The Dell B5465dnf is an earlier laser multifunction machine intended for a shared document workflow. It combines monochrome printing with a scanner, standalone copying and fax. The large color control screen does not make the printed output color; color capture and black-and-white output are separate capabilities here.

Its useful distinctions are substantial standard paper handling, a Legal-size glass and an automatic two-sided document feeder. Look at those together with the connection and software the office will actually use. A list of individual features is less useful than a working route from an original document to its destination.

Legal originals can use the glass or the feeder

The original guide specifies a flatbed accepting originals up to 216 by 355.6 millimeters. That accommodates Legal sheets on the glass, which matters when an original should not be fed through rollers. Leave enough room to open the lid and position the document, especially under shelving.

The ADF holds up to 150 suitable sheets and supports automatic scanning of both document sides. The original paper table separately confirms Letter, Legal and A4 in the feeder and on the glass. Use the applicable document condition and loading instructions; a generous sheet capacity does not make damaged or delicate originals suitable for automatic feeding.

Automatic two-sided capture is established, but the reviewed instructions do not independently identify a single-pass mechanism. If scanning both sides in one pass is essential to the workflow, that requirement needs its own evidence rather than being inferred from the duplex ADF name.

Use the configured network for the documented computer-scan route

Gigabit Ethernet is included. The guide describes a network Scan Profile and a Scan to Computer workflow, with setup and software conditions. Establish the destination, permissions and compatible software, then test that an actual scan reaches the intended computer in the required format.

A USB computer connection also supports printing. Separately, the machine can capture documents to a USB flash drive. Those are different operations: flash-drive scanning does not independently prove that a USB-cabled computer receives scans through its application. Choose the confirmed network route when computer capture is central to the shortlist.

Plan paper supply around what is included

The base arrangement provides a 550-sheet drawer and a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder, giving 650 standard sheets. The original tables explicitly confirm Letter, Legal and A4 for both included paths and for automatic two-sided printing. Correct size and media settings still matter for each job.

Optional drawers can expand the physical total to 3,300 sheets, using an approved supported stack. Confirm the actual accessories, their condition and the necessary base before planning that capacity. Extra drawers also change loading access and installation height.

Keep computer PIN jobs separate from native phone printing

The compatible computer-driver Print and Hold workflow supports confidential jobs collected with a four-digit PIN. Test both submission and release rather than assuming that a network connection alone makes every job private. The instructions describe RAM limits: jobs may be removed when memory is needed and disappear when the printer shuts down.

AirPrint is documented on the ordinary shared network. It does not independently establish native phone submission of confidential PIN jobs. Wireless operation also needs optional hardware; a phone on the same router network can use an Ethernet-connected printer without the printer itself containing an included Wi-Fi radio.

Check the actual unit before planning a busy office

Dell declares up to 70 one-sided Letter pages per minute. That is an original rated print speed, not a measured scanning rate or a promise for every complex document. The 300,000-page maximum duty figure is likewise different from a normal operating target.

Inspect the rating label, maintenance history, feeding condition and supplied toner. The original starter capacity does not establish what remains in a current offer.
