-page maximum monthly duty. No confirmed maker recommended monthly interval is assigned.
Paper handling
Included input is a 250-sheet drawer plus 50-sheet multipurpose feeder, both explicitly supporting Letter, Legal and A4 in the exact brochure. Automatic duplex supports those sizes. The operation guide restricts the printer engine and duplex path to 60–90 gsm; the broader special-media weights in the brochure are not applied to duplex. Optional 550-sheet drawer excluded. Envelopes use the appropriate multipurpose settings and lower loading limit.
Scanning arrangement
The exact 3330dn is a single-function monochrome laser printer. There is no scanner, flatbed, document feeder, copier or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer interfaces are USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and a legacy IEEE1284 parallel port. The reviewed questionnaire plans use USB or Ethernet; no included wireless hardware or native mobile service is established. Connection cables are not included according to the brochure.
Supplies and declared yields
Dell declares approximately 7,000-page shipped or standard toner and 14,000-page high-capacity toner under ISO/IEC 19752. The imaging drum is separately replaceable, with a declared interval around 30,000 printed sides. Inspect both actual components and maintenance condition.
Software and support
Use a compatible actual desktop driver. The guide positively documents Confidential jobs with a four-digit numeric PIN from the computer, held in printer memory for panel release. Windows Print and Hold and supported Mac Job Routing are separate instructed routes. Memory pressure can remove held jobs, so test the actual document and do not use volatile held storage as a document archive. A native mobile route is not inferred from Bonjour or IPP support alone.
Electrical edition and setup
The US brochure specifies 110–127 V power. Its cabinet dimensions are explicitly ordered height × width × depth: 10.2 × 16.6 × 14.53 inches; the fields correctly use width 16.6, depth 14.53 and height 10.2. Printer weight is 31.15 lb, separate from packaging and optional drawer. Allow loading, output, cable and service clearance. A stray 5230dn power paragraph is not assigned to this model.
