A useful fit for

A compatible office that needs the larger included paper arrangement for recurring color printing.

The main tradeoff

It is print-only and physically larger; optional wireless and disk-based private-job features are not included by the x suffix.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it print Legal color duplex documents with 850 supplied sheets for a 3,000-page monthly routine?

Yes, with the actual supplied trays and compatible desktop driver; this is ordinary-paper printing rather than scanning or optional stored jobs.

Can the standard package hold a private print job for PIN release?

The documented feature requires an installed optional hard disk, which is not included in this base assessment.

Does it scan a document into a computer file?

No. This is a print-only configuration.

The larger paper package is the reason to choose the x

The HP Color LaserJet CP3505x builds an earlier color-printing setup around an included additional feeder. Its 100-sheet multipurpose tray, 250-sheet cassette and 500-sheet third tray provide 850 ordinary input sheets together. That distinguishes CB444A from the smaller dn package without implying a different multifunction role.

This is a print-only machine. It includes automatic two-sided output and wired networking, but no scanner, copier or fax. Choose it for documents already available on a compatible computer, not for turning paper originals into files.

Verify the third feeder in the actual offer

The original x configuration includes the 500-sheet feeder. With an earlier machine, verify that the unit being offered still has that feeder and its usable cassette. A product name or photograph alone does not settle whether every original accessory survives.

The larger capacity can be useful when an office wants fewer ordinary-paper reloads or keeps different supported stock in separate trays. It does not mean that every tray accepts every special material, and capacity varies with the actual paper.

Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary inputs are marked in the original guide. Envelopes instead use the multipurpose tray with their own ten-envelope ceiling and loading orientation. Keep the envelope job separate from the 850-sheet ordinary capacity claim.

Use the duplexer through the correct media and driver controls

Automatic duplex output is included on the x. The operating guide shows the driver’s Print on Both Sides control and binding choices. Those settings affect the orientation of the reverse side; checking a short sample is sensible before producing a long document with a particular binding direction.

The reviewed US specification explicitly lists Letter and Legal for automatic duplex. Its broader ordinary-input support should not be used to invent an additional size-specific duplex promise. The questionnaire therefore keeps the assessed duplex sizes distinct from the input list.

The actual duplex procedure cautions against heavier paper beyond its stated limit and excludes labels, transparencies and glossy paper. A specialty stock that can enter the multipurpose tray is not automatically appropriate for the two-sided path.

Ethernet and USB are supplied; wireless is an accessory question

Fast Ethernet provides the original shared-network connection, with computer USB available separately. Wireless networking appears in the optional accessory list. Do not infer included Wi-Fi, standard Wi-Fi Direct or a modern mobile-print protocol from the existence of a network port.

Check suitable software for the intended computer, including the actual duplex and tray controls. Historical operating-system references show the original environment rather than guaranteeing full current compatibility. The larger paper package cannot compensate for a missing driver feature central to your routine.

More paper does not mean included private-job storage

The x has more supplied paper capacity than the dn, but that does not include every expansion option. HP’s Retrieve Job menu and PIN-protected stored jobs require an installed hard disk. The original disk is optional, so private-print release is not counted in this base package.

If an offer claims that function, check the installed hardware and test the configured release workflow. Network administration passwords and color-access policies address different concerns from holding a particular job until its owner enters a PIN.

Plan for the cabinet, supplies and recurring work

The extra feeder makes the x taller and heavier than the dn. Allow space to remove cassettes, open access doors and reach connections, and confirm that the supporting furniture suits the complete package. Check the offered unit’s electrical plate and service condition as well.

The recommended recurring print range is 1,500–5,000 pages monthly, distinct from maximum duty. Four toner cartridges need individual attention, and old declared yields do not establish remaining supplies. Choose the CP3505x when its included 850-sheet arrangement, wired color output and automatic duplex fit the job, with the actual earlier package verified.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 22 Letter or 21 A4 ppm, black or color. Recommended monthly printing is 1,500–5,000 pages; maximum duty is 65,000. No editorial benchmark is claimed.

Paper handling

Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary inputs are marked in the original guide. The US brochure explicitly lists Letter/Legal automatic duplex; A4 duplex is not established by that reviewed size-specific source and is not admitted. Envelopes use Tray 1 only with a separate ten-envelope limit and specified face-down orientation. Actual duplex routine cautions against more than 105 g/m² even though broader sales tables quote 120; use the narrower operating limit. Labels, transparencies and glossy paper are expressly excluded from automatic duplex. The x supplies 100 plus 250 plus 500 sheets, totaling 850. Verify that the included third feeder survives in the offered package.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only model: no scanner, copier, document feeder or fax. Network printing is not network capture.

Computer and mobile connections

Included computer USB 2.0 and Fast Ethernet; wireless, parallel-port and storage accessories are optional and not part of this base assessment. AirPrint, Mopria and standard Wi-Fi Direct are not established by the original material.

Supplies and declared yields

Four original color cartridges: Q6470A black and Q7581A/Q7582A/Q7583A cyan/yellow/magenta. The brochure rates each at about 6,000 pages at stated coverage; its original full-cartridge package is not proof of remaining toner in an earlier offer.

Software and support

Use a compatible computer driver configured for the actual duplexer and installed trays. Finishing/Print on Both Sides and binding controls are documented. Retrieve Job and private PIN jobs explicitly require an installed hard disk; the optional disk is excluded from this base configuration. Historical Windows/Mac/network lists need checking against the current intended system.

Electrical edition and setup

Original US brochure specifies 110–127 V, 50/60 Hz for its North American configurations. Check the actual offered unit plate and included accessories. Earlier documentation is not an exact-model stock or official-discontinuation finding.
