Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the earlier CP2025dn print color Legal documents automatically on both sides through Ethernet, with 300 included Legal sheets and a 2,000-page monthly recommendation?
Qualifies with earlier references enabled and a compatible installed driver that recognizes the included duplex unit. The selected Legal size, ordinary paper capacity and monthly recommended maximum are individually documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the standard dn package connect directly to my ordinary Wi-Fi network?
Fails the Wi-Fi requirement. USB and wired Ethernet are included; a wireless accessory is an optional addition rather than the normal configuration.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a standard CP2025dn already include 550 A4 sheets because that is the family maximum?
Fails the 550-sheet included-capacity requirement. The dn includes 300 ordinary A4 sheets; its extra 250-sheet cassette is optional. The x package is a different included configuration.
Explore this need in the finder →Automatic color duplex for a wired, print-only office
The HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn fits a small office that already has its documents in electronic form and wants shared color output with automatic two-sided printing. It includes USB, wired Ethernet and a duplexer, but no scanner or fax. Its 300-sheet standard input is also different from the larger CP2025x package.
The exact HP US page identifies CB495A#ABA and explicitly marks the printer discontinued. This assessment concerns the documented US low-voltage configuration, 115–127 volts at 60 Hz. Separate 220–240-volt editions appear in the original specifications; the family name alone is not an electrical guarantee for an imported or previously owned unit.
HP declares up to 21 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black or color, separately 20 A4 in the associated original guide. Actual documents, drivers and software affect the result. These are manufacturer figures, not review measurements, and the automatic duplex function does not make them two-sided throughput ratings.
Verify the driver recognizes the included duplex unit
The original US datasheet explicitly makes automatic two-sided printing standard on CP2025dn. HP's exact dn/x support bulletin also lists Letter, Legal and A4 for automatic duplex. That specific bulletin positively covers A4, which is absent from the shorter duplex-size line in the US datasheet.
If the driver keeps asking for a manual refeed, first print the Configuration report and check the duplex-unit entry. HP's original procedure then checks Installable Options in Device Settings: Duplex unit should be Installed and Allow Manual Duplexing disabled. Use the appropriate setting for the actual compatible driver rather than expecting an old operating-system screenshot to match a current computer.
Choose the binding edge for the document. A landscape handout can need different page turning from an ordinary portrait report. Use supported paper and type settings; the associated original duplex routine cautions against stock heavier than 105 g/m². A heavier-paper allowance for a named glossy stock does not establish that the stock can follow every two-sided path.
Two included feeds, with an optional third cassette
Normal input totals 300 sheets: a 50-sheet multipurpose tray and a 250-sheet cassette. The original paper tables support Letter, Legal and A4 in both, with ordinary capacity specified for 60–90-g/m² paper. A separately purchased 250-sheet tray can expand the dn to 550, but it is not part of the reviewed standard package.
That distinction matters when leaving a shared job unattended. Automatic duplex can reduce sheet use for a document, but it does not increase the amount of paper physically loaded. Someone must still replenish the included feeds during a longer run, and specialty media must follow its separate stack-height and loading limits.
For envelopes, tray 1 has an instructed routine for up to ten supported envelopes. Load the printable side up with the postage end toward the back, and select the matching envelope size and type. Print envelopes one-sided; the normal 300-sheet figure is not an envelope allowance. Legal paper requires the cassette to extend at its front, so allow room beyond the closed body.
USB and Ethernet provide computer printing
A USB 2.0 cable can connect one computer using an appropriate installed printer driver. Built-in 10/100Base-TX Ethernet supports a wired network queue for shared printing. The original language set includes PCL 6, PCL 5c and HP PostScript level 3 emulation, but verify the actual available solution for the computer rather than treating a historical compatibility list as present support.
Wireless networking needs an optional hardware accessory; it is not a radio included in this dn configuration. The current HP mobile matrix names HP Print Service Plugin for this exact family. AirPrint and Mopria operation is not positively established here, and Bonjour discovery in an old network table does not itself establish either protocol.
