Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can Ethernet combine ordinary Legal duplex, 250 bulk sheets, a 29 ppm Letter declaration and the documented US-voltage configuration?
Yes, with the compatible computer-driver setup, approved paper and the actual low-voltage regional unit.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the base machine include Wi-Fi because AirPrint is listed?
No. Its documented AirPrint route uses the shared ordinary network through Ethernet; an included printer Wi-Fi radio is not established.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this model scan documents to a computer?
No. It is a single-function printer without a document scanner.
Explore this need in the finder →A straightforward wired monochrome printer
The Dell B1260dn is an earlier single-function laser printer for black-and-white documents. Its useful combination is included automatic duplex, a normal paper drawer and both USB and wired Ethernet. It is a sensible model to investigate for a document desk or a small shared queue when scanning and color output are handled elsewhere.
It does not include a document scanner, copier or fax. A network connection gives people another way to reach the printer, but does not add those missing document functions. Start with the actual output job and the computers that need to use it.
Plan around a 250-sheet bulk supply
The standard drawer takes up to 250 suitable ordinary sheets. A separate manual feeder handles one sheet at a time. Together they are sometimes listed as 251 positions, but that extra feed position does not turn into another bulk paper reservoir between refills.
The original media table includes Letter, Legal and A4 within the drawer's ordinary-paper capacity. Set the size and type to match what is loaded. The manual feeder is useful for an occasional alternate sheet or an instructed envelope job; envelopes are not supported in the main drawer.
Think about how often somebody will refill the machine and how mixed-media jobs will be handled. A short manual feed is convenient for occasional exceptions, while repeated switching between two sizable paper stocks calls for a different paper arrangement.
Automatic duplex is a real hardware feature
The exact-model feature list and the family table both establish the included automatic duplex unit. The original advanced instructions identify Letter, Legal and A4 among the supported ordinary two-sided sizes. That makes the B1260dn different from a printer whose two-sided routine depends entirely on someone turning and reloading a stack.
Select the correct binding direction in the supported driver and run a short sample before a large job. An accepted envelope or special material is not automatically approved for duplex. The guide specifically cautions against using both sides of unsuitable labels, envelopes or thick stock.
A wired printer can still serve a phone on the home network
The included connections are USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet. It is not an included Wi-Fi printer. For a shared wired setup, place it within reach of the appropriate network connection and configure it on that network.
AirPrint is separately documented using Bonjour and IPP. A phone using the same ordinary router network can reach a wired printer without the printer itself having a wireless radio. That should not be confused with a direct phone-to-printer Wi-Fi connection or with printing from anywhere over the internet.
For a desktop, check the compatible driver and representative application output. The original manual's operating-system list describes its publication period; it does not establish every current computer combination. Likewise, signing into the printer's configuration page does not independently prove confidential jobs held for a collection PIN.
Read speed and duty as separate declarations
Dell declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages per minute, with a separate 14ppm duplex declaration for Letter and A4. Those are original rated document figures, not a measured result for every file, the first page of a short job or a complex layout.
The 20,000-page maximum monthly duty figure should not be treated as a normal operating target. Inspect an earlier unit's page count, feeding condition and maintenance history, then test the work it will actually receive.
Check supplies and physical access before choosing
Identify the installed toner rather than assuming the largest compatible replacement is included. Check the rating label for the intended electrical region and measure access for loading, output and cables as well as the closed cabinet.
Choose the B1260dn for a verified wired black-and-white document routine with useful automatic duplex. Its appeal depends on working software, healthy paper handling and suitable supplies, rather than an old cloud-feature list or a maximum-duty number.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Original guide declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages per minute or 28 A4; separate duplex declaration is 14 ppm for Letter/A4. Family table lists 20,000 maximum monthly duty and labels 300–500 pages as typical use, not a verified recommended-volume interval.
Paper handling
The standard drawer holds 250 ordinary sheets and the manual feeder takes one sheet at a time: 251 physical positions, but 250 bulk sheets for refill matching. Actual original paper table59 confirms Letter, Legal and A4 under the shared base-tray capacity. Original112 explicitly allows those ordinary sizes for two-sided printing; exact-model features6 and family7 confirm the included duplex hardware. Envelopes use the manual path, not the drawer or duplex unit.
Scanning arrangement
The B1260dn is a single-function monochrome printer. It does not include a document scanner, ADF, copying or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB 2.0 computer connection and 10/100Base-TX Ethernet. No included Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct is established. AirPrint is separately documented through the ordinary network, with Bonjour/mDNS and IPP enabled; a wired printer can share that network with a wireless phone.
Supplies and declared yields
Original family table lists a 1,000-page shipped cartridge, a 1,500-page standard replacement and a 2,500-page high-capacity replacement under ISO/IEC 19752. Identify the actual installed cartridge and remaining condition rather than assuming an original or full cartridge accompanies a current offer.
Software and support
The original guide documents PCL6, SPL and XPS driver arrangements with operating-system conditions. Check the available supported driver and representative output on the intended current computer. The embedded web-management sign-in controls configuration and does not independently establish confidential held-job PIN release.
Electrical edition and setup
Reference configuration is the documented 110–127 VAC regional version; separate 220–240 V hardware exists, so check the rating label. Original dimensions of 348 × 338 × 197 mm are about 13.7 × 13.31 × 7.76 inches, with a consumables-included weight of 7.2 kg / 15.87 lb. Allow tray, output, cable and ventilation access beyond the closed body.
