5330dn (US low-voltage configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired office needing black-and-white documents and a substantial base paper supply.

The main tradeoff

Recommended monthly volume and native mobile printing are unconfirmed; optional paper configurations need exact checking.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a wired computer use included automatic duplex with 600-sheet total standard input?

Yes, when no particular duplex paper size is required; that size needs separate confirmation.

Does the 250000-page duty figure establish a 10000-page recommended monthly workload?

No. The reviewed source gives maximum duty without a recommended monthly range.

Can it scan originals to a computer?

No. It is a printing-only machine.

A dedicated printer for substantial monochrome documents

The Dell 5330dn is an earlier monochrome laser printer with standard network connectivity and automatic two-sided printing. It is relevant to an office evaluating an existing or previously owned machine for black-and-white documents. It does not provide scanning, copying or faxing, so those tasks require a separate device.

Its strongest documented basics are a useful standard paper supply, a declared Letter printing rate and several wired connection choices. Choosing it sensibly means checking the actual unit and software environment, rather than treating an old enterprise-oriented product description as a guarantee of present condition or support.

A fast declaration is not a monthly workload recommendation

Dell's original sheet declares up to 50 Letter pages per minute. Actual speed depends on use, and a long simple text document can behave differently from a complex file or a succession of isolated pages. The headline rate should therefore be considered alongside the office's real pattern of work.

The much larger 250,000-page monthly figure is expressly a maximum duty rating. The reviewed source does not establish a recommended normal monthly range. It would be misleading to present that peak figure as a sensible ongoing workload, particularly for an older machine whose page count and maintenance history have not been inspected.

Start with the base paper supply

The included input arrangement is a 500-sheet drawer plus a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. That gives a 600-sheet standard total before optional accessories. Compare this installed arrangement first; an extended configuration in a promotional photograph may contain additional paper-handling hardware that a particular seller does not include.

The brochure's expanded-capacity descriptions do not give a consistent accessory calculation. Confirm the exact drawer and high-capacity feeder combination with its applicable documentation instead of using the largest printed total as a purchasing promise. Extra hardware also changes the space, access and stability requirements of the installation.

Check the exact paper routine before relying on duplex

Automatic two-sided printing is part of the base specification. Letter, Legal and A4 appear in the broad paper-size list, and the material list includes several special stocks. Those two statements do not independently identify every approved size, weight and feeder combination for duplex printing.

For a routine involving Legal duplex, labels or envelopes, confirm the relevant manual and driver settings before purchase. A sheet that can enter a feeder for one-sided output is not necessarily suitable for a return path. The distinction matters more than a long undifferentiated list of paper names.

Wired connectivity is the straightforward starting point

USB, parallel and Gigabit Ethernet are documented standard interfaces. Wireless depends on an optional Dell adapter. Check the actual rear connections and any installed adapter rather than assuming that a network-capable model also includes wireless hardware.

The old network-protocol list includes familiar names such as Bonjour and IPP, but those names alone do not establish native AirPrint or Mopria support. Likewise, an ordinary network-security feature is not proof of confidential PIN-release printing. Check the actual computer driver, application and desired job-collection routine separately.

Inspect supplies, dimensions and service condition

The original shipment included a declared 10,000-page toner cartridge, with standard and larger replacement choices. Those original yield figures help identify supply expectations, but do not establish current cartridge prices, remaining toner or the maintenance condition of an individual printer.

The loaded printer is listed at about 47lb, with a width around 16.34 inches and depth around 18.74 inches. Measure the actual height and working clearance before installation, since the brochure's imperial and metric height entries disagree. Choose it around verified monochrome document needs and an actual compatible wired setup, after checking voltage, service history and the included accessories.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original declared up to 50 ppm Letter. The 250000-page figure is maximum monthly duty, not a recommended monthly workload. No recommended range is established by this source.

Paper handling

Included 500-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder, 600 total. Broad media list includes Letter, Legal, A4 and envelopes but this sheet does not assign each size to a capacity or duplex path. Automatic duplex is included; exact duplex sizes remain unconfirmed. Optional maximum descriptions are internally inconsistent and are not promoted to a verified expanded capacity.

Scanning arrangement

5330dn is a single-function monochrome laser printer. It has no document scanner, ADF, copying or fax function.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB 2 computer connection, parallel and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless requires an optional Dell adapter. Bonjour, IPP and other network transport names do not independently establish native AirPrint or Mopria.

Supplies and declared yields

Originally included 10000-page cartridge, with declared 10000 standard or 20000 high-capacity replacements under ISO/IEC 19752. Yield depends on use. Historical warranty and low-running-cost statements do not prove current coverage, supply prices or remaining maintenance life.

Software and support

Original 500MHz processor and 256 MB memory, expandable to 768 MB with an optional 512 MB module. PCL6 and PostScript 3 are emulations. Confidential PIN job release is not established by the reviewed sheet; ordinary security protocols are not substituted for that function. Confirm an actual compatible driver on the intended computer.

Electrical edition and setup

The documented US low-voltage variant uses 100–127 VAC, nominal 47–63 Hz. Width 16.34 in and depth 18.74 in agree with their metric counterparts. Published height 14.84 in conflicts with 344 mm, so height is unconfirmed rather than arbitrarily converted. Weight 47 lb includes standard toner; allow extra access and installed accessory space.
