Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible ordinary Wi-Fi desktop print duplex Legal sheets and capture a single-sided Legal batch with 251 ordinary-paper positions?
Yes. The US duplex table supports Legal, the simplex feeder accepts Legal originals, and the ordinary input is 250 plus one.
Explore this need in the finder →Does this reviewed US 110 V unit establish automatic A4 duplex?
No. The actual voltage-specific duplex table places A4 in the 220 V row, while the 110 V row names Letter, Legal, Folio and Oficio.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the 40-sheet ADF automatically scan both sides of each original?
No. The exact brochure identifies the feeder as simplex. Automatic two-sided printing does not add a duplex scanner.

The Dell B1265dfw combines monochrome laser printing, copying, color scanning and fax with included wired and wireless connections. Its useful fit is a compatible small-office workflow handling ordinary black-and-white output and batches of single-sided originals. Automatic print duplex is included, while the document feeder captures one side at a time.
The exact dfw suffix matters. Dell's shared guide distinguishes its wireless hardware from the related wired model. Confirm the actual unit and regional electrical label before relying on a general family description.
Match duplex paper to the regional machine
The included ordinary tray holds 250 sheets and the separate manual feeder handles one sheet. Both explicitly accept Letter, Legal and A4 for ordinary printing. A software option or a larger media list should not be mistaken for unrestricted automatic duplex support.
The actual loading chapter divides duplex media by power version. Its 110V row lists Letter, Legal, US Folio and Oficio; its 220V row lists A4. This assessment covers the US low-voltage unit, so Letter and Legal are supported duplex choices while A4 automatic duplex is not promised.
Dell's exact dfw brochure identifies the automatic duplexer. The shared guide also contains generic manual-duplex wording, but supplies a physical duplex-unit chapter and the regional media table. Check the real configuration and a sample packet before making it responsible for regular two-sided output.
The ADF is explicitly simplex
The brochure identifies a 40-sheet simplex document feeder. Its original-media bounds accommodate Letter, Legal and A4. It can reduce repeated placement for a suitable stack, but will not automatically capture the reverse side of each record.
Prepare an attended process for double-sided originals, checking page order and orientation in the saved file. ID copying and two-sided print output are separate functions; neither creates a duplex scanning mechanism.
The flatbed serves individually positioned originals. The brochure states a maximum captured area of 208 by 297mm without naming complete Letter or A4 glass capture. Preview edge content instead of translating print-paper support into a full-sheet scan promise. A complete Legal original needs the documented feeder route.
Establish the actual computer capture route
USB, 10/100 Ethernet and ordinary Wi-Fi are included. The operating guide documents USB WIA and TWAIN, along with supported network TWAIN or a registered Network PC destination. Install compatible software and verify the application or folder that will receive the document.
A scan-computer identity or password belongs to that transfer arrangement. It is different from a held-print collection code. Likewise, secure fax reception concerns received faxes rather than proving confidential desktop print release.
Mobile printing is another configuration
AirPrint is documented through a configured ordinary network with Bonjour and IPP. It is a printing route and does not inherit the desktop scanner or every driver-specific media choice. The reviewed mobile plan therefore remains narrower than the desktop plan.
Wi-Fi Direct is separately enabled and used with compatible mobile printing software. Its network key controls joining the printer's local connection. Historical cloud-service names are not treated as proof that an old service still functions.
Envelopes use the manual feeder with the matching media setting. Test their orientation and feeding before preparing a batch. The scanner can capture color even though the print engine produces black-and-white output, so decide separately whether the saved image and the printed copy meet the document’s purpose.
Judge the earlier unit by its working condition
The maker's one-sided Letter rate and recommended monthly range are separate from maximum duty. Inspect the actual toner, feeding and service condition. Choose the B1265dfw when the verified US print-duplex and simplex-capture workflow fits the office's documents.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Dell declares up to 29 one-sided Letter ppm and 28 A4 ppm. The exact brochure labels 300–1,000 pages as recommended monthly volume, separate from its 20,000-page maximum duty.
Paper handling
Included input is a 250-sheet ordinary tray plus one separate manual feeder, both supporting Letter, Legal and A4. The actual loading chapter restricts 110 V duplex to Letter, Legal, US Folio and Oficio; its 220 V row names A4. This US plan therefore does not promise A4 automatic duplex. Envelopes use the manual feeder.
Scanning arrangement
The original brochure explicitly identifies the 40-sheet ADF as simplex. Its original-media bounds support Letter, Legal and A4; there is no automatic two-sided capture. The flatbed is documented but the brochure’s 208 × 297 mm maximum scan area does not positively name complete Letter or A4 capture, so named glass coverage remains unknown. Check image margins and use a suitable attended process for double-sided originals.
Computer and mobile connections
The reviewed US dfw configuration includes USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The guide specifically limits wireless hardware to dfw. Enabled Wi-Fi Direct uses a compatible mobile printing application, separately from ordinary network AirPrint.
Supplies and declared yields
The original brochure declares 1,000-page shipped, 1,500-page standard and 2,500-page high-capacity toner choices. Its yield footnote prints ISO/IEC 19798 for this monochrome product; that declaration is retained as printed rather than silently changed. Check the actual cartridge and remaining condition.
Software and support
Desktop USB WIA/TWAIN and supported network TWAIN or registered Network PC capture form the reviewed computer plans. Use compatible actual print and scan software. AirPrint is a separate Bonjour/IPP network printing arrangement, without borrowing desktop media, duplex or scanner settings. Secure fax reception and WPS or scan-computer PINs do not establish held-print PIN release. The shared guide contains generic manual-duplex wording, but the exact dfw brochure positively identifies an automatic unit and the guide provides its physical duplex-unit chapter and voltage-specific media restrictions.
Electrical edition and setup
Scope is the US 110–127 VAC edition after checking the actual rating label. The operating guide gives a 406 × 338 × 384 mm body, about 15.98 × 13.30 × 15.12 inches, with 11.1 kg loaded mass; the brochure expresses loaded weight as 24.47 lb. Allow scanner, feeder, tray and service access.
