A wired color multifunction printer with single-pass scanning

The Dell Color Smart Multifunction Printer S2825cdn is an earlier color machine combining printing, scanning, copying and fax. Its strongest practical distinction is a 50-sheet single-pass duplex document feeder that explicitly accepts Legal originals, alongside a separate glass for smaller or bound material.

It is the wired member of a shared printer family. USB computer connection and Gigabit Ethernet are documented, while the shared manual reserves wireless connectivity for the H625cdw and H825cdw. A family-level Wi-Fi instruction should therefore not become an included S2825cdn feature.

Legal originals belong in the document feeder

The single-pass feeder supports Letter, Legal and A4 originals. The flatbed's documented length is 297mm, making it suitable for Letter and A4 rather than a full Legal page. A Legal-sized sheet in the feeder does not establish a Legal-sized glass.

Choose the route around the material. A stack of ordinary loose sheets can use the feeder, while a book or delicate item may require the glass. The questionnaire distinguishes those needs instead of treating every scanning-capable machine as suitable for every original.

Computer scanning has confirmed USB and network arrangements

The original guide explicitly supports sending scans to a USB-connected computer and using TWAIN over USB or a network. Network scanning also has documented WSD and configured shared-folder arrangements. These require the appropriate computer setup, destination details and permissions.

Saving to a USB flash drive is another function. It should not be substituted as evidence for USB computer scanning, even though this model independently documents both. Check the actual computer operating system and compatible software before relying on a historical driver list.

Secure Print uses configured memory and a supported driver

The US sheet identifies four-digit PIN collection. The original guide explains the necessary arrangement: enable the RAM disk in the printer and mark it available in the PCL or PostScript driver, with enough memory for the job. The included memory supports this configured workflow without assuming a separately purchased hard disk.

Stored jobs are cleared when the printer is powered off. Secure Print and a reusable private mailbox also have different retention behavior. Select the job type around the actual collection need rather than treating all memory-storage functions as equivalent.

AirPrint and Mopria are separately documented for an ordinary shared network. Their PIN-release behavior is not established by the computer-driver instructions, so the recommendation keeps those arrangements separate when confidential collection is essential.

Use ordinary paper and the recommended workload

The included paper supply is a 250-sheet cassette plus a 50-sheet multipurpose feeder. An optional 550-sheet unit raises the expanded total, but it is not part of the base supply. Match special media to the instructed paper type and feed path.

Automatic print duplex is separate from single-pass scanning. Letter and A4 duplex output are positively documented; heavy covers, coated material, labels and envelopes have restrictions. Do not assume that an accepted one-sided stock is suitable for every two-sided job.

The original recommended monthly volume is 700–3500 pages, distinct from the 50,000-page maximum duty figure. The technical table and original guide agree on a 30ppm Letter rate. Compare that declared job mode rather than mixing a marketing headline with scanning, copying or duplex figures.

Plan working space and separate replacement items

The body is about 16.9 × 19.8 × 19.7 inches before allowing for paper handling, the feeder, glass access and cables. Additional paper hardware changes the installation. Verify the offered unit's working footprint and electrical label before purchase.

The original supplied cartridges and higher-yield replacements have different declarations, with drums, waste container and fuser treated separately. Check suitable supplies and the condition of the particular older machine. The S2825cdn fits a confirmed wired color routine needing Legal single-pass capture and a properly configured computer-driver PIN workflow.