The printer has no document-capture hardware. Automatic print duplex cannot turn a paper original into a scanned file, make a standalone photocopy or send an analog fax. Its network administrator password protects settings; it does not establish a document-job PIN release feature. Choose an appropriately documented MFP when those are requirements.
Match cartridge yield and workload to the actual task
HP's recommended monthly printing range is 750–2,000 pages. The separate 40,000-page maximum duty figure is not a sustained recommendation. Assess an ordinary month's documents against the recommended range rather than relying on the much larger number.
The US 304A replacements are CC530A black, CC531A cyan, CC532A yellow and CC533A magenta. The original HP datasheet declares approximately 3,500 black replacement pages and 2,800 composite color pages under ISO/IEC 19798 continuous-yield conditions. Original introductory cartridges have separate approximately 1,200-page black and composite color figures. Actual page coverage changes yield; no present cartridge balance or current cost per page is assumed.
The exact US datasheet gives a body of approximately 15.9 by 19.1 by 12.7 inches and 52.7 pounds including cartridges. Keep access for the feeds, toner drawer and rear paper path. For essential 550-sheet included input, the original CP2025x is the equipped alternative; for scanning or native mobile protocols, choose a different model whose complete setup supports them.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker one-sided Letter rate up to 21 ppm black/color, separately 20 A4 in the associated original guide. Actual software, driver and document complexity affect output; no measured or automatic-duplex rate inferred. Recommended monthly printing 750–2,000, separate maximum duty 40,000.
Paper handling
Included 50-sheet tray 1 plus 250-sheet tray 2, totaling 300 ordinary 60–90-g/m² Letter/Legal/A4 sheets in the associated original capacity tables. Extra 250-sheet tray 3 is optional on dn. Exact HP dn/x bulletin positively supports automatic duplex Letter/A4/Legal; original duplex routine cautions against paper above 105 g/m². Tray 1 supports up to ten instructed envelopes, printable side up and postage end toward the back; one-sided envelope routine, no automatic envelope duplex. Legal cassette loading extends the front beyond the closed body.
Scanning arrangement
A color print-only laser printer, with no scanner, flatbed, feeder, standalone copy or fax. Automatic duplex turns printed sheets; it does not scan originals or create two-sided computer files.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB 2.0 computer printing and built-in 10/100Base-TX Ethernet; compatible installed driver required. Radio is an optional hardware addition, not included Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct. HP mobile matrix names HP Print Service Plugin for this exact family; AirPrint/Mopria support is unconfirmed, not inferred from Bonjour or an Ethernet socket.
Supplies and declared yields
304A replacements: CC530A black approximately 3,500 pages; CC531A cyan, CC532A yellow and CC533A magenta approximately 2,800 composite color pages. Original HP 4AA2-0208ENUC declares continuous yields under ISO/IEC 19798. Original introductory cartridges approximately 1,200 black and 1,200 composite color pages, separate from replacements. Actual coverage affects yield; supplied remaining capacity, current cartridge availability and live page cost unknown.
Software and support
Original compatible printer drivers include PCL 6, PCL 5c and HP PostScript level 3 emulation. HP exact dn/x duplex bulletin instructs checking the Configuration report, installing the Duplex unit in Device Settings and disabling Allow Manual Duplexing before choosing automatic two-sided output. Historical XP/Vista/Mac driver screens are original instructions, not present support guarantees. Network administration password and color lockout do not establish private-job PIN release; that feature remains unknown.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US CB495A#ABA explicitly discontinued. Reviewed original US low-voltage configuration 115–127 V at 60 Hz, separate 220–240-V editions; check the actual label, no dual-voltage claim. Original exact US datasheet dn column: 15.9×19.1×12.7 inches, 52.7 lb including cartridges. These exact unit figures are the body basis; an older generic CP2020 duplex-family row has different figures and is not substituted. Legal tray extension and toner/rear-path/service access need extra room. Original guide output headline 125 differs from exact US datasheet/current support 150; no unqualified output-capacity guarantee used.
