The Dell C5765dn is an earlier workgroup color laser MFP combining printing, copying and scanning. Its useful strengths are included automatic print duplex, a large duplex feeder, substantial ordinary input and a Legal-capable document glass. Fax requires a separate kit and is not counted as included.
This is a sizeable installation rather than a small desk accessory. Dell's US sheet distinguishes the ordinary cabinet from optional extra feeders and a finisher. Check the actual configuration and working space before judging whether the machine fits its intended location.
Legal originals can use the glass or feeder
The operation guide gives both original routes a maximum of 216 by 356mm. Unlike a Letter-length flatbed paired with a Legal feeder, this model positively establishes Legal glass placement. It can therefore handle an appropriate long original that needs individual positioning.
The duplex feeder supports automatic capture of both sides, but its read description does not establish a single-pass or reversing mechanism. Its ordinary capacity is 110 suitable sheets, with lower limits and restrictions for other weights. In particular, the guide excludes its lightest approved originals from two-sided scanning.
Prepare a suitable stack and inspect the captured file. Large feeder capacity does not guarantee that wrinkled, folded, pasted or mixed unsuitable originals will travel correctly. Use the glass for an appropriate item that should not be fed.
Network capture is different from USB printing
The machine can print from a compatible USB computer or through Gigabit Ethernet. The actual Scan to PC procedure, however, sends documents to a network computer using SMB or FTP. It requires enabled ports, TCP/IP settings, a destination folder and appropriate account permissions.
The reviewed Ethernet arrangement supports that complete computer workflow. A USB-only print connection does not inherit the network scan bridge. Capturing to a USB memory device at the machine is another operation and does not prove capture through the computer's USB cable.
Test the actual destination and a representative multi-page file. A successful network print does not show that folder permissions, image settings or page order are correct. Historical operating-system lists also do not guarantee a present computer will accept every older network routine unchanged.
Count the ordinary paper configuration
The included drawer holds 550 suitable ordinary sheets and the multipurpose feeder holds 150. The original media table supports Letter, Legal and A4 in both, giving 700 ordinary positions. It also establishes those sizes through the automatic duplex module with suitable stock.
Extra drawers, the high-capacity feeder and finishing hardware are separate options. Their larger advertised totals should be used only after checking installed hardware. A finisher's output capacity is also different from the printer's paper input.
Envelopes have special tray and type settings and are not duplex media. Match the actual source and driver settings, and check a sample before a larger run of alternate stock.
Configure the held-job policy
Secure Print stores a passcode-protected job for release through the machine's Job Status interface. The guide also explains that administrator accounting and Receive Control choices can reroute jobs into other stored-job categories. Verify the real policy and a held sample rather than assuming a driver selection guarantees the intended release screen.
Dell's family table marks native AirPrint unavailable for this model. Historical branded mobile-app support is not equivalent to AirPrint or a promise that an old app remains usable. Keep any required modern mobile workflow separate until it is demonstrated.
Use the workload labels and inspect the unit
The exact US brochure explicitly gives a recommended monthly range, separately from maximum duty and the one-sided Letter speed. Inspect supplies and service condition, confirm the electrical label and optional fax status, then choose the C5765dn when its verified network color and Legal-capture workflow meets the workgroup's needs.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact US brochure declares up to 47 one-sided Letter ppm in black or color, separately from 45 A4. It explicitly labels 4,000–15,000 pages as recommended monthly volume and 110,000 as maximum duty. A later family column’s typical label does not erase the exact US recommendation.
Paper handling
Included ordinary input is a 550-sheet drawer plus a 150-sheet multipurpose feeder. Exact media tables support Letter, Legal and A4 in both and through the automatic duplex module with suitable stock. Additional drawers, high-capacity feeder and finisher are optional and excluded. Envelopes have separate tray/type settings and do not support duplex.
Scanning arrangement
The document glass and feeder both support originals through 216 × 356 mm, including Legal. The duplex ADF holds 110 suitable 50–80 gsm originals; its heavier 81–128 gsm limit is 75. Lightweight 38–49 gsm originals cannot be scanned two-sided. Actual Scan to PC uses an ordinary network SMB/FTP destination. Automatic feeder duplex is confirmed but its mechanical method is not established.
Computer and mobile connections
Included computer printing connections are USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. The actual Scan to PC operation requires a configured network, ports and computer destination; no USB-only computer scan bridge is assigned. USB memory capture is separate from USB computer printing. Native AirPrint is marked No in the exact family column.
Supplies and declared yields
The original US brochure declares 9,000-page shipped or standard black toner, 12,000-page shipped or standard CMY and 18,000-page high-capacity black under ISO/IEC 19798. Drums are separate maintenance components. Check actual toner, storage, scanner and service condition on this earlier workgroup machine.
Software and support
Use a compatible actual desktop print driver. Secure Print stores a passcode-protected job for release through the machine’s Job Status interface, using included storage. Accounting and Receive Control policies can reroute those jobs, so verify the actual administrator configuration and a held sample. Ethernet computer capture needs SMB/FTP ports, TCP/IP, folder permissions and a real destination. Historic mobile apps and integrations are not a promise of current availability or native AirPrint.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact US sheet gives a 110 VAC ± 10% regional edition; inspect the actual label. The closed cabinet is 22 × 21.1 × 24.8 inches, with a declared 123.2 lb including consumables. Optional feeders and finishing hardware change space and handling requirements. Fax is an optional separately purchased kit, not part of the ordinary print/copy/scan configuration.
