Its useful arrangement is USB for a nearby compatible computer or Ethernet for a shared office setup. Its deciding tradeoff is attended paper handling: two-sided printing is manual, and the small feeder scans one side of an original.
The C1765nfw adds wireless hardware. That extra final letter matters. A shared guide or photograph of the wireless model does not give the C1765nf an included Wi-Fi connection, even though both models offer the same general document functions.
Build the wired workflow around a real receiving computer
Ethernet is useful when the printer's location and the office network allow a cable connection. Dell documents network printing and separate computer-capture methods. Set up the driver and then verify an actual scan into the desired application or shared folder.
The guide distinguishes USB application scanning, USB-only WIA and a TWAIN procedure using Ethernet or USB. WSD and SMB/FTP have their own network setup. Those are working arrangements to check, rather than interchangeable names that guarantee every application can scan through every connection.
